Vinicius Junior

Yeah he's relentless. And he is absolutely devastating off the ball as well, so defenders can't ever drop focus on him for an instant

Remember a few years ago he mentioned taking Mane as the example to follow, in terms of playing style, and not gonna lie, I got hard when I read that interview
Heh. You can see the influence in his game with that tireless pressuring off the ball and into transitions. Just horrible to face.

That was at the time when Liverpool were demolishing the premier league with agricultural football. Punt It Up In Behind For Mane Who Is Not Offside, and we score from there

My favourite active player. I enjoy watching him so much. Still has that Brazilian vibe of times gone by.

Defending against this guy must be a nightmare. Would have loved him at United. Pure class.

Remember when he was known as a serial bottler and Benzema told his team mates not to pass to Vinicius? Very remarkable development.

He should be the favorite for the Ballon d'Or right now. Kroos and Bellingham could still get infront of him if Germany/England win the EC and Brazil does not win the Copa. Every other candidate (those who won domestic titles) would need to have a truly standout performance at the EC/CA.

There’s nothing remarkable about it. He was a 20 year old kid at that stage having been in Spain for barely eighteen months.

All that’s happened is that he’s developed into the player they were suggesting he would be as a teen in brazil.

He’s only 23, and he’s consistently been the best attacker in the world for 18-24 months.

Remember what mourinho said about benzema in his 1st-2nd seasons at Madrid about benz? Something about he didn’t have a dog to go hunting with, only a cat so he had to take it hunting because he had no other choice?

Involved in 22 goals in the KO stage: 11 goals and 11 assists. Before turning 24 and scoring in two finals also before turning 24. New record apparently.

At this rate he’ll surpass both Ronaldo and Messi’s goal tally in the CL. Still a long way to go but incredible nonetheless.
He needs 120 more goals to reach Ronaldo.
If he is playing in the CL for the next 12 years he needs 10 goals per season. This season he scored 6 goals. There is no way he is catching up to Ronaldo or even Messi

He's almost certainly not catching those 2, but cristiano had fewer CL goals by the same age...

Wouldn't he prefer something more about the football than the awful stuff?

Well he may be a balon d'Or winner soon too.

But this is a big deal, he's had a huge amount of racist abuse and finally something has been done. Good for him.

United should get him. Wonder if they would swap him for Sancho?

Dude is failing to impress for Brazil with flying colors. No Madrid no party?

I'm going to whisper this quietly but I don't think he's half as good as people hype him up to be. People put this guy on the same level as Neymar, Neymar was a star for brazil even when they were in disarray. I really really hope we don't end up going for him.

There has only been two players better than Neymar this last decade to be fair.

Neymar is undoubtedly more talented than Vini but the latter is in for the BdO because he plays a key role on a better team. Neymar never stood a huge chance for BdO because he played in Brazil until age 21, then made a dumbass decision to join Ligue 1 at age 25. His window to win the BdO was effectively his 4 seasons in La Liga but he was probably unhappy to be in Messi's shadow. If he made better choices his career would have panned out differently, no top player should join Ligue 1 in their prime.

Vini is highly emotional and loses his cool easily when taunted by racists, this leads to inconsistent performances. I do find him very likeable for not backing down and calling Spain racist at every opportunity  continental Europe tends to pretend they aren't as racist as USA, Vini is fighting the good fight.

5 goals in 35 games for Brazil.

I'm amazed for a Balon D'or contender how bad his record is, wondering what the talk is with Brazil media/fans?

Neymar spoiled them for years as the Brazilian leader in attack and now there's a void and Vinicius is struggling to step up, think Rodrygo has scored more so far.

Right… as opposed to?

Not sure I've seen many people say that. Neymar was levels above Vini.

That said, he'd be an incredible signing(fantasy though).

He's an amazing player. Him not being as good as Neymar isn't an indictment on him. Not many attackers were better than Neymar.

Vinni is quality, not sure about his performance for Brazil.
I'm hoping he will be looking for an exit after this season with Mbappe constantly drifting into his area of the pitch.

1) Brazil have a lame duck manager that's dragging them down

2) Carrying a failing Brazil on your shoulders is something very few players have been able to do. Vini needs to improve but he's also probably just not strong enough for it, mentally.

3) Neymar was on a whole different level, come on now. He's been unlucky with injuries and bad career choices, but even across Brazilian football history he stands out. Brazil haven't produced more than 5-6 bigger talents in the last 50 years or so(Zico, Ronaldo, Dinho, maybe Rivaldo...)

Not being half as good as Neymar means very little. Relative to his current actual contemporaries, Vinicius Jr is clearly one of - if not the best - wide forwards in football. At club level, at least.

I'd say Neymar was the better talent but as players alone, there isn't much between them. Neymar playing with the best striker, best player and best midfielders in the world would have helped. Vinicious is certainly a big game player. Be interesting to see how he gets on this season with Mbappe there.

It’s not only that. Not only the goals. He’s incredibly bad, can’t beat a defender, can’t control. He’s another player.
