Vinicius | signs a new contract with Madrid

Think he’s being incredibly overrated on here.

When he’s in form he’s amazing, when he’s not in form he’s dreadful. The problem is regardless of form he’s the laziest fecker I’ve seen in football. He starts abusing his teammates when they call him out on it and overall just a horrible dressing room presence.

Not sure how he’s going to fit into arsenals defensive press given he literally never presses.

Arsenal have been competing for the title for some time, have you seen indications that this Arsenal sides best players are going to be raided by other clubs like Leicester or Blackburn?

Let's not downplay them when they've shown signs for years and got far in the CL.

Did Leicester finish 2nd 3 times in a row and reach the CL Semis and then Finals. Also do you see all the best Arsenal players being poached this summer, on the contrary we're looking to strengthen our team further.

Arsenal don’t have any European pedigree.

Liverpool and United are the two biggest clubs in England.

I really question the veracity having the money to make this happen btw

Vini rejected a contract by Madrid that would cost Arsensl around £35 millions a year to match. rejected

realistically we're looking at a cost of £45/50m per year, to the player. Then there's the ~£120/130m Madrid would demand in transfer fee on top

even if they have the money, that's a stupid expense, for a player they could sign in 6 months for significantly less

We absolutely do. We just won the PL and made it to the CL finals. That's a big boost in direct revenue that will have kick-down effects on future revenue if we can strike now. Our revenue grew over 100m in the last year and is likely to grow again next year. We are going to be the richest club in England next year.

Our UEFA Squad Cost Ratio is around 60% if I remember right, and we have real room for a premier signing. The incoming Premier League squad cost control system is going to get looser in 26/27 not stronger. We will have increased capacity on that front. Vini's ask plus if we give him 100% of image rights which your club won't is a massive boost.

While obviously real Madrid is one of the historic top destinations, your squad doesn't really look better equipped to win the CL next year as is than we do with Vini (yes, that is a little bias and optimism but we reached a Semi two years ago and the final last year, better than you). City is losing Pep and they still have the 100340 charges hanging over their heads, which massively dampens their appeal. Now is the right time to push past them. No top player wants to go to City right now. We need to strike when the iron is hot.

Whether or not we could sign Vini in 6 months for "significantly less" is debatable and then we lose the 6 months of Vini playing for us. My preference is to go for it now, we can afford it, I can get more into the finances if necessary. but getting Vini for a full season is a massive boost for us. It would be our biggest coup of a signing since Bergkamp to me.

I'm not convinced he'd be a massive success in the PL. Liverpool physically bullied him out of the game early last season.

Top player but he feels a bit lightweight for the league.

That's both true and totally meaningless for the current thread. Players have short careers. Arsenal, PL winners and CL finalists, are obviously far better positioned to challenge for the CL next year than either 'pool or United. That's just a fact. Current players don't give two shits about "pedigree" from decades ago. They care about which club gives them a better chance to win trophies now and next year. Nottm Forest, Porto, and Juventus have more European pedigree than Arsenal too; it's not going to help them sign star players this summer.

It does matter in the thread as I was answering a question on the topic.

it's not relevant to the overall topic of the thread. No current player is tallying up European Cups and CLs from decades ago to pick their club. They are picking clubs based on two factors: 1) money and 2) opportunities to win trophies in the next year or two. Neither Pool nor United is going to be more appealing this summer and next year than Arsenal despite your "pedigree".

United and Liverpool are bigger clubs than Arsenal though. That’s the point.

Not by revenue next year and not by trophies won + finals reached last year.

Again, players don't pick clubs because of they are historically "bigger". They pick clubs based on the two things I mentioned: money offered and chance to win trophies next year.

That just means the whoever gets Arsenal over the line in the CL will get more credit for having won is the first CL trophy.

Do you agree with the statement that United and Liverpool are bigger clubs than Arsenal or not? It’s a yes or no really..

It doesn't matter for players for a long time. City, Chelsea and PSG have no problem attract the best players available on the market in the past 20 years.

In their total history, yes. Currently, no.

I was at a World Cup game this summer and a few fan zones. I saw more City shirts than Liverpool+United shirts combined despite United and Pool being 'bigger' historically.

What do those three have in common…
To the players it is all about the money being offered and the chance to win trophies. History or European pedigree I highly doubt they matter as much as you would believe.

It makes no odds to me. Just seeing who is still grounded in reality so I know where the discussion is coming from!
I dunno, seem like its kinda important to you for you to bring it up in a thread about Vini Jr.

okay here is the reality.

Arsenal will have higher revenue next year than Pool or United. Arsenal won the PL and reached the CL finals last year. Neither Liverpool nor United did that. No current player gives a feck that your clubs won more CLs and Euro Cups decades ago. They care about who has a better chance to win next year and pay them what they want. Arsenal are better positioned to both pay Vini today and win trophies next year than current Pool or United.

Do you disagree with that, yes or no?

Unlike other Arsenal fan in this thread I don't believe Arsenal can satisfy Vini's financial demand if Real Madrid can't in the beginning, let alone the draw to play for Real Madrid and living in Spain vs England for South American player.

Whats with Arsenal fans acting like they've just come of 5 straight league titles and 2 CL wins, and thinking they are the biggest draw for players than any other clubs?? You've just won one league title. Its so weird.
.

The reality, as we’ve already clarified, is that the two biggest clubs in England are Liverpool and United.

You then have the tier below which does include Arsenal.

Arsenal are the favourites for the PL next season and reigning champs. That will stand them in good stead.

Arsenal is likely one of the few destinations for Vini other than Real. Liverpool could make it work maybe (not sure with Eikitike and Isak)...so could ManU obviously and probably City. The other destinations are not great. Dont think an Italian team would give him the salary and besides that Serie A isn't what it used to be. PSG...no. They exppressively moved beyond the Mbappe/Neymar circus and have a great balance already. Bayern...well they would have to shift things around significantly to accommodate....so that just leaves the PL.

No one thinks that. I just think its obvious that this summer Arsenal are a bigger draw than Pool or United. I already said a few times, I doubt this transfer happens anyway, but I don't think its debatable that right now, Arsenal are a bigger draw than any other PL team. PSG and the two Spanish giants are likely still more appealing to SA players in general.

the two biggest clubs in England are Liverpool and United.

What's the point of you continuing to bring this up? Do you think that matters in any way in signing Vini this summer?

I’m just responding to you. Happy to park it there.

You aren't responding to me at all because I never asked "who are the historically biggest clubs in England?" but sure, feel free to park it.

Also I don't understand why would anyone think Arteta will accept a player like Vinícius Júnior with his attitude toward Xabi Alonso.

Well he saw how ineffective his attack was in the final. They werent a threat whatsoever, without Saka which you just double mark. V. Jr would at least a good difference

Based on all the Information online, Amazon documentary, Arteta will probably release him for free if he plays for arsenal.

Correct. You accosted me. I was not interacting with you until that point.

Feels like classic little club syndrome. Similar to the notorious little man syndrome those under 6ft struggle with.

He has 5 goals and 2 assists in 6 games against Liverpool...

I'm not very confident it'll happen and it is most likely just a ploy to get Madrid to pay him what he wants (and all the power to him for doing it), but it's hard not to get a little excited by the idea. Even if this doesn't work out it gives me hope for the future if the club are willing to make this level of signing.
