He's going to Arsenal, can feel acceptance from Real fans on here which I think is very telling
Absolutely nothing has changed the last few days. He'll sign his new contract by the end of next week
Depends on the club, and what other players are around with similar skillsets really
For example, I don't think Hakimi is a better player than Vinicius, but he'd be harder to replace
In our case, if we sell Vini, we already have both Mbappé, Bellingham and Rodrygo on the team. We don't even need to go out and sign someone else really

I agree that nothing has changed in the last few days. But if he hasn’t signed an extension in the last 18 months since they started negotiating and Real are briefing that they will not budge on their offer - what incentivises him to sign by next week?

I think Mourinho can bring more discipline and accountability to the attacking players, but sooner or later one of them is going to feel disadvantaged, either because of the defensive work required or because of the position they're asked to play.
If I were Mourinho, I'd build the team around Jude , making him the focal point. Then I'd let the other two fight to prove they can fit into the system.

Kidding aside, of course you're right that mentioning a weirdly specific date doesn't make any sense. I just think that if this is a ploy to squeeze more money out of Real, which seems likely to me, they'll need to come to a conclusion and solution at some point. Whether that includes him lowering his demands or Real increasing their offer, they probably want this settled. Middle of August seems as good a date as any.

I'm obviously biased, as I support the club looking to sign him, but trying to look at it as logically as I can from a Madrid point of view, and looking at who Perez might target in the future, I too think it might be best if you reluctantly choose to sell him, I just wanted to get your views as well.
I do think it's difficult to carry both Vini and Mbappe and keep the right balance and characteristics in the team. Like you say, having Rodri in midfield would certainly be able to help with that but he is ageing a bit. This would help give a bit of a rebalance and leave space for a start forward signing next summer.

Yeah, that’s fair enough. I wasn’t even really that focused on the specific date either, it’s more the time that’s elapsed in the negotiations. If Vini didn’t want to sign the contract on offer before and Real are serious about their stance (which is a very rational one) then why would he cave just as his leverage is highest due to entering into the final year of his contract?
The longer this goes on, the more likely a parting is. Real would also like a decision made soon so they can plan their season. The Isak deal hurt both Liverpool and Newcastle last season; drawn out transfer sagas can be mutually detrimental. Also, Arsenal seem willing to meet any reasonable asking price.

I think the other consideration from Madrid's side is that Florentino won't stand still and if Vini signs a new deal it will make it awkward to add a huge attacker like Olise next summer. Its already very hard to find the right balance with three attacking superstars in the same team, four is just impossible video game stuff. Given that Florentino seems totally committed to both Mbappe and Jude, its a question of who complements them the most and the answer is really clear once you think about it.
Mbappe, Jude, and Olise has a great balance of scoring and creating and is also balanced in terms of players preferring different sides of the pitch. There are also a lot of different ways you could set up. You could play Mbappe LW and have a facilitating focal point CF, play Mbappe LW and Jude as a false 9, or play Mbappe CF and have another LW player (Diomande?) supporting the stars. This is the closest Madrid can get to approximating the balance of the BBC trio.
Mbappe, Jude, and Vini is much less balanced in terms of scoring versus creating and, especially, in terms of locations on the pitch, as all three players shade to the left. There's also not many different ways you can put them all into the same team unless you want to start pushing Vini to the RW or something. It almost has to be Vini LW, Mbappe CF, Jude in advanced midfield with all of them drifting into the same left channel and left half space areas.
Obviously this is also what I WANT to believe as an Arsenal fan. But I think there's some merit to it, especially if Florentino has a strong belief that obtaining Olise will be possible next summer.

Its the one thing that makes me dream about the 1% chance of this happening. Vini and Mbappe can play together but they don't synergize and aren't really greater than the sum of the parts.

I don’t know if it will happen or not. No one does. It feels far more unlikely now than when then rumours first broke though and it simply has the feel of a very difficult deal for any club to do. The most likely scenario is he stays at Madrid and/or leaves on a free. Maximising every penny he can make.
I certainly don’t put any stock in to what people on the caf think though as it’s all guesswork.
If he really got Alonso sacked, I hope he would be similarly disruptive if he signed for Arsenal.
