I still think they were right to try.

But don't want to be congratulating themselves for trying. No prizes for 'showing ambition' or whatever, their attack does not look great right now.
 
He was so obviously never going to arse. I have no idea how anyone could think that.
 
I won't say "I told you so" because plenty already have.

Look, if I bumped into Alexandra Daddario in Tesco's, I'd ask her out on a date to Nandos. There'd probably be more chance she'd say yes than Vini signing for Arsenal but you miss 100% of the shots you don't take.
 
I find it funny, the media, Sky Sports anyway, are bigging up Arsenal over this even though they’ve been used through it for his contract extension negotiations.

If United clearly we’d be seen as an embarrassment for trying etc when no hope of pulling it off.

It's been happening to us for 20+ years. Even over the last 10 years during our worst period its been happening most of them we weren't even genuinely in for too.

Also the Arsenal fans in here were very reserved about this, most thought they didn't have a chance and the most optimistic were only cautiously so.
 
I wonder if there’s any truth to him being turned off by the football they play?

Obviously the Champions League final was appalling and the style of play had deteriorated over time.

No over the top credit from me, but it shows the clubs ambition and their desire to win now.

Trying to strengthen when on top is exactly the right thing to do.

Totally agree. Would have been the biggest signing we have seen in the Premier League, imo.

I don't remember a PL club ever bringing in a player who's been a constant top 10 player in the world for the last 5 years (top 10 in 4 of the last 5 ballon d'or lists), with a large trophy hall, huge global status and in his prime.

There have ben plenty that achieved that status while in the PL, but no clubs has ever bought a prime top tier player.

Don't want to see Arsenal succeed in any way, but would have been good for the league.
 
It's fun to see arsenal get played but seems a bit of a dumb decision from him. Mbappe overshadows him and takes up his space. Mourinho dislikes him
 
Never get carried away by a Madrid player’s advances. Nice to see another club get used in these negotiation gimmick.
 
Hopefully causes issues when Arsenal need to renew contracts. If Arsenal were so happy to pay £450k+ per week to Vinicius then Odegaard, Rice, Gabriel, Raya, and Timber should be in line for big wage rises :)
 
I see they’re taking it well over on Arsenal Mania. Their Vini thread has been popping off since the news of their interest first broke, now the thread is nowhere to be seen! :lol:
