Is it worth getting into? I'm sure there'll come a point when it's worth the investment, but I have no idea if we're there yet.
Plus it keeps saying you wont last 40 seconds playing this game. Very annoying.Amazed they havent come up with vr sex machine.

I would suggest waiting a few years as technology improves, prices come down a bit and gives time for a few more potential full length games to come out.Is it worth getting into? I'm sure there'll come a point when it's worth the investment, but I have no idea if we're there yet.
That's probably what I'm going to do...I would suggest waiting a few years as technology improves, prices come down a bit and gives time for a few more potential full length games to come out.
...except posts like this keep getting me excited.Got both PSVR and Oculus Rift S
PSVR does a decent job of a starter package but the resolution, frame rate and the lack of full spatial tracking makes it very much an entry option. The games are pretty low res and blurry although Resident Evil 7 is absolutely incredibly in VR actually incredibly scary to play in VR and brings a whole new dynamic to the horror genre, VR is made for horror games.
Played a few others in VR i think i tried Skyrim but only lasted 30 mins or so as it looks absolutely terrible its a blurry mess on PSVR and no real effort has been made to incorporate the VR Control schemes.
Oculus Rift S i bought specifically so i could experience Half Life Alyx, this is possibly the greatest game i have ever played the initial wow factor and the ease of control with the gravity gloves is so natural its something else. From having to reload your gun (like an actual gun ejecting the mag pulling a new one out of your backpack) simple stuff like this when under pressure in a fire fight is incredible.
Actually having to physically duck and peak out of cover is insane (once you get over the fact you look like an idiot to anyone outside the game) the 3d puzzle solving by interacting and moving objects in the game its incredible. When done right there is really nothing close to VR its incredible but valve have the only ones that have nailed it so far.
Are Sony and MS still developing for their VR systems or have they given up on it? If those two can't make it work, it's probably dead in the water.Bought PSVR nearly a couple of years ago now. Was an amazing experience, and highly recommend it, but in the end it just become far too much effort compared to just playing a regular game.
I don't think VR will ever be "future of gaming" per se, it will always be a side thing in gaming and not replacing the classic one. For example, with classic gaming you can relax and game for hours and hours, but with VR, there is no relaxing as such, people saying how they have to take breaks after 1 hour sessions etc. It’s nearly there but not quite. I treated myself to a PSVR a couple of Christmas’s ago out of my Christmas bonus. I’m glad I’ve got it but I can’t say I’ve had my money’s worth.
The tech is impressive, especially if you’re my age (45) and can remember the early VR attempts in the 90’s and I have no doubt that VR is 100% the future of gaming. Just not there yet and it’s largely down to controls and movement especially.
That being said there are some fantastic titles out there. My favourite being SuperHot VR, such a cool game and hides movement issues really well.
Resi 7 is also amazing technically and is really scary, I mean really scary! So much so, I reverted to playing it like a normal game after a while
Skyrim VR is ok, it’s nice to be in the world but graphically not as nice as you’re used to and the controls are awkward.
Walking Dead game is good and Beat Sabre is cool too.
There’s a few tech demos I’ve enjoyed, especially the Apollo moon landing thing.
I would like to play Half Life Alyx though, sadly it’s not on PSVR though.
If you’ve got the money to throw on something not essential then they’re brill but largely they’re just impressive tech to show off to your mates.
With the speed tech is advancing do you really think we’ll be sat holding a joypad in 20 years time? Feck no.I don't think VR will ever be "future of gaming" per se, it will always be a side thing in gaming and not replacing the classic one. There is too much "effort" required for VR to just replace classic gaming. They will just coexist and that is fine.
Of course technology will advance, but also people expect too much, I don't doubt we can invent really advanced stuff but human body can only follow and do so much. With the speed tech is advancing do you really think we’ll be sat holding a joypad in 20 years time? Feck no.
look how far we’ve come in the last 20 years.
We won’t be watching games on a flat tv, we’ll be in them, looking around and interacting fully. Sure, there’s always going to be relaxing games but VR will be the main event.
I’ll bet you £20 that in 20 years most AAA games will be VR.Of course technology will advance, but also people expect too much, I don't doubt we can invent really advanced stuff but human body can only follow and do so much.
You are on! I will be back in 2040 in this thread to pick up my winnings.I’ll bet you £20 that in 20 years most AAA games will be VR.

Love how quickly VR is maturing...Just fecking give it to me now!
Have the original quest. Used 'Virtual Desktop Streamer' to play Half-Life Alyx, wirelessly. It's the best video game experience I've ever had. Somebody mentioned eleven table tennis, which is also awesome. Arizona Sunshine is a good zombie shooter, too.Got my Oculus Quest 2 arriving tomorrow, can't wait
My first VR machine, although my brother has a really powerful PC and has been raving about it for a while now.
I'll start off with Beat Saber, SuperHot, and the star wars game. Doom 3 port also arriving in winter sometime.
Anyone else getting one?
Same. Was encouraged by things like Samsung GearVR and Google Cardboard and even though it seems like the newer standalone VR seems a major step up, it still feels we're one or two gens away from true mass adoption level potential. Im not as young and cool as I once was I guess.Hoping next gen will see vast improvements. It may catch my interest then.
Arizona Sunshine is such a charming game all round. I love it even more on PSVR with the gun using the rifles. It amazes me that some games since (like Borderlands 2 for example) managed to not use their perfect control systems for either the moves or the gun.Have the original quest. It's one of those things that if you take the plunge you'll realise more why people love it so much, but it's still not 100% all there so it's not a must have at all cost kind of thing. I love the PSVR and there's a lot of genuinely great games on it, and even the more budget ones amaze you at first, but I still struggle to recommend it to people on the fence.Same.
