I think it was an Athletic pod they were talking about this too, following Zaha right back. I think the Zaha deal is possibly the worst outgoing transfer in the club's history, given we paid 12m (euros according to Transfermarkt) and recouped 3.8m, and he's been their best player since.

I wouldn't loan him back, and if we can't recoup what we paid, I'd keep him here as a specialist full back and see whether ten Hag can somehow turn him into a footballer over time. He can be a good squad option against certain types of players. But he's obviously not a starter.

If you want to play proactive football, he has no business being here, he'll stick out like Fellaini would, 25m we should sell.

They can feck off with the loan. They have the money and it would be a huge upgrade on what they have now. He would be brilliant for a team like Palace. Pay up or leave. 25 + 5 would be a decent return.

Yeah I'm getting annoyed with these band-aid type loan moves to temporarily offset players. Wish we'd learn to actually sell players. In the summer we're going to have Martial, Pereira, VDB, Williams and Diallo back. Most of these are either not good enough or don't want to be here anyway.

Maybe we can poach whoever's responsible for negotiating Chelsea's sales. They always seem to fetch tidy sums for their castaways.

I can't believe none of the scouts realised he was terrible on the ball.

I suspect there will be very few situations where ETH in particular thinks "what I need tactically is a RB who makes us worse in possession and more likely to be exposed when trying to play out of defence but tackles really well". So there are hard limits to the value having that sort of "specialist" RB in the squad provides as compared to just opting for a back-up RB who fits into your main style of play better.

Also, "if we can't recoup what we paid" should be a given. Us paying nearly 50m for AWB was stupid, someone else doing it again would be sectionable.

The issue we have in terms of offloading him is that not many teams in the PL seem to need a RB at the moment.

Aye, that's unrealistic, but we should still get a decent sum for him. I definitely do not want to see us loaning him out (like Pereira, where there is no intention of buying, regardless of what they say, as they can't afford it) or sell him for pocket change, like we did Zaha.

A loan? Eurgh. It’s what we’re going to face with trying to offload lots of established players, really. We’ve already seen it with Martial — these guys are on too much money + the transfer fees we want in unison will be too much for the clubs who will be interested.

Lingard, Henderson and Dalot loans turned out to be good opportunities to sell at a good price, it's what the club does after the loan that takes the piss.

We need to stop loaning our players until they have a year or two left, then turning down low ball offers before panicking and offering a new deal when they’re close to leaving on a free and being stuck with them for another 4 years.

A lone would be fine, just need to get as many bad smells out the dressing room as possible before ETH arrives...i'm not saying AWB has bad body odour but he if United are to move on from this season they need to makes drastic changes.

This is insane. Loan this guy and we're left with Dalot.

How about we complete signing someone first, before the board will left the squad with another hole to patch for next year.
We have Ethan Laird and Williams coming back from their loan spells. They're not exciting squad options by any means but its not like we'll have no cover.

AWB doesn't really offer us anything in an ETH team, so he won't be a massive loss anyway.

Not sure if this will suffice even for top 4 and I can see Spurs, Arse & Chelsea getting good amount of decent players this summer.

If we're letting AWB go, this must mean somekind of scouting for some interesting talents.

If ETH can make Dalot a proper PL player it probably will take time...

Sell him, take as much as you can.

Loan makes no sense, just sell him. His value will only drop once ETH arrives.

I wouldn't be surprised if we bought Timber and he can fill in either as a right back or a centre back. In any case, we need both, unless Laird is thought of by ten Hag as ready for total football.

Smart & sensitive decision, could save some money but if Maguire and Linde continue their nightmareous run, Timber will be needed at CB for more than 25 games to sustain any chance for place in CL or at least FA cup final.

I probably overthink this, however United's defensive line is a frustrating puzzle to solve, not to mention we could use some additional CB leader to provide cover in the box for De Gea if we won't find a smart upgrade on GK position.

All looks easier if we could just train the remaining players to desired level and instilled somekind of system / organisation and that so far looks too beautiful to be entirely possible.

That's true, same could be said for Tuanzebe at one of his earlier spells at Villa. Loan for 1 season max with the intent to sell could be a good move. He'd do fine at Palace I think.

They can feck off with their loan. No one wants our players to sign as we gave them stupid wages . We deserve what we get

Exactly. We just can't let go. Those three could have gone for decent fees but nah we have to do our old "protect the value" bullshit.

player plus cash for lampty or livramento?

unless ten hag wants to go to a back three he could be useful on the right side of that - cant see him being used as an attacking full back though

I'm probably in the minority who doesn't think the solution to every problem is selling a player, I'd like to see him get a chance under ETH. His confidence is shot but it's not like other full backs have suddenly improved and he hasn't, they've all dropped off to varying degrees. I think we'll see a real uptick in form from a few players if ETH can get the confidence flowing again.

*IF* you want to move him on then a loan is probably the best option actually. He still has what, 3 years left on his deal? And he cost £50m. No way you're getting £30M for him from anyone right now. A loan might bring his value back up. If not, you can likely either find another loan, or sell him at either break-even or a marginal loss in a year's time

Great idea, loan him to a club that has absolutely no intention to buy him. That way he'll be back in one year and we'll be in the exact same situation.

I don't get this weird obsession with loaning players that clearly have no future with us, put him on sale get whatever you can get and move on.

Loan makes sense. Crystal Palace need a chance to have a good look at him and figure out what sort of player he is.

 Are you forgetting that Bissaka is Crystal Palace graduated academy player? They know very well what sort of player he is.

We're bad at selling players because we give them enormous contracts that other clubs can't afford.
Yup. We give them contracts based on (usually poor) judgment of the level they'll be at in 3 years time.

We should take £15m, don’t be too stubborn to ask more than 20m. £20m will be no brainer. Come on Crystal Palace, that’s not difficult. Stop with the loan deal. Hope Everton also stay up so they can be interested in signing this guy since they kinda need a right back given Coleman doesn’t have lot of years left in his career.
