Great player and all but Messi as the 8th pick in an all-time World Cup draft? This is probably the strangest choice I’ve seen since playing these drafts.
I find his 2014 world cup performance underrated.

He was good, no doubt. I would expect to see him picked in the later rounds but he looks so out of place there.
A very good performance but not an all-time great though, I'd still pick a few attackers before him. The biggest criticism is that most of his deeds came in the early stages of the tournament

Though I don’t think Messi is as bad a pick. It’s not just a World Cup Draft but a chain draft as well. So your starting position is pretty important to your strategy

Messi is actually a great pick. Gets to pick from relatively unchallenged pool the best of the earlier WC's, whilst also getting a big name to boot.
