One of the great old names of European women's football in action. No, not United I'm afraid. Wolfsburg are one of the grand teams.

Two times WCL winners and runners up 4 times, most recently in 2023. 7 times winners of the Women's Bundesliga. 11 times German Cup winners.

New investment in the women's game, by teams like Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Lyon and Chelsea have pushed them off the very top places in the rankings. But they're formidable opponents and we'll need to be at our best to get anything from this match.

Well, let’s hope we have another bounce back performance in Europe after the loss this weekend.

I don’t know too much about Wolfsburg. We signed Janssen from them a couple of years ago. We were also briefly linked with their former manager as a potential replacement to Skinner a couple of years ago, and he even announced he was leaving at the end of that season before doing a U-turn and signing another contract. I do remember Wolfsburg fans weren’t too happy with him at the time, and a lot of the criticisms towards him were very similar to that of some United fans towards Skinner. Whether that’s because Bayern and others in Europe have outspent and overtaken them, or if they’ve actually gone backwards I don’t know. But they have lost a lot of players in the last couple of years.

I was thinking about going to this game, but didn’t book anything as I would’ve had to fly to Berlin then get the train to Wolfsburg. @AmarilloMike I think you’re going aren’t you? Have a great time there!

I am yes! Flying in to Hanover, then only an hour or so train to Wolfsburg. It's going to be super nippy, I'm taking basically all my jumpers!!

I know of a handful from the supporters club, plus bumped into a couple I didn't recognise at the airport this morning. Otherwise, no idea to be honest! Wolfsburg isn't the most glamorous of places to visit, very Milton Keynes!

No doubt there will be more of us than the TV camera suggest, I would be very interested to see some screen shots from D+
 
Janssen is back in the squad as expected. No new injuries from the weekend, despite that egg sized bump to the head that Simi Awujo got late in the match and that hit to the Achilles that Ella Toone needed treatment for. Millie Turner, Celin Bizet stay home as does Phallon Tullis Joyce.

Marc Skinner doesn't think Phallon will be out for long, so hopefully that means she'll be back soon after the international break.

Strong starting lineup. Hopefully we're ready to play.
 
I think we're going to come out breathing fire and Wolfsburg won't know what hit them until it's too late. I also have a hunch that today is the day for a breakout match for Awujo. I say we win as long as our young keeper has a solid game. Bring it on!
 
I don't mind that starting XI at all. Park, Terland and Galton to damage Wolfsburg in the final 20-30 minutes.

Rivière down, looks like she's in a fair bit of pain.

She walks off though, so we'll see.
 
We've had most of the attacking action but Wolfsburg very close to opening the scoring there.
 
Terrible defending. But that was clearly a head injury and play should have stopped immediately.
 
We don't clear our lines and Wolfsburg don't let us get away with the mistake 1-1. Safia will need to re-focus fast.

Rivière injured and on the deck during that attack.
 
Done that to ourselves and I have no sympathy for Rivière here. I don’t think the knock she took was so bad she couldn’t get back up and help. Hoping for the ref to stop play if you ask me

There’s nothing in it, same as there was nothing in the knock Kerkez took in the lead up to Mbuemo’s goal vs Liverpool
 
Awful at the back. Was hoping SMP wouldn’t make an error but unfortunately that’s a clanger.
 
We need PTJ back and the defence needs a kick up the arse for not closing down.
 
Another goalkeeping error. We desperately need PTJ back asap. Our defence has looked shaky in every game since she’s been out.
 
Wolfsburg from way outside the box and Safia M-P scarcely moves. Not getting the ball cleared is going to kill us tonight and we really need to stop losing the ball in our own defensive third.
