We need a striker.

I miss when we had killers on the pitch. Rooney, Cavani, Zlatan were the last. Gyokores might have been a better purchase

I wanted Gyokeres, but to be fair - he's looked more like a lumbering Championship player than "killer".

We need a goal scorer....
Mbueno can do it but we haven't had a proper fox in the box since RVN, RVP or Cavani.....

Intelligent strikers have an instinct at an early age of what needs to be done and if they are blessed with speed and good technique then they are going to be good...it would be a very hard thing to coach.
Would you say Chido has that instinct?

I think we will see Sesko start this weekend and given his last couple of starts I just hope his two games on the bench haven’t cost him his confidence.

Dont think we need a striker. We have Sesko to develop and Mbeumo does very well up front too abd offers sonething different.
Better to invest elsewhere

Oh please. If he has such fragile confidence then he is not made for this level simple as that. He is a young player in a new league doing all right. Has time on his side. But he needs to man up. He has all the physical tools to succeed, technique, football brains. The only thing currently holding him back is his belief in himself and that he is too nice to opponents. As soon as he starts believing that this level is not above him and starts to bully defenders a bit he will take off. We should organize him a few psychological sessions with Zlatan to bulk his mentality up. :)

Indeed. Not perfect but midfield overhaul will give us much stronger boost.

Depending on Dorgu and if he can keep this form, but we might look at another speedy winger before a striker. But that is still miles miles behind midfielders we need.

Yeh we definitely need a like for like replacement of Casemiro. Honestly can’t cheapen out on this. Get the best. Even if £100m.

I have a thing on Sesko. We bought him at a huge cost, to perform perhaps not immediately, but soon enough, and definitely not waiting 2-3 seasons for him to grow up. The same apply to Yoro, when people said he is still young. I accept Heaven is young and need time to develop, but not on purchased player anywhere over 20m.

Likewise I cannot accept ETH and Amorim were taking their lesson at our expense.

We did so in the past. Ronaldo, Anderson, Nani, Amad were all not cheap, and yes you develop them. Cannot be compared to a manager for obvious reasons

Welbeck isn't a bad shout . He still can't finish like elite but his overall game is quite good. Would be a perfect backup striker if we get into Europe.

Next summer it's definitely 2 midfielders and 1 left winger above all else. The squad is pretty good with quality and depth everywhere else where we could handle European football if that happened IMO (on the basis of we lose just Casemiro, not both Casemiro and Ugarte). And then it's just replace who goes, so if Ugarte leaves then we get a 3rd midfielder. If Maguire leaves, we get an experienced CB. Amass joins the squad as a 3rd LB option so we have more cover for Shaw if his injuries pick up again.

This doesn't make sense, a player's age does not change if you pay more or less for them. Isn't Heaven older than Yoro? Or does the bigger fee age Lenny faster?

I think that with Yoro costing a lot more than Heaven, it would indicate he's a stronger player/further along his development pathway. Cost is definitely a factor i'd say.

Surely more to do with the fact Heaven had not signed his pro deal?

How are people coming to the conclusion this is a priority when we already have two who sit on our bench and are one of the top scorers in the league?

It's about the only area of our team that us functioning correctly?

Meanwhile we have 3 midfielders and one is leaving in 4 months and another is rubbish.

I mean we literally signed 3 players who can play as a striker in the summer. One of whom can only play there.

We already have as many goals as we managed in the entire of the last league campaign. There's 13 games left.

This place just baffles me so much sometimes

I’ll be honest, I’m delighted we didn’t get him, I had a bad feeling he was going to flop in the premier league. Sesko is no great shakes so far either but at least he has time on his side.

I'd not be adverse to Welbeck as a cheap back-up, he's the only one out there that really knows and understands the pressure of being a United striker

Its definitely a factor but either way, a players cost does impact performance/output expectations.
I get the expectation part re Yoro - but it would not make me judge him differently to heaven. I'd get it if Yoro was older by a couple of years but he's younger.

Re Striker - I think Mbuemo is now No1, Sesko is No2 (and will be eyeing up being No1 in a season or 2) then we have Cunha who can also play there and some young guys like Chido who might be good. What would be ideal is a bit of a journeyman like Jiminez (free transfer) or similar who is solid, PL proven but will be happy potentially starting almost no games. Basically as reliable a 3rd choice as we can find.

Anderson and Nani played regularly, although Anderson was somewhat not up to standard. If I remember correctly, Anderson was the most expensive among the 3. So 1 failure, 1 success, 1 super-success.

Amad was loan out for development, but if my memory correct, he cost half of Sesko. First of all, are we in any position to wait and see? And so perhaps Antony might be a world class jewel, if only we can be more patient?
