A promising continental manager does well at a midtable club every season, being touted as a replacement for a big club, only for them to move sideways to a marginally better club before fading into obscurity once more.

Whenever you don't want a team to concede in the last minute...they concede.

Peter Schmeichel was the only goalkeeper to stand in the middle of the goal when the opposing team were taking a free kick. All other goalkeepers leave a bigger gap on one side meaning the opposing free kick taker will aim for the side with the biggest gap.

Every season there is a saga with a United player with the media saying they will leave at the end of their contract. e.g. De Gea, Fellaini, Martial Shaw etc. There is not a chance any of them will ever leave as we will happily pay double what any other team will pay them for them to stay.

The last 3 years Young plays 3-4 excellent games, while in the rest 30 games he is gifting the ball to the opposing team.

West Ham sign more players than any other team but they are either all injured or don't make it into the starting line-up.

Players no longer have tucked in shirts. Players with tucked in shirt are usually tidy, no-nonsense with their play.

There is a strong correlation between how good a player is and how many YouTube videos there are of him.

Only the world class players have entire channels dedicated specifically to them.

Every hyped player has a new compilation made about him every week on YouTube.

Small players will always get fouls called for them that tall players won't.
In all the years I’ve watched Stoke I don’t think Peter Crouch has ever won a free kick.

I'm convinced that you an get away with one thing on the likes of Fellaini whereas the same thing done to someone like Silva is considered a foul.

Watching an opposition keeper come up for a corner is one of the most nerve wracking experiences you can have as a fan even though nothing ever comes of it.

From a German perspective:

Dietmar Hamann is actually a native Englishman.

Lukas Podolski has never got older than 25.

On the contrary, Bastian Schweinsteiger was 30 years old when he left Bayern Munich and 50 years old the next day, when he started at United :-)...

Germany wasn't Germany for a couple of years but is now back to normal.

If you're talking about the country this is also true but for 45 years.
