Pro Vercelli have won as many Italian championships as Roma, Lazio and Napoli combined (7; as have Bologna and Torino).

Scholes’ best ever season for assists was 7.

Paul Pogba has got that in the first 4 games of the season.

fecking hell, that's actually insane. Real Madrid, for all their CL-conquering exploits, have definitely underachieved in La Liga over the past decade. They won two league titles with Cristiano effing Ronaldo.

Apart from a period in the 90s, the only other time AC Milan retained the scudetto was in 1906.

No team in particular.

Ronaldo won the league more times with United than Madrid.
They faced Barca with peak Messi, that's why they couldn't win more Ligas.

Drew with Chelsea in 2016
Drew with West Ham in 2015
Drew with Fulham in 2014
Won against Everton in 2013
Drew with Chelsea in 2012
Lost to Wolves in 2011
Won against Portsmouth in 2010

Accidental handballs are ok as long As it’s the attackers in the box and not the defenders….

I've always felt that the best teams win the league, whereas that's not always the case with the CL. When you look at the Barcelona teams Real had to compete against its easy to see why they barely ever won it

Minamino has scored 7 goals from 800 minutes of play this season. Scored more goals than Rashford or Sancho and as many as Messi this season.

1. Man United if winning at half time at Old Trafford, haven't lost since 1984. We did this 6 times last season away to other teams.

2. Uruguay won the world Cup in 1950. There was no final.

3. Liverpool went 68 home matches without losing at home. They then lost 6 in a row. They haven't lost at home since.

4. Lindelof is the last player to score from a corner for us in 2020. Liverpool have scored from 16 corners since.

5. Barcelona played Dundee United 4 times. Lost all 4.

Didn’t Uruguay beat Brazil in the 1950 final ? Or was it not a “final” because Brazil only needed a draw to win the World Cup?

It was played in a group/league format. De facto that match was a final as it decided who would top the table. And you are right, that's exactly why a draw would have been enough for Brazil.

One of football's most interesting stories , Brazil only needed a draw to win it and it was almost guaranteed in their minds , maracas was packed and ready to go bit much to their dismay Uruguay pulled one of the biggest upsets in history and player had to be escorted underground from the stadium to not incur the fans wrath.

Teaches you to not be ever too sure of something.

And they even took the lead early in the second half. It must have been soul-crushing, no wonder it's basically considered a national tragedy.

That IFK Gothenburg have won the same number of major European club trophies (2), as every French club combined.

On the subject of Uruguay, apparently their 1954 team is considered by many people to be the most talented one that they've had, and the Hungary-Uruguay semi-final was quite widely considered to be a de-facto final before West Germany had other ideas.

There are weekly stories about how Poch isn't getting the most out of PSG players, players wanting to leave, Poch wanting to leave, the football is crap etc etc................and they are 13 points clear at the top of the table.

It worth starting a new thread “World Cup years”. So many fascinating stories to read.

They had some world class players in that team. Superstar players like Santamaria, Valera(captain), Juan Alberto Schiaffino ( one of the best players in the world at that time) and V.R.Andrade. They performed superbly in tough group stage against Czechoslovakia, Scotland and Austria , never conceded any goal and demolished a great Scotland team 7-0. They surpassed to quarter finals against England, England had some great players like Wright, Finney and Matthews but they were not a problem for that Uruguay. Uruguay won easily 4-2. After they surpassed England, they gonna faced one of the best teams of all time "Magyars team" that had players like Czibor, Budai, Kocsis, Hidegukti and Bozsik. They gave a great fight, however they lost 4-2 against that Magyars team. Their last matches was against a marvellous Austrian team that lead by Ocwirk and Hannapi and they lost to Austria and got a 4th places.

Based on pure talents, I would say yes they probably had a better talents in 54 . Santamaria, Leopardy, Abbadie, Hohberg and a lot of youngsters were debut at that tournament mixed with veteran players like Obdulio Valera, V.R. Andrade and Schiaffino and they got one of the best teams in the world at that time. Unfortunately, they faced the best teams in the world at semi final and lost against another great team ( Austria) in third place play-off.

Puskas was injured and couldn't play against Uruguay.

This is a great article about Uruguay 1954.

Thanks that's very interesting.

And apparently their 1990 team notably with Enzo Francescoli was considered to be their most talented World Cup squad since 1954, though Ruben Sosa's penalty miss vs. Spain seemed to be stand out moment.

Danilo Pereira is the second highest scorer for PSG in the league after 23 games played this season. With 4 goals.
