Welcome Matheus Cunha!

For that money I just hope he has an actual key place in the squad and isn't going to be shoehorned in some random position that isn't going to do him any favours.

This guy is going to be absolutely class for us. I've wanted him here since last season and he's going to have a similar glow up as when Mane joined Pool. I honestly think he's going to become a world class player for us.

I also said that Amad would be fantastic for us when he joined sunderland and predicted that he would lock down our right side in due time and that Scott Mctominay's best position would be as an attacking midfielder.

Basically it's been proven that i'm some kind of football oracle and my word cannot be doubted. So sit back boys and enjoy the ride!

Imagine Bruno and him in the same team. It’s going to be mint. I really hope Bruno stays and we are finally going to see some exciting football

Yeah very true, for a while United have zero fear factor, the opposing manager just has to do a few minutes on the United team, 90% focused on Bruno, it's incredible easy to stop United.

But with Cunha at least the opposition will have 2 players to look out for, add a Top CF and suddenly it's not so easy coming to Old Trafford.

A 10 who can beat defenders with a dribble will make a big difference. That's one thing Bruno doesn't have. Garnacho can, but then he doesn't know what to do after getting by the defender. A lineup like this is exciting:

..............??
.......Cunha.....Mount
Dorgu.......?...?...........Amad

Excited about this transfer but I’m afraid to be too positive. I remember reading the opening reactions on the Caf when Antony signed for us …

He's specifically bought to be one of the two 10s?

I recall reading that Garnacho had poor stats last season for taking on players, as in, he didn’t manage it often. He runs at players a lot but I’ve not seen him properly leave a player like Cunha can.

Him joining regardless of CL and the fact that he didnt change his mind even a bit after Europa League loss made me think Ruben had manage to convince him and he bought into Ruben's idea and system. So I think he will play his heart out than being the lazy bastard he's been potrayed as.

I noticed that too. And yeah, it's super annoying to play against. Especially for me who seem to lose 95% of the 50-50's
Feck you and your 5% - I've managed none

I don't know what that ability is, but having it is a great asset - there are some pub players that always come out on top in those duels be it calf strength or whatnot, I don' t know.

Sorry it's slighty off topic but Adam Clery's stuff is great, I'm kind of glad he left FourFourTwo to focus on these videos on his own.

Coincidentally he had a realistic team of the season video recently (like an actual team that would work, not De Bruyne & Fernandes in midfield like most of them have done in the past...) but he included Cunha as the Left sided attacking midfielder/Winger in that video as well so he's obviously rated highly.

Also interestingly in the team of the year video when deciding on the formation he pointed out that 3-4-3 might be flavour of the year shape-wise next season so hopefully (and it's a big hope) we might be slightly ahead of the curve with Ruben.

Matheus Cunha: Premier League’s Top Walker

Football is often associated with high-intensity sprints, relentless pressing, and tireless running. Yet, Opta’s latest tracking data challenges this narrative, revealing that Wolverhampton Wanderers’ forward Matheus Cunha leads Premier League outfield players in time spent walking during matches. Remarkably, Cunha walked for 77.6% of his total playing time this season, showcasing an unconventional yet effective approach to the game.

What about data for the bolded?

The difference we had a shit manager back in the day, who showed nothing regarding tactics and system becuase he shat his pants. Cunha is also guaranteed quality coming from EPL at the best possible age while dominating fro Wolves, not 22 year old from shit one team league with no defence.

If Amrorim successfully finishes what he verybravely started - kicking out not good enough overpriced players like Sancho, Rashford, Antony, and has a chance to fill in the holes in the squad, meaning, we sign a decent striker, midfielder and hopefully a goalkeeper too, Cunha will be a massive hit. We played very well at times and lacked about 5-6 key players most of the games. That will change massively with new season and proper pre-season.

Really excited by this transfer. A midfielder who carries the ball and bears platers for fun has been missing for years. It will really open up the game for us as it pulls defenders out of position.

This feels like a proper good, sensible, low risk, high reward transfer. Ineos have done some good business since they came in IMO.

He will fit right in cause no one works hard in our team anyway.

As Wolves are mostly a counter attacking team it means very little as most of that time was spent waiting to receive the ball on the counter.

One thing I really hope for is that he doesn't come here and start picking up injuries. We seem to have such bad luck with that

Good signing. Paired with a competent forward and another 10 (I'd absolutely love Mbuemo) and the goal scoring problems likely vanish.

What’s his best natural position? I can see he played in a few different positions for Wolves last season. Good to have that versatility though.

I think the interesting thing is his ball striking, from that video. He highlights that Cunha is just a great striker of the ball in terms of velocity and placement, which explains some of his xG over performance (though scoring directly from a corner is not likely to be a common occurrence...).

Interesting. I like the signing which is not usually a good sign.

Sorry what more defensive? My God Amorim hasnt a clue

Well that’s completely shut me up. I was about to post in this thread to say that it wouldn’t surprise me to see Cunha as our 9 this season if we’re looking to save money and see Bruno as a 10 still.

The further back in a defensive role would just about sum us up if that happened!

Why have we been so against signing players from other PL clubs in the last few years?
Cunha and MBuemo would be two great signings.

They are going to have to be great, because they may be the only two we get. Read the rumored wages for Cunha at United will be 200k, up from the 120k he was recently earning at Wolves from signing the extension. We couldn't have got him to agree to a deal at 140, 150k a week? Some people may call this nitpicking but we're seeing how hard it is to offload players we want gone that were vastly overpaid.

Not starting tonight for Brazil , if he gets on lets hope he keeps safe.

Observations in Brazil vs Ecuador match.

He does walk a lot with a lack of intensity in closing down opposition. High presses from our side will be easily found out as Cunha just doesn’t press well.

He is a luxury player. In my opinion, we have replaced one player in Rashford to another in Cunha who can irritate the fan base if it is going wrong and all they are doing in walking.

If Enrique can do it with PSG, Amorim can change him too.
