Much more involved and lively after moving to that supporting forward instead of no 9

Cunha assist to Vini

Feck me. I'm blown away by his pace to get to that loose ball from so far back. Also his anticipation in the first place to pounce on it.

Hope he brings a few others with him to Old Trafford

From the highlights he seemed to have played on both left and right side as an inside forward. Is that a capability that he has in his locker?

He originally is a modern forward type, Luis Suarez type. All action in all phase of attack. Ball carrying, wing play, overlapping, running the channel, make run at far post… He’s not clinical enough, nor imposing presence up front, so the supporting forward role fit him better. Freedom to move around and get more possession of the ball.

I think he’s fine on either side, the only difference being that he can cut in onto his right foot from the left and he has a good shot from distance. But in the highlights posted above you can see he can also put in some dangerous crosses too. I think he’ll feature on the left and him and Mbuemo will be inverted for their goal scoring threat mainly, but we may see them swap at times.

Obviously never easy when its just clips and highlights but really looking forward to seeing him in a red shirt, looks the business. Just gotta hope the OT pressure doesnt sink him like it has done with others

So much for him not being willing to press

I've been saying this. Not only are they wrong, they're very wrong. He's very effective in the press, his defensive work is good and I'm pretty sure that his defensive stats for an attacking player are actually very good.

I honestly don't know what some people have been watching, if they have at all!

Yeah I think a support striker role in a 4-4-2 could suit him if Amorim doesn't work out. Mbeumo would obviously be fine too and so will Garnacho if he's still around. Amad's the one that's losing out in that situation.

Is there even a pic of him in a United shirt yet that’s not photoshopped?
Where’s the signing photos?

He will be doing that in next couple of days, admit I jumped the gun thinking he would be back from Brazil today

Longer highlights. Looking at the qualifying table and having read elsewhere, I think Paraguay are quite a stubborn team with the third stingiest defence having conceded only 10 in 16 games. So this game is somewhat reflective of the 'low block' issue some may with Cunha's qualities. Obviously it won't be the same as Brazil had 74% possession with players like Rafinha and Vinicius Jr on the pitch ahead or/with him in a free flowing formation. I'm only basing this on highlights so those, who watched the full game may fill in or correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm extrapolating but this sort of confirms what I had thought he would offer for us. He's a player that likes to face the goal outside the box, has good pace/physicality, can take on players, play passes, be in the half spaces and puts up a shift with his pressing, tackling and aerial efforts. Instant upgrade on Garnacho and will allow us to stay in the final third of the opposition area with his hold up and decision making. He's capable of loose touches, doesn't have the most precise passing and probably isn't someone you're going to rely on making those near post/penalty spot runs consistently. We'll definitely need a striker and Dorgu or whoever the LWB better be up for it physically to make the over/under lap runs and have the technique and decision making to interplay with.

As an individual talent, we've overpaid but if we get our other transfers right (Mbeumo, a striker and a midfielder), he'll definitely lift the overall bottom and ceiling of the team. Not that it was particularly hard anyways but given what we've witnessed for the past 12 years before, this is a step in the right direction.
