Welcome Senne Lammens!

First clean sheet of the season in gameweek 7 when GK is changed, who would have expected that

A GK affect's the performance of the whole team.

When the GK is shaky, the insecurity permeates to the whole team
So true. We saw this once VdS joined. A huge mistake by Fergie before that.

The "are you Schmeichel in disguise?" chants made for a good laugh. Our fans have been so scarred by recent keepers that we'll show our appreciation for anyone who does the basics right.

Imagine, paying only so much for this keeper compared to Onana... Investigations have to be had regarding ETH signings. The amount of money we paid for absolute dross.

I laughed when every high ball catch was jeered. The fans were surely having fun out there.

Probably because while leading by 2 goals, even loud fart sounds funny as hell.

Dodgier than a Boris COVID contract!

The press sure are making a mountain out of a molehill with those ‘Schmeichel in disguise’ chants. I actually saw it being discussed on Sky Sports today  I guess humour cues go over their heads or something

Next week they’ll be discussing whether a goalkeeper is actually ‘shit ahhhhhhh’ because they heard it being chanted at some random game.

fecking hell, really?! so many of those sat in the press box are so far removed from fan culture. They're oblivious to what the average matchday experience is like.

26 is a step too far. Sell if not showing promise after 25. This club has given too much sympathy over the years - CUT ALL TIES IF NO INSTANT SUCCESS.

He is a young and inexperienced GK that came into one of the biggest clubs in the world and in the most competitive league in the world and instantly made the position his own.

No mistakes, no nervousness, no hesitation whatsoever. Given our GK situation, it's absolutely incredible that he carries the responsibilities, expectations and burdens so well for a very young GK.

What is his kicking like?

Does he usually always go long or are these just instructions from Amorim?
To the last question, I think it is defenitively a change in emphasis from Amorim on playing less out from the back and going more long with focus on winning second balls, seeing as it started already with Onana.

About the only aspect of his game I wasn't impressed by yesterday. Thought Bayindir was better. Lammens beats him at everything else so far though.

his ability and willingness to come off his line to deal with crosses and corners has been pretty impressive and it's a MASSIVE thing for the defenders knowing they have a keeper who will

It’s so interesting how quickly the game changes, 2 years ago it was “has to be a ball playing goalkeeper” now everyone is trying to go direct and all you want from your keeper is a safe pair of hands who can command the box.

Lammens is a better passer. Maybe we didn’t get a chance to see it yesterday but he is better for playing out from the back.

There was one backpass that put him under pressure and he kicked out between the Liverpool press and hit...i think Casemiro?
Really didn't see anything that suggests Bayindir is better...at anything.

Hope so, it was only one game anyway.

I'm not saying he made huge errors playing out from the back. He didn't as far as I know. He just wasn't very accurate with his long kicks. They ended up in no man's land quite a few times.

As has already been stated part of the game plan was to get VVD to move out of position and work on the 2nd ball

Playing out from the back in a weak league is not the same as doing it in the Premier League....even Onana looked good doing it before he came to England!

Yes but at least he has demonstrated he can do it. Has Bayindir showed he can anywhere?

I don’t think it’s unfair to say it wasn’t great, although the context of being at Anfield and probably being instructed not to mess around is a factor. I think his kicking accuracy was 23% or something. Also we had no real target man up front for most of the game, so there’s that too.

For the moment though I really really don’t care too much about that, he’s looked solid and capable so far and after two years of Onana I’m so so grateful to see a keeper do the basics of catching a ball and stopping shots.

Stop being obsessed with playing from the back. There are a lot of different ways to play football.

I prefer a proper GK who saves shots and command his box than a clown like Onana and nerve wreck like Bayindir.

BTW, he is decent playing from the back too if needed.

That was the one thing Bayindir did show. He's pretty good at those long passes. He was far better than Onana at least. Not great at anything else though from what we've seen.

Bayindir is terrible at it, he had a standout game doing it but has been useless every other time.

Also I don’t think these are aimed passes as before, I think the idea is to win the second balls.
