What do we still need? Aka The never ending story

A striker all day long.

Not necessarily a traditional cf, but someone who can put the ball in the back of the net. To be fair, we need a few of those.
 
Needs the usual Utd sources and the likes of Ornstein to talk up us signing a LWB and ST, however won't happen unless we get something concrete on making sales from them too
 
Dean Huijsen is really good. The thought of him and Yoro in our back line is enticing. But I’d expect an exorbitant fee would be needed to get him - and this would only work after the likes of Lindelof, Evans and potentially Maguire (he’s done well recently) are no longer on the books

Can't fathom how Bournemouth had a free run at him. Would have been a great pick up at the price he was sold and not as if he came out of the blue either - frequently used to see match comps of his on twitter.

I admit to not watching them that closely but I don't see Ramsdale as being that inferior to Raya. Maybe Raya just has been more secure or more calm? But yeah the main thing here was that Southampton are getting relegated so maybe we could save some on the budget and get a keeper that is miles better than Onana and could come in and start right away.
 
Matz Sels really impressing at Forest. Could we make a Van Der Sar esque move for him? Love how he commands his box and is a very strong shot stopper. I'm still not convinced by Onana.
 
I'm amazed there isn't more chatter around Elliot Anderson he's been one of the best midfielders in the league this season and at just 22 is exactly the profile we should be going for.

I thought he was MOTM when Forrest beat us at home a few weeks ago and the stats would support that.
Made 6 tackles, Ugarte 3 Mainoo 1.
Made 5 dribbles, only Amad made more with 6.
Made 2 interceptions more than any Utd CM and only Dalot with equal.

Every analytics site I use keeps show Anderson as one of the best CM's in the league. He really should be a high priority signing but I fear clubs who actual use data like Liverpool/City are gonna nab him.

With his Spanish ties, I wouldn’t be surprised if Madrid take a look at him after missing out on Yoro.

Great find from Forest tbf. There are goalkeeping gems out there if your scouts know their stuff. Vicario for Spurs was a bargain, Emi Martinez for Villa, Pope at Newcastle, Flekken at Brentford, to name a few current keepers in the Prem.

All very solid keepers bought for less than £20m.
 
So judging by the main rumors right now, something like this might be possible for January?

  • Rashford out (loan, Italy)
  • Casemiro out (full sale, Saudi)
That's clearing out an absolute fortune from wages, probably 800k per week worth. Would be an absolute dream scenario and I don't really believe that we'll actually manage to get Nuno Mendes just yet, but that would set us up really well for the second half of the season I think.

Can see Bruno being played more and more as a number 8/CM next to Ugarte as no 16 in your squad, And Mazraoui being used as WB/CB/Utility player, so United will need in the next two windows; 2 Goalkeepers, LCB, LWB, CM, DM, Left footed Number 10/SS, CFW.

Completely agree... Anderson is outstanding. He'd be top of my list of targets for midfield.

I'd go for Gibbs-White also if possible but would probably prefer Cunha.

I don’t think you need to upgrade on Mainoo, I just think you need competition.

We aren’t getting Kvaratskhelia, we can’t afford him.

So for me it’s LWB, CM, ST make do with the CAMs, as Amad plays there with Maz continuing at RWB.
 
Would Marco Asensio be useful in our system? PSG need cash. Triple deal for Mendes, Muani and Asensio?

He's decent but certainly by no means the primary reason for Forest's defensive record.

Also soon-to-be 33 and he hasn't shown any real ability with the ball at this feet which makes him a questionable fit stylistically.

Douglas Luiz is realistic too, however still have doubts whether we are even interested

It would be for sure, we obviously need players but I think the higher ups have already wrote this season off and looked to summer.

We might get a loan player or something bit I can't see anything major happening. I hope I'm wrong though.
 
What we need more than anything is to sell players. That doesn’t appear very likely this window so it might just be a couple out on loan. New signings will likely have to wait until the summer but maybe we will see one late in the window.

16 MC - TBC Agreed. I can see this being a rotation option defensively sound playmaker type like Pepelu/Stiller/Larsson/Bellingham (Jobe)/Nico Gonzalez/Bischof
17 MC - TBC I think this will be one of the youngsters like Kone/J. Fletcher/Devaney. Amorim only seemed to use 3 CMs in rotation towards the end of his time at Sporting (Hjulmand, Braganca, Morita).

GK - Personally, I would like to see if Vitek is up to the challenge of being no. 2 when he returns from his loan. Would save us £15-20m to be used elsewhere and adds a homegrown player to the squad. Also if he performs well like Kelleher has for Liverpool, we suddenly have a £20m asset on our hands or if he does extremely well, someone who can displace Onana for free.

WBs - I agree we need a new starting WB like a Mendes or Kerkez, which is why I’m not too big on the Dorgu shouts for now. For RWB I would be trying to get Quenda from Sporting who looks like a special talent and can play on either side as a WB and probably further forward too. For squad depth, I would then get Tariq Lamptey for free from Brighton who is OOC.

MC/AM - to solve this conundrum I would sell Garnacho to help fund our summer, then bring in Angel Gomes to provide depth across both MC and AM. I really like the look of Chris Rigg and think he could be a superstar. With us likely to lose quite a few homegrown players over the next couple years, I would choose him over Mastantuono but would not complain one bit if we signed him either.

If cash is tight. Loans for Luiz and Muani . Think we are allowed two per season. Potentially a swap deal Kvaratskhelia for Rashford (rumoured , but very unlikely) and a cheap left back option. Alvaro seems most likely. Still not sure its a massive upgrade on what we have and need. We badly need a world class 9. Shame we cant just throw some cash at Osimhen. Then in the summer go for a full re build.

Vitek is impressive. I also like the limited amount I’ve seen of Harrison. I may be way off base but I sort of think they are strong in where the other is weak (Harrison good with the ball, Vitek commanding).

After today, maybe Bayindir steps up more. Or at least his value is raised.

I share your skepticism on Dorgu. I’ve heard too many people who watch him regularly say he’s not ready and may never be near United quality.

Quenda seems special. Doubt he’ll go for less than the release clause (£80m or thereabouts). I worry about Lamptey’s injuries.

Rigg will be class. I’m not sure Gomes is physical enough for Amorim’s system. Garnacho, when humble and working hard, is a great prospect but certainly not unsellable. I’d only sell him now for silly money (£60m minimum).

You’re spot on about homegrown players. I believe the rules are about to tighten? There’s a few interesting youngsters in the Championship we could look at. Rigg and Bellingham probably the standouts.

Which wound cost £35m+£45m plus £5m loan fee so £85m out and £100k wages + £150k+£180k = £330k

Casemiro out - £25m/350k
Rashford loan /£7m + 1/2 wages £160k
Generate £32.5m and save £180k per week for 1/2 a year = 4.7m saving

Where’s the the extra £50m coming from
Might be done truth in Garnaucho leaving too ?
