What do we still need? Aka The never ending story

If no more business is carried out....then lets go baller league ! we'd get spanked most games but we can at least laugh about it.

Well we already get spanked most games. It's not as funny as you might think

We really need a elite, press-resistant CM but if we get Gyokeres with the sales, I really don't know how to afford one. Carlos Baleba and Adam Wharton would surely cost around 80m, Hugo Larsson would be a bit cheaper but still around 50m. Maybe we could try to sell Ugarte and Casemiro. But it looks like a position we will likely adress next summer.

I wonder with PSG fishing around another midfielder, could Warren zaire-emery be tempted to United. An exceptional player who is still ridiculously young but might find his path into PSGs midfield blocked with Neves, Ruiz, Vitinha and now Masta.

Yes he is also very interesting. But kinda doubt he'd leave PSG

Feel like there's a lot of robust, athletic 8s out there. I'm baffled there's no heavy links to any while instead we're linked with €40mn bids for 32 year old keepers

Cunha and Mbeumo is a good couple of signings.

Think we need a right wing back and keeper. Dont see us getting more. Then its over to see if Amorim to see if he can get a tune out of it - would probably have 7 of last seasons players in next years starting 11.

I don't think Ugarte is going anywhere.

Had a indifferent season, but had no pre season due to the lateness of deal and PSG exiling him from the squad, will have a look at him and we need 1 so won't be trying to buy 2 this summer.

Larsson is a player I really like, tall, fast, physical and technical feels like a player we will go after next summer when our attack is sorted and funds can be aimed at midfield.

I do like Djaoui Cisse at Rennes, 21, 6ft 1 all action midfielder, question is can he make the step up now or does he need another season of development.

Would say CM and keeper, however still believe that number 9 is next on the priority list whether that's right

Would mbeumo not play upfront? Thats my assumption if the deal goes through.

He played all across the front 3 for Brentford and we dont play with wingers

For me the biggest needs are a proper midfielder and a quick and mobile CB. I feel as if no one really talks about CB targets but I think this is key to make the system work. Maguire is too slow, not sure about de Ligt. We cannot start both together. Yoro and Heaven are (talented) kids. Martinez is out and Shaw cannot be trusted. Mazraoui is not really a CB. We need 3 CBs who can drive forward and/or left on their own with the wingers/wingbacks attacking.

We need players all over the park and while I don't disagree with what you said, I don't think this is the window to be going after another defender. I think its the one line of our formation that you could broadly describe as adequate or has the smallest gap between a top six side. Meanwhile the midfield, forward line and gk need urgent repair.

Like someone else said recently it feels a bit like

Summer 2024 - defence rebuild
Summer 2025 - attack rebuild
Summer 2026 - midfield rebuild

Mind you need to add a GK/CM in this window too

For me, Bruno has put a spanner in the rebuild. I do understand he probably saved us from relegation last season with his goals but it was time for him to go. With United buying 2 #10's and a #9, Bruno will have to drop into midfield. Our midfield was every teams b***h last season and will be again in the upcoming season. We need players who are press resistant, can pass the ball short distances and have some toughness.

Last few seasons we are always trying to hit teams on the break which can work in knockout tournaments, but to challenge or win the Premier league, this sort of playing style is simply not good enough. Even the so called lessor teams were dominating our midfield.

With the money from the sale of Bruno and other outgoings we can easily rebuild the team for the upcoming season. Gyokeres seems to want to sign for United according to some reports today and that will be great.

I would then go out and get Adam Wharton and Zubimendi ( I heard he is hesitating to sign for the Arse) or Baleba.Last resort will be Youssaf Fofana. That is our midfield sorted for the next few years. We would still have Casemiro, Ugarte and Collyer to back them up. I know a lot of people don't like Ugarte but I do. He is press resistant in some cases, retains the ball well and the best job he does is, he passes the ball short distances. That is something I love to watch and hate the hoof ball football we play at the moment.

I would then replace that clown in goal with another from Europe. It's a shame that Georgian keeper signed for Liverpool last year. Under no circumstances would I want the other clown Martinez to replace Onana.

If we had any money left over, I would try and get a left Winger/fullback. I know he is young, but I just don't think Dorgu has the qualities. I would love to see Miguel Gutierrez signed from Girona.

Then I would try and get Xavi to manage this team. With need a Spanish manager to not only manage the first team, but train the youth teams as well. Xavi might not win the league, but he will certainly will get the squad playing a great style of football.

Selling Rashford and Garnacho will make it possible

Selling Rashford and Garnacho will make it possible
It won't get anywhere close. Rashford will be sold for pennies on the dollar. I mentioned this with Pogba, that he was not as good as he thinks he is and won't get many suiters for his services even as a free agent other than Perhaps PSG and Juventus Turns out PSG were not interested.

As for Garnacho, maybe Napoli might put up some money based on his potential,, but it certainly wont go above 50 million. I would add Kobbie to the sell list. Skillful player, but his sluggish movement means he won't have a place in the team if we got the players we need.

Striker
We need a striker that can:
Occupy defenders, stretch the field, be a box presence and good enough in the air to take advantage of the deliveries from Dorgu, Mbeumo, Amad and Dalot.

CM/DM:
Everyone keeps talking about a press resistant and progressive midfielder. I agree that these traits can't be completely absent from the player we sign. However, we cannot forget that Bruno will mostly play in one of the spots therefore, what we need is a player that compliments him. We need a:
Tall/aerially dominant, athletic, duel winner with excellent ground coverage. Needs to be decent at press resistance and ball progression but these are secondary traits.

GK:
A technically sound shot stopper, whose a good communicator and can command his area. Doesn't need to be the best with his feet but can't be Bayindir level terrible either.

We still need an upgrade there and Theo is one of the best left backs attacking wise. Wonder why City and Madrid weren’t in for him though as they were both interested in left back position
He played for Real Madrid in 17/18 and they did not like what they saw.

My God Sancho and Rashford, these two shit players still in the United line-up, unbelievable, after what Rashford had done to Unai, and kicked out of Villa.

United is going for Gyokeres as striker and Emiliano Martinez as goalkeeper. For midfielders there is a variety of players to chose from: Lamine Camara, Khephren Thuram, Franco Mastatuono, Hayden Hackney and José dos Santos Lourenço da Silva Éderson.

Ducker saying we are looking at strengthening wing back position, and the midfield as well as looking for competition for Onana.

Maybe striker isn’t on the cards this window?

When does the summer clearout begin? The longer it takes the more their value drops.

Players that must be sold:
Rashford
Sancho
Antony
Malacia
Garnacho

Players who may be sold:
Onana
Hojlund
Zirkzee
Mainoo
Collier

Players who have little market value:
Casemiro
Shaw
Martinez
Bayinder

Onana from Villa can do this. There must be others in the French league that can as well.
Onana has been discussed so much on this forum before the went there, but in the end he is not that good other than defensively and physically. His passing, press-resistance and ball-carrying isn't good, is it?

You never know they may come back and actually want to be professional footballers again........although I highly doubt it !

we most DEFINITELY need an upgrade in the double pivot positions....need guys that are more athletic and guys who understand how to play simple and move the ball quickly

Definitely a player who's much better than his fbref profile makes him look. If you watch his tape, you can see him do all those things but may not necessarily do them at volume. I'd absolutely love him in the team. Baleba would be my first preference but Onana would be pretty high up after that and has the ground coverage and speed to somewhat mitigate Bruno's loose possession style.

Cunha
Mbeumo
Gyokeres
Maignan

This would be a dream window.
Literally just upgrade 4 starting positions with the most proven players. We aren’t in the position to be taking many gambles.

that would be 4 outstanding additions...yes, along with a CM. Potential A+ window.

If we had the money, Baleba would be the most obvious signing. A top top DM who's not limited to his defending. Unfortunately he'll be too expensive for this window, but I'd expect him to stay and maybe next summer we'll go into a bidding war with the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool?

Striker is definitely on the cards, be surprised if we went for wing back and disappointed it's only competition for Onana

My dream next year would be:

-------------Gyokeres
-------Cunha---Mbeumo
Dorgu-Ederson-Bruno-Amad
-----Martinez-De Ligt-Yoro
------------Emi Martinez

We'd need to shift a lot of players to make that happen.
