What midfielder is suited to partner Bruno in the double pivot?

How was Richard Rios last night? I missed the game but he seems to have received a very good rating. Don’t think he works as a partner to Bruno though - probably instead of Bruno.
First I’d heard of him was in the “future stars” type thread and refuse to watch the world club cup.

Watched some video of him and seems to have a bit of everything. Anyone watch S American football and know more about him? Fee touted looks low

Rios looks quality but cant help but feel he should have moved to europe a year ago after being impressive at the Copa America
Yeah have seen posts suggesting he can't be that good if he hasn't secured a move to Europe at 25

Apparently Dortmund is rivaling Milan for Jashari now. Would be incredibly stupid by us if we sign Nmecha for big money, while they get Jashari. We can't let that happen.

Who is best fit for Ruben's system out of

Jashari
Nmecha
Rios

Bruno shouldn't be in the midfield. We should go for a proper CM to partner Mainoo/Wgarte/Mainoo rather than chasing a SS to play #10.

Bruno, Cunha, Mount, Amad and Mainoo (when we need him) is a good enough for the two #10 spots in a season with no Europe. A striker and a midfielder should be higher priorities.

I agree that Bruno should be in No-10 but my main concern is that leaves Cunha,Mbeumo,Amad,Mainoo,Zirkzee to fight for one spot which is insane.

My only hope is either Bruno/Mainoo can do better in No-8, if they play next to someone like Ederson,Wharton, Baleba kind of players.

We still need a CM,GK,CF and a wing back, Looks like Mbemo is more of a luxury signing now though i like him at UTD.

It's pretty insane that our first choice midfield is Bruno and Casemiro in a 2 currently. And that we have been looking to spend £150m on attackers, mainly on 10s, without addressing that or having been linked to any CMs.

I was thinking the same thing. We're reinforcing one of the areas where we're currently best stocked, while leaving gaping holes in CM, ST, and GK, and going into the new season planning on playing our two best players out of position (in CM and WB).

Where do you get your figures from? £62m + £65m is not £150m.

We lacked goals last season.... we are looking at 2 players that got goals in the PL last season. B

Bruno has been playing CM, from when he signed, there was always talk of his best position being a CM. He has looked much more comfortable in the 8 in this system.

Ugarte is probably going to partner him in that position this season.

Exactly my sentiment's too. We really need a strong CM and a proper GK to give ourselves any chance next season.

We already bid £30m for Delap.

It’s closer to 200 million £. Try to keep up.

Best hope is to put deal in place for Baleba next summer, could have happened this one if Bruno went
What I meant was someone in that ilk. Highly physical with good quality on the ball too. I know it's a unicorn profile, but this is the time we can take some punts.

We don't have the money to buy ready made players in all positions, after sorting out the front line, midfield and GK can be where we take some punts.

Hopefully our new and improved data analysis team can unearth someone that can do the business.

And our issues in build up and contending for the ball athletically will continue so unless Cunha and the freshly built attack can continue over performing their xGs we will have issues.

That ship has sailed and I can't believe our football brains trust couldn't see something this obvious. We needed to do a big rebuild so that we finish the upcoming season from a position of strength and we messed up by not pushing Bruno out.

Our big problem is we don't have the insight to see these players when they are not in our leagues. We have had this issue for over 15 seasons and I am certain that after Chicharito we haven't had a single successful punt.

Interesting... Bruno is not athletic, but probably covers the most distance in our team. We have just seen PSG dominate and win the CL with a midfield of Neves, Vitinha and Ruiz... yet you think that to improve on 15th... we need some super midfielder.

Our biggest issue was lack of goals.. we have gone out and got PL proven goal scorers.

Do you not think Cunha and Mbuemo would bring athleticism and power to the team?

They will, to a degree, but let's not forget that we are playing a two men midfield and Bruno+Ugarte aren't the most athletic around. If we, as we look to have done by spending 120m on Bruno's replacements upfield, set on playing Bruno in midfield we need a partner that covers whatever weaknesses he brings and has the athleticism to plug the holes that Bruno will leave when wanders up the pitch.

Bruno covers the most ground in our team, are you talking about strength or athleticism?

We have not spent 120m on Bruno's replacements... it was obvious last season that Amorim didn't see Bruno as a 10... he wants players that can get the ball back to goal. We are replacing Garnacho, Rashford, Anthony, Mount etc... in the 10.

Also... we dont need 5 players back when we attack... no team has that many.
