What should the expectations be for next season?

We really have to know who's in the squad before we can set reasonable expectations for it. We have no idea who the Casemiro replacement will be, whether or not we'll be completely reliant on Shaw again, and even whether De Ligt will make a full recovery.

Pretty mad, now that we can start thinking about this season in the past tense, that we rallied as well as did from the dire straits left us in Amorim without our two starting CBs for almost all of Carrick's tenure.

Not happening unless we get atleast 6-7 Starters even then its a Big ask , this is the team with just league to concentrate on that would end up with point total of high 60's with performance Level of low 60's .

This squad isnt ready for Title challenge .
I am more optimistic as we will definitely strengthen with CL in mind and playing 2 games a week. We have a functioning football structure to plan for that. We will also have more budgets due to money from CL. The signings have been very good with this new football structure.

For the team, hopefully Sesko, Dorgu, Cunha, Mbeumo, Heaven, Amad can improve and gel together better with another year together. We also have promising youngsters coming up. Perhaps Gabriel, Lacey and Chido?

I have faith in Carrick and Holland to further improve the team with reinforcements that suit their style of play. I think the club will sign at least 4-5 players especially in 2 midfield, 1 left wing, 1 CB and 1 LB.

Hence, the expectation should be better than this year 3rd placing. I expect title challenge - 2nd or 1st.

The expectation is going to be that we will hopefully have a new vibrant midfield that will more than compete with the top midfields in the Premier League.
The expectation will be that if we do not add to our centre of defence we will continue to see our seniors be out for long periods with injury so hopefully Yoro and Heaven will continue to improve and make those positions their own.
The expectation should be that our attacking players are of a good age and should combine better as a unit now they have played together for a season.
I expect to be entertained.

Trophy and title challenge. If we can finish 3rd playing like dirt for half a season, it’s clear the standard isn’t high currently in the league, and I don’t expect next season to be very different.

Not sure this is fair. Top 4 should absolutely be the minimum we get… but finishing 3rd this year you have to think about the teams around us… Liverpool had a very bad season, Chelsea have had a ridiculous season and Villa lost a lot of form and started focusing on the EL… so we could have easily of finished 5th if you take that into account. Top 4 finish and a lot more consistently good performances should be the aim.

Top 4 while Improving our points tally and a domestic cup will be delightful.

Ask Bruno - He wants the Prem bad. Not sure how he will take it if the goal is top 5 and a run in the Champions league. On his interview he was also saying that they changed their mindset to being the main character. Meaning start acting like we are a big club. Even if we loose have that mentality. We are Manchester United. So to echo Bruno. Win the Prem. Its about mentality. If everyone is saying top 5 and players have top 5 in their head then that is not the mentality of a club that will win the Prem. Real haven't won the league for 2 years and they are losing their sht. Their goal next year is not second. Barca have not won the Champions league for 10 years the goal is not to get to the quarters. Aim for the stars not for the moon.

A big part of our problem under the Glazers is that often when we seem like making a breakthrough the recruitment tends to be dire, killing any progress.

It will be interesting to see if Ineos can break that spell to help us push on or if it will be more of the same.

After Van Gaal got us into the CL our main signings were Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger, Martial and Depay. Ten Hag's second season, after a promising first, saw us bringing in Mount for 50m plus.

I dunno about next year but this time last year I’d have been shocked if you’d told me we’d finish 6-10 points ahead of Liverpool and 16 ahead of Chelsea

Football eh,

Expecting us to challenge for the title next year is quite the stretch. City and Arsenal are significantly better teams than us and are also going to be active in the market. It's not like we're the only club looking to buy players while the others do nothing. I would also say they're a more attractive club for players to move to.

Qualify for CL again. Get out of League stage of CL. Maybe a cup. Then following season strengthen the squad even more and challenge for title. Do not expect a title challenge next season. Think it is more about getting CL money in the buy players at the moment.

Every Trophy. As it is for me every season.

You're right about City, but there's nothing about Arsenal's play this season -- and yes, they've got a pretty firm grip around the trophy at the moment -- that argues that they're significantly better than United this season. The table is the table, no doubt about it, but watching them play the game I just don't see them being significantly than us. Put differently, under Amorim we were undeniably worse than Arsenal but under Carrick -- which is almost half the season -- we've been at least their equal...and of course we fully earned our victory over them.

Many underestimate the benefits we had playing 1 game a week. That goes away next season. We'll be relying more on top quality squad players which we currently do not have. On top of that key players such as Casemiro, De Ligt, Martinez, Shaw, Bruno and Maguire would have left the club, are injury prone or/and will be 1 year older.

Our target next year should be

a- get rid of as many deadwood as humanely possible. The likes of Bayindir, Mount, Ugarte, Zirkzee, Rashford and co needs to leave. We should also get rid of players who are injury prone before they get injured once again. A good offer for Martinez and Shaw should be considered.

b- we should be active on the market. We need at least a LB, a CB, 3 CM and a backup striker. INEOS must provide us with plenty of dosh but that money needs to be spent wisely as well. We can't sort all our issues at 70m a pop

c- we need to introduce more kids to first team. Vitek for example would be an amazing no 2.

d- some kids need to go on loan. I am referring to the likes of Chido and the Fletcher twins. It makes zero sense keeping them at youth level.

d- CL qualification should be the target. We'll build from there

Top 3 finish, domestic cup and QFs of the champions league. It’ll be a tall task but I believe that represents progress if we can manage multiple competitions.

Defense is also a massive part of how good a team is. They're brilliant defensively. Conceded 26 goals in the PL, and 6 goals in their entire CL campaign, and they're in the final. Honestly, it's just incredibly impressive from a defensive point of view. Assuming they improve their attack (which they undoubtedly will this transfer window), they're going to stay a significantly better team.

Well apparently if Carrick had took over at the beginning of this season, we would of won the league. So, since he knows United and the United way, I expect nothing less than a league title.

Top 4/5 and deep cup runs.

A clear progression in our play - to be able to dominate games and move the ball around with purpose and look like carrying a threat for 90 minutes. An end to the 30/45 minute lull we have in every match where we cede the ball to other teams.

The aim should be to better our points return from this season in the league, make a respectable showing in the Champions League knockouts and possibly win a domestic cup. It'll be easier said than done with all the additional matches next season but it has to start with ambitious recruitment in the transfer window.

Liverpool and Chelsea will be stronger next season but so will we. So top 4 will be a fight but should be our main goal. We will not challenge for the PL or the CL title. Hopefully build momentum and challenge for the PL title in 27/28.

Don't forget that people thought that was a superb set of purchases at the time though. And 2 actual midfielders!

Would need perfection signings wise and quick integration into the team to make a proper title challenge.

Obviously failing that, do to midfield what we did to attack this season and increase the level of the backups.

We don't even want to think about what happens if we're starting the likes of Ugarte, Mount, Zirkzee and a couple of others very often. Hopefully we can shift a couple of those.

Top 4 finish. A cup win. Quarter finals of the CL will be awesome and ready to win the PL in the subsequent year

Finish in the CL spots, get into the CL knockout stages and have a decent run in at least one of the domestic cups. I also want us to be moving towards a playstyle that I could see actually competing as we strengthen the squad further.

Even with new players (who will largely be replacing players who are leaving) our squad isn't deep enough for me to realistically expect more than that considering how many more games we'll play. Anything better will be a happy bonus.

I'd take a "boring" top four finish with a decent cup run. The club needs stability before attempting a title challenge.

A season without us seeming on the verge of crisis at one point or another would be nice. A sustainable style of play for 3 games a week would be even better.

It's highly dependant on who we bring in, especially in midfield, and how quickly they can gel. Not being overrun and outplayed in games is a must. I'd say the bare minimum is a top 4 finish and getting out the CL group stage. Hopefully at least 1 good cup run but again - highly dependant on who we're drawn against.

For me:

1. Top 4
2. Decent showing in the champions league
3. No managerial drama, Carrick sees the season out on merit and isnt sacked by Christmas due to poor league form

Top 2.

I can accept us being pipped to the title, there are other teams ahead of us, but we’re about to finish third - what is this talk of top 4……4th would be a backwards step?

Pool have been shite this year, but we should be aiming to creep in front of Arsenal (I still consider City to be outright favourites for the league next year)

  • Next season has already started. With that in mind, a preemptively optimized recruitment strategy and maximization of allocated resources. Acquisition of sumptuous playmakers is the need of the hour.
  • Lammens (top 3 goalkeeper in the league), Mainoo (top 8 central midfielder in the league), Šeško (top 5 center forward in the league) and company getting closer to fulfilling their potential.
  • More fine-tuned style of play and improved fitness levels. Predication on control, half-turning and press-resistance in packed midfield zones as well as incision in attack, while maintaining balance and collectivism of course.
  • Adaptability and grit. Sustained werewithal to weather the storm and pick up unlikely points, one of the hallmarks of ascendant teams.
  • Increased ability to dominate the opposition, especially in possession. Paired with increased ability to deconstruct stubborn low-blocks.
  • Champions League qualification. Baseline expectation for a club of Manchester United's stature. Do it.
  • Progression to the knockout stage of the Champions League. Evidencing the nous to keep it somewhat competitive versus teams that are undoubtedly or even notionally better than us.
  • Positive showings in domestic cup competitions. Hopefully, we will end next season as FA or League Cup champions.

We can't set our expectations to be worse than this year? We will finish 3rd. The expectations next year surely must be better? 2nd or 1st? That's title challenging season.

For CL, with the new format we can clear the group stage at least.

For the domestic cups, play the fringe players and youngsters. Anything is a bonus.

The focus should be only on PL and CL.

Just to play good football be competitive in every game. If you do that, chances are you finish high in the Pl and might pick up a cup or two.

Depends massively on our recruitment in the summer but realistically, would be happy enough with:

Maintain our position in the top 4.

Get to at least last 16 in champs league.

Win one of the cups.

Show progress with our system and style of play.

A couple of academy players establish themselves in first team squad.
