Are the girls back in training yet?
I would guess not. First match is 7th September, so they're not on the same schedule as last year.

We've got 4 players away with the U19s until August (though they may have already had a main holiday) and 3 of the WWC players played right until the final weekend, so they'll need a break.

That said, we've got a preseason friendly scheduled for the end of July, but I'm assuming we'll suppliment the squad with players from the U19s/U21s for it.

A lot of players are away this week due to the women's internationals. Most of them have mid-week internationals as well before returning (fully fit we hope) in time for the derby match on Saturday.

Euro qualifiers
Jackie Groenen played
- Netherlands beat Estonia 7-0

Jane Ross, Liz Arnot, Kirsty Smith played
- Scotland beat Cyprus 8-0 (Jane scored)

Hayley Ladd played
Wales best Faroe Islands 6-0

Friendly:
Abbie McManus and Mary Earps played
- England drew 3-3 with Belgium
Mary Earps came on as sub when England were losing 3-2 so she shouldn't feel too bad about the score. Abbie might not be too happy though.

Ella Toone is away with England U21s, Lotta Okvist is with Sweden. They're playing in a mini tournament.

Some of the younger ones like Lauren James may be away at training camps as well.

Incidentally, Northern Ireland lost their Euros qualifier by 6-0 as well. The margins in some of the games are a bit of a cautionary tale really. With FIFA increasing the size of the WWC next time, and the professionalisation of some leagues - some of the winning margins may look grim.
