James is not fecking better than Rashford ffs. Come on people. James will be on the right, Rashford left with Martial central and often times Rashford and Martial being together in the middle or rotating. James is in good form but that doesn't mean he is in any way ahead of our 2 main attackers.

If his initial run at the club is what the fans expect to be his norm, the lad is doomed.

Seriously. Kid comes from the championship where he scored 5 goals all season yet suddenly he's going to start ahead of Rashford on the left because of his "goal threat" after a couple of goals. Come on. He's promising and had a good month, but in no way does he start ahead of Rashford on the left, who was playing very well there but had a bad game as the main striker with Martial out.

Surely picking a player on form takes precedent?

Well that's better than forcing an idea he's better on the right without even a single game to prove that , especially when you want to play Rashford on the left who has exactly the same problem you see in James while playing there.
Did I say James was better on the right? Did I? Please show me where I said that

It's all relative... People expect a lot more out of Rashford than James, and rightfully so. One person surprising everyone doesn't mean he is all of a sudden more useful to the team than one of our main players. James has a ways to go til he's ahead of Rashford in that sense.

Really impressed with Rashford's performances on the left. His deliveries have been impressive too.

James has been great so far with his finishing touch but leaves a lot to be desired in other parts, his final ball needs a lot of work and needs to stop hitting the first man. He only seems to be comfortable when hes in the box.

He can start on the right. That way he’ll score more goals with his right foot because his left foot is poor.

Another positive thing of him starting on the right is that we won’t see him cut inside and trying to have too many long shot.

He should be given similar role as how Eto’o played with Inter on the right.

You've been really impressed this season with Rashford, honestly?

I don't think Rashford should start - he's not in good form. If he does, then wide right - he's no striker. Martial as No.9 and James on the left.

-------------------De Gea------------------

--AWB-------Lindelof----Maguire---------Young

-------------McTominay------------Matic--------

James--------------Pogba---------------Rashford

---------------------Martial-------------------

Think this would be our best selection from the squad we have atm.
The youngsters would be on the bench and brought on gradually.

On the left yes i.e Chelsea and England.
Based on form, James deserves to play in his preferred position (LW). Rashford was okay on the left for one game (Wolves) where he got the assist and put in a perfect cross for Martial to tap in, which he completely missed in the end. Second half he did nothing! RW for Rashy should be fine, they're all flexible/interchangeable so they can always swap over.

He'll keep playing in the hope he re-discovers his form. Not that he deserves to. Problem is, what do you do, bring Lingard or Mata in?

This Rashford in a Fergie-era squad would earn his place from impacting off the bench. Problem is he's almost guaranteed a starting spot and he's incredibly inconsistent.

As with all players who pose a great threat, opposing teams devise tactics to nullify that threat. It's quite often why young players can burst onto the scene and then seem to plateau for a while until they can develop a response. Because opposition teams devote resources to stopping Rashford other players can benefit from the extra space.
The underestimation of one of our own youngsters is staggering.

Slim pickings in this version of United.

So at least for next game, answer is as striker.

Rashford for me should start on the left of a front three but interchanges with Martial throughout a game to cause opposing defences problems, if everyone is fit then I think we could have a very talented left side with Shaw, Pogba, Rashford and Martial all combining.
