Which is more important: a top striker or a top right-winger?

Cavani good for time being. Definitely for this year. Possibly next year, possibly Greenwood will be ready to step up as the striker. Right wing.... Rashford I actually have hope for out there. Really like the look of him on the right with a proper #9 central, but early days. Martial we hope can get back to last seasons form, though on the left. Greenwood of course huge potential and can play in any of the 3. So for this season, we're fine.
  • If Rashford can't perform on the right or find consistency, then definitely right winger needed. But he's a hope. Greenwood can fill in but he's not long term guy there for me. He's a striker.
  • If Cavani can only do this season and Greenwood isn't ready to take over as striker after that, then we need a striker like Haaland.

A winger. An actual top level right-winger would make our attack explode, i'm sure of it. Midfielders, strikers.. all of them benefits hugely from having two top-notch wingers. Cavani and Greewood alongside Martial is surely good enough cover for now, no? At least if Cavani can hang on for a season or two.

I used to think right winger, but after seeing Cavani's recent performances I've come to realise how much a proper CF can improve our attack in terms of linking up play and finishing even half chances. It's shocking how we've never had a proper one since RVP.

We need to start looking for one ASAP outside of Haaland as it's a snowball's chance in hell we actually get him.

Right winger.

Martial can compete with Rashford for a spot at the left.

Cavani upfront with Greenwood backing him up.

We haven't had a proper right winger since Valencia broke his leg.

Here is a twist.....left wing. I like Rashford as a right winger and would love to see what Amadou Diallo does there. What I don't trust is Martial on the left. I think Greenwood will take over from Cavani, and simply having him rotating with him right now would be good for us. On the left flank, we have far more buying option than on the right. Who knows, Grealish could become a possibility if we open ourselves to that prospect.

Winger.
A) we have 0 decent out and out right winger.
B) many players can play striker position in the team.
C) we have little width. As teams men up on bruno those on the flanks will be freed and strikers will get lots of tap-in.
D) I want to know what a decent winger can do to this team after looking at what a decent striker can do after watching cavani. (Our last out and out true winger was nani ffs)

Just no. No more wingers in right backs, no more CM in DMC, left wingers on the right, wide forwards as number 9. We should stop shoe horning people for the sake of it. Sign a established winger and let this rashford, martial, greenwood and maybe cavani compete for striker and one left winger role. Then as we phase martial and cavani out, we will need a left winger to compete with rashford. Move greenwood up top, and sign a striker few years down the line as he matures.
This club needs to stop shoe horning people and start getting players for right positions to compete at the top again.

I have big hope with Rashford Greenwood Diallo trio for long term but two of the three are not ready.

If we have RVP quality striker now, we will be challenging. Issue here that not many world class striker out there available.

Haaland was the one, which is funny because the majority of our fans didn’t even want him because “we have Martial”

Yup, clear as day with Cavani that a proper striker is the most important piece in an attack.

Or also because we have Greenwood?

Haland level is still not world class level imo. Really good & super talented striker but still not in world class bracket yet. He‘s bit of bottle from what I have seen, which common for young age striker. I have seen him missing good chances when he needed to put them in for example against Bayern and last week Stuttgart. He scored against Bayern but they were already 3-1 down, he had the chance to make it 2-1 up when it was 1-1.

I would love Haaland but ideally we need a well ready world class one like RVP level and there is no one available. If we can make Spurs fails to qualify CL next season, Spurs might be forced to sell Kane, good option.

Greenwood doesn’t have the physicality to play as a lone striker in the PL.

The only players at the level you’re describing are probably Lewandowski, Kane & Ronaldo.

There is a reason why I said Greenwood isn't ready & not many world class striker out there available.

Right now, given that we have Cavani and Greenwod, the greater need for us is a RW.

But in general, a top striker every day over a top RW.

Neither. What we need is a top DM. If the base of the midfield is quality then everything else will work for us.
Yes. Cavani is are striker now and Greenwood is the future. Fred, McT and Matic are not quality enough at the base of the midfield.

Striker for me.

Play Rashford on the left and Greenwood on the right. And then buy a world class striker. I empathize world class.

Put Martial on the bench.

Rashford should not be seen as a first team player for a team wanting to win the PL and CL.

His just not intelligent enough, we've seen time and time again his decision making isn't any better now then It was in 2015. I like and would keep him as a rotational player for the attack.

Right winger for me. We have no natural fit there. It would give us a threat from both wings, give us more space going forward as we can spread the play. I cannot work out why we haven’t signed one for years, such an obvious upgrade.

Definitely a striker for me. Look at the success Fergie had with buying big when it came to strikers and also depth.

Just the same way that Fergie neglected CM for years as well and that caught up with us eventually

Completely agree. I have no idea why we didn’t go in for Partey. Perhaps Ole believes Fred is the man for the job.
Well he is bloody naive thinking that to say the least, I like the look of this Zakaria but he has only just come back from a big injury but absolutely convinced Ole has no plans to sign one any time soon

Atm a RW. We need to fix that Kola hole first. And it's not like we can sign a top striker this Jan anyway. No one would agree to sell their top striker middle season.

Then I'll wait till summer and revalue things again. It's 6 months till then, lot of things can happen.

We don't need a 'top' anything. We need a decent RW. We have five players that can play CF and zero decent RW options.

Forget Mata and James, they're not even close to being good enough. Also forget about the two children we signed in the summer (I'm not expecting miracles from them in the future, either).

Zero RW options. We just need someone with pace that actually wants to take on a player. Anybody!

A top striker for sure. But it really depends on what's on the market. Personally I think Haaland would fire us to the top way more than Sancho, but he's unlikely to come. Sancho too at this point.

Haha come again? Is that because they apparently, none of us actually know the discussions that happened, weren't willing to pay north of 100 million for a young lad who could have very easily been the next Kagawa or Mkhitaryan.
