Which players should stay for the rebuild?

Bruno
Amad
Yoro
Heaven
Dorgu
Zirkzee

Not arsed about anyone else. Martinez will likely be unfit for purpose after his injury.

Keep
De Ligt
Mazraoui
Martinez
Yoro
Heaven

Dorgu
Dalot (ideally as backup to new RWB and RCB rotation option)
Amass

Bruno
Ugarte
Mainoo
Collyer

Amad
Mount

Keep short term
Maguire
Shaw

Zirkzee (as backup to new AM - get rid next summer if no improvement)

Hojlund (as backup to new CF - get rid next summer if no improvement)

Get rid
Onana
Bayindir

Evans
Lindelof

Eriksen
Casemiro

Garnacho

people are harsh on Mazraoui who cost 12 million and was mostly brilliant, it's baffling.
He's probably one of the most common player in people keep list? Doesn't say much considering where we are but the majority on here seem pretty content with him going off of peoples list.

Leaving out the "prospects" in the squad the only players deserving of wearing a United shirt after this season is Bruno and Amad

Should definitely keep:
Amad
Mainoo
Yoro
Heaven

(one of four I'd be fine with letting go when a crazy crazy offer comes in)

Should keep (as there is probably no chance of bringing in funds that would replace the player)
Hojlund
Bruno
Collyer
Ugarte
Maz
Dorgu
De Ligt
Onana
Amass

(if unexpectedly, great offers come in, there is a good chance of me taking them)

Ambivalent
Martinez
Dalot
Mount
Garnacho
Zirkzee

(All of them are good players, potentially very good ones. But I personally don't see them being good enough for what I envision our team to be. That said, I think, they might be the easiest ones to sell, so I'd definitely look for interest. Wouldn't be mad though, if they would be kept because for where we are, they are more than good enough players.)

Get rid as soon as possible
Eriksen
Casemiro
Shaw
Evans
Lindelof
Maguire
Bayindir

(some of them good servants for the club, so no bad blood but time ran out a while ago and we should be konsequential not wasting minutes, that could be very benefitial for young players on guys like that who for sure aren't the future of the team)

If I were in charge, we'd be going scorched earth this summer. Amorim and his 3-4-3 would be shown the door and we'd begin our rebuild with a 4-2-3-1 in mind.

First eleven:

-Bayindir, Lindelof, Eriksen, Casemiro, Dalot, and Evans would all be shown the door.
-I'd be keeping Hojlund, Shaw, and Onana not because I want them but only because no club would be crazy enough to buy them.
-Martinez would be relegated to the reserves simply because he's becoming a player who is too injury-prone to be relied upon.

Five new players in the starting lineup and we might be able to compete for top 6 next season.

Out of interest why Moorhouse? I know very little about him but he hasn't played with the first team yet. I'm probably being ignorant but is he considered a top talent?

There are obviously players we will keep as probably be unable to sell for value like Mount and I expect Shaw too....and I still feel forgetting injuries and form, we have half a decent squad, not as bad as people think, despite the obviously awful seasons performances and points.
WHo would I keep for sure:
Mazraoui
DeLigt
Martinez
Dorgu
Yoro
Heaven
Mainoo
Amad

Actually reading back....eight players is bad

And yes before people mention, not named Fernandes....we are talking about a 30year old with big value who isnt ideally suited to the systemand this is a rebuild. Obviously it would take a big offer and he has been by far our best player but we are talking 3/4monthsof each season....he isnt untouchable in a long term plan.

On theflip side there are several players people not mentioning on sell lists that should be...Dalot is definately onefor me, we can get a goodattaking rb and profit on doingso selling DAlot

There isn't going to be a clearout this summer. And with some players, such as Casemiro, it's likely they'll just run down their contracts over the next two seasons. Lindelof I believe is at the end his contract, and I'm sure Eriksen is, and both should and will walk away.

The better question, which we've been talking about all season, is what/how we do need now.

It's as clear as can be that our greatest needs this summer are, in this order:

Striker -- Hojlund isn't good enough and should be sold or loaned out
Keeper -- Onana isn't good enough and needs to be sold
Right Wingback -- Dalot isn't good enough but he can be a competent squad man for us

Taken from our squad list on our website. I can't comment on any of the youngsters who haven't played any senior minutes yet as I don't know enough about them to make a judgement

If I were in charge I'd play some of the youngsters who are close to first team action/have been named on the bench for the rest of the season so I could assess just how ready they are as the PL is a free hit now. Would give the crowd something to cheer, and see whether any of them could save buying in a position, even if they were only ready for sub, and if any need a loan

I can't remember everyone's contract situation so some labelled "sell" we may just be able to release

Altay Bayindir - keep as back up, provided Onana is replaced.

Amad - keep

Antony - sell, hopefully the loan has helped

Casemiro - sell, he's been a bit better lately, but the wages are too high to have him as a sub and his legs can't handle full games

Diogo Dalot - sell

Matthijs de Ligt - keep

Christian Eriksen - sell, same as Case his legs can't cope anymore. If his contract has another year, relegate to sub appearances in slower games then release next year

Jonny Evans - was solid last season and reliable but seems to have been out a lot with injury this season, and can see him struggling to come back at his age. Sell/release as his main benefits are now not happening

Bruno Fernandes - keep

Tom Heaton - I don't really know what he does

Victor Lindelof - Release

Harry Maguire - he's been OK when called upon this season, keep for this season as we have bigger problems then next summer sell/release

Tyrell Malacia - sell

Lisandro Martinez - keep on trial next season to see if he can become less injury prone then decide next summer

Noussair Mazraoui - keep

Dermot Mee - not seen enough to comment

Mason Mount - keep on trial next season to see if he can become less injury prone then decide next summer. Not happy about his wages, so if a really good offer came in I'd be open to selling

Andre Onana - Must sell at all costs. Liability.

Marcus Rashford - Must sell at all costs. Attitude/wage

Luke Shaw - Sell. The guy is one of our highest earners but barely plays as he's so injury prone

Manuel Ugarte - Keep

Joshua Zirkzee - keep, but on trial, there's glimpses, but I want to see more to see him as a long term

Harry Amass - Keep, give more game time for remaining dead rubbers

Toby Collyer - Keep, has done OK when played, give more game time in remaining pl games

Alejandro Garnacho - on trial for another season. Needs to improve decision making and finishing

Rasmus Hojlund - sell

Kobbie Mainoo - Has been quite injury hit this season, keep for another season but want to see him kick on, hopefully this is just 2nd season syndrome this season as he hasn't progressed after a strong season last season

Leny Yoro - Keep

Ethan Wheatley- Haven't seen enough of him to comment. Give some more game time for remaining pl games

Chido - Keep. Give game time in remaining pl games

Sancho - sell, too many attitude issues

Heaven - Keep

Dorgu - Keep

I would keep.

Dalot
Martinez if he comes back fit

Everyone else i am not arsed in the slightest. And to be honest there's a couple of names in my own list i think I'm being a bit soft on.

If we are talking in reality I think it's a case of sell sell sell and bring in decent players in ST, CM, CAM, RWB, GK

I think it's pretty clear that we have one of the weakest Man Utd squads in decades. Ideally we would replace 90 percent plus of the squad but that probably isn't realistic in the short term.

however which players do you consider to have a mid to long term future at the club and should be part of the rebuild?

You could make an argument for Garnacho but I don't really see him as a natural 10 so maybe he doesn't really have a place in the team. Players like Casemiro, Lindelof, Eriksen are closer to the end of their careers and should leave. Maguire too isn't a long term solution. The likes of Mount, Shaw, Martinez have so many injury issues it's hard to justify keeping them.
Can't really argue with that list except I think Zirkzee should probably go in an ideal world if we can replace both him and Hojlund in one go. Might be controversial on here because he's hit a wave of popularity recently but he'll never have the goalscoring prowess or the pace to be a genuinely dangerous attacking player for the level we need to be at.

Somewhat realistically: Yoro, de Ligt, Mazra, Heaven, Dorgu, Dalot, Ugarte, Mount, Bruno, Mainoo, Zirkzee, Amad and the youngsters.

Lindelof, Eriksen, Heaton, Evans are all out of contract. Maguire and Casemiro will have a year left, and would be a bonus to shift for more money than what they are owed. Rashford, Sancho, Antony all on the chopping block. Neither first team keeper is good enough, we'd be OK by getting in a #1 and having Vitek as #2. Suspect we'd sell Martinez mid-season if we got a good offer (he'll obviously need to prove his fitness first) purely due to his lack of pace.

The biggest question marks are over Hojlund and Shaw, as in, do we want to retain them. Obviously it will be challenging to find buyers for a lot of these players that will avoid PSR loss.

Not too worried about not having 40-50m to spend on each new player this summer though, Vivell has obviously had to focus on young players before and he's done pretty well all in all. Between him, Wilcox and Amorim I think we'll not struggle to find much better options than what we currently have, without astronomical outlay (excluding a bona fide goal scorer).

I sort of agree on Fernandes because of age and fit into the system, but I think he's just too important for us to sell, even for a big fee. I honestly think we might have gotten relegated this season without him. If our summer signings don't work out and/or we regress and end firing the manager, I'd rather not have taken the risk of selling Bruno. I'd keep for another year and see what we look like then.

Heaven, De Ligt, Yoro, Mazroui, Dalot, Dorgu, Mainoo, Ugarte, Fernandes, Amad, Zirkzee should definitely stay.

Mount will be hard to shift and I am keen to see him have an injury free season (if possible). Martinez is a fan favourite and a great character and will probably also stay. Hojlund I would likely keep as a backup striker, to see if we can see that development though, but I wouldn’t be against him leaving.

Everyone else can be sold. And from the original list if we sold Dalot for a good profit I’d understand it, and if Zirkzee was moved on for a good fee I wouldn’t kick up a fuss. Although I’d prefer to keep him another year.

GK: Onana, Bayindir, Heaton

AMC: Bruno, Amad, Mount, Garnacho, Antony, Rashford, Sancho, Zirkzee

STK: Hojlund, Chido

Black the ones I want
Red the ones that will probably stay

Players to keep.

Bruno, De Ligt, Heaven, Dorgu, Martinez, Yoro, Amad, Mainoo, Ugarte and I’m on the fence about Gernacho, Mount, Dalot.

I believe that Zirkzee deserves more time.

The ones who need to leave are:

Rashford, Onana, Shaw, Casimeiro, Anthony, Erickson and Lindeloff.

I don’t care about Maguire and I’m thinking Hojilund can have one more year as a back up.

Get rid/leaving:

Amorim
Onana
Casemiro
Hojlund

Colleyer
Rasford
Sancho
Evans

Bring in:
Iraola - cheap contract to buy out
GK

We have a decent squad to play back 4 formations. Just need a good spine in GK, CM and CF.
Sales from Rashford, Sancho, and Antony would help.

This seems to be a common question for years. When I really think about it, other than Bruno, Amad, Garnacho, Mainoo... I would see as the only ones as must keep.

The likes of Rasmus, De Ligt..... I would like to stay but I think as of now, along with everyone else is replaceable. A lot of players fit that category for me.

It's a cycle on repeat of need 3 or 4 transfer windows to get the right players in IMO.

There is a long term rebuild and then there is this summers window and the answer depending on which we are talking about varies greatly.

Looking at the specifics of this summer, we know we need additions and are likely going to be operating with a tight budget, particularly if we don't win the Europa League. On that basis we cannot ditch players that are not replaced as it will leave us light on squad numbers and we cannot afford to move players at a loss due to the impact that has on our ability to meet PSR.

We are losing Lindelof, Evans, Eriksen and Heaton on free transfers. I thought we would need to add another CB due to this but the emergence of Heaven means we are comfortable enough with what we have and we also have Kukonki knocking on the door of the first team squad.

For this window priority for outgoing sales should be

Rashford
Malacia
Sancho

All can be sold for knockdown prices and will generate positive cashflow to help fund replacements, especially Rashford. Sancho and Rashford are two of our biggest earners so also bring the prospect of big savings on the wage bill.

We could look at moving on the following but may struggle as we need significant fees due to current book value, all should certainly be in play for loan moves to retain/boost their stock to make a permanent move possible next summer.

Onana
Hojlund
Antony
Mount

High value sales, players we don't want to lose maybe but could be transformative to our budget

Mainoo
Garnacho
Dalot

Wishlist sales, probably won't leave willingly and won't receive realistic offers anyway

Shaw
Casemiro

I expect all of these players to be gone over the next couple of years but whoever leaves in this window will need to be replaced by an incoming body so working on the assumption of a minimum of 3 and probably a maximum of 5 new signings we will need to be strategic in our approach to the deals we make. Dalot for example is fully amoritized and would raise a decent fee but we are light on options for the WB positions and so even if we sign a new RWB this summer he adds value as cover for both WB positions and another player would be needed for depth if he is sold.

people are harsh on Mazraoui who cost 12 million and was mostly brilliant, it's baffling.
Agree. I dont think he is world class but he can play all across the back line and also can be a midfielder if really needed. All of that at a decent level. I doubt he is that expensive either.

I keep him around just to be a perfect squad player.

2 players in this squad that i like and would keep and thats Bruno and Amad the rest could be sold for all i care because they arent good enough or consistent enough to be where we wanna be and Bruno has his flaws and isnt getting any younger which is even more worrying. As for squad players id keep Dalot and probably Mainoo or Garnacho but if we needs funds we might need to sell them and out of the new signings Ugarte Yoro and De ligt but havent been totally convinved by De ligt. Promoted players from youth i like heaven the rest can go for all i care would love to see Lindelof sold its imperative i never see him play for this club again.

so martinez gets reserve because too injury prone to rely on.....then you have mount in the first 11. Yeahhhhh that makes logical sense.

Honestly, I think we need to massively change things. We have so many technically poor or slow or weak or mentally weak players. Obviously we don't have anywhere near the funds to replace all these players and we'll have to keep most of them, but if I could keep just the ones who are (or potentially are)worth keeping it would be:

It's interesting that centre back is now our most solid area after being our most problematic area for YEARS. Just goes to show the power one good transfer window can do. Ugarte was a slight miss at his price tag, but I'd say INEOS have made a very solid start.

4 new signings for the first XI doesn't seem crazy at all, although I'd personally not count on Amorim using Amad as a wing back.
