Reading through the threads lots of posters have very different priorities and ideas for which position you have to buy come the summer. Obviously RW is one that gets a lot of mentions, but also striker, centre back, left back, defensive midfielder are all positions posters have mentioned as the priority to replace.

For me a right winger should be your highest priority and I think left back and centre back are your lowest priority. If Pogba goes, which I think he will, then I'd put in Grealish as a high priority too.

Thread title suggests you KNOW that Solskjaer will be in charge next season. If you do then fair fecks. Otherwise maybe replace Ole with Man Utd/ we.

RW is top priority. I hope we don't let it drag on until after the Euros and end up over paying.

Get Pogba to sign a new contract, double his wages and throw the fat man a bone in terms of agent fees.

Add some depth through loans (e.g., Ceballos at Arsenal, Coutinho at Bayern), Youth squad, cheap signings at DM, ST.

A right winger by a mile, specifically Sancho. Would be a game changer for us. Also one injury to our main 2 attackers and we wouldnt be fecked as we'd still have 2 top dynamic players, before putting in a youngster like Greenwood or James.

2nd I'd have additional creativity in midfield (with Pogba leaving), someone who will challenge Fred and Bruno and rotate both so we dont overplay either or so we arent fecked if we get an injury. Grealish in my opinion is perfect for that.

All we need this summer IMO. Gives us a quality starting 11 and quality back up. Assuming Smalling stays, we can do:

De Gea, Romero
Wan Bissaka, Dalot
Maguire, Smalling, Lindelof, Bailly, Tuanzebe
Shaw, Williams
Bruno, Grealish, Fred, McTominay, Matic
Martial, Rashford, Sancho, Greenwood, James

Would be very confident going into a season with a starting 11 and squad like that.

RW, CM/DM, RB, ST, CB in that order for me. I doubt we will get more than 3 players this summer.

Sancho

followed closely by me of a playmaker defensive midfielder who will be crucial in setting tempo of passing

Btw, I wonder why people keep putting LB as a position to look in other threads. I think Shaw and Williams are good for that.

RB position needs to be looked at before LB. Dalot can't even defend. Who can we rely on there if AWB is out?

Sancho. Has to be the #1 priority this summer.

Also, still have Ole next season worries me more than anything.

still think this midfield is really light in quality particularly in deeper parts

Matic is too slow and out of contract in Summer

McTominay is a very decent midfield player but lacks the passing ability and Fred again is a good player

Grealish and Bruno will be wasted in deeper positions

theres not one of them with the ability of a Carrick/Scholes or Keane (who's passing was underrated) - a player to dominate and/or set tempo for our play

desperately think we need a big talent in that midfield if we are to properly progress

RW, Back Up Striker, & Pogba's replacement if he leaves are my two or three priority.

Hopefully our *new manager* prioritises players with some character who can actually play. Seems simple but we've been lacking for years.

RW and DM, in that order.

Other positions we could consider buying for (but only after those two are filled with the best quality money can buy): CF, AM, attacking RB.

Sancho, Grealish, Partey / Neves.

I really wish to see Ighalo come out good, and be made permanent, that will be amazing for him and the club. But if somehow it doesn't work for him, I really really wish we go and sign Adolfo Gaich.

But more important than the signings, I want us to get rid of Pogba & Lingard. Matic can stay for an year.

Rash Martial

Starting 11 pretty solid. What needs to be prioritised is the bench - eg. getting rid of people. Lingard and Perreira first and foremost.

Having finally addressed the number 10 position with Bruno, we should finally deal with the RW.

Sancho should be a priority. Between Bruno and potentially Sancho, we would win most of easier home games we have been dropping points in.

Next up would be a top class CDM

Players who will/should leave this summer: Lindgard, Pereira, Matic, Mata, Pogba

We need a RW, but considering who we are looking to rid ourselves off we will be left very light in midfield.

Grealish, Maddison and Sancho, then promote some lads from the academy.

I think Matic is probably worth hanging onto for one more season, you have no other player quite like him and neither Grealish, Maddison or Sancho can fulfill that role. He's a very useful option.

Our three midfield options for next year will be Fred, Bruno, Scott and will need two new midfielders
Our attacking front line will be Rashford, Martial, James and Greenwood and need a new Right Winger and a CF.

Fred, Scott, Bruno, Box to Box midfielder, AM.
Rashford, James, Martial, Greenwood, RW, CF.

I don't think we are going to have huge amounts of money to spend in the Summer and these four positions really need to be sorted.
I think our midfield is good at the minute with the above three but obviously three midfielders won't get you through a season.
I would love Sancho and would be brilliant and a couple of smart signings then in the other positions.

Possible Signings
  • Jack Grealish at a reduced price if Villa go down
  • Declan Rice/Felipe Anderson at a reduced price if West Ham go down (Don't rate them that much but for a decent fee I'd sign them).
  • Kalvin Phillips at a reduced price if Leeds fail to get promotion.
  • Van De Beek
  • Boubakary Soumare
  • Denis Zakaria
  • Konrad Laimer
  • Nevez
  • Werner -
  • Sancho
  • Coutinho - I would actually take him
  • Dembele
  • Raúl Jiménez

Overall if Ole gets rid of Jlingz, Andreas, Mata, Matic(32 next year), Jones, Rojo, Sanchez and signs four good players in these positions this Summer I think we will cement our position in the top four for the foreseeable future.

I don't think I could really take another season watching Jlingz and Andreas play. I just can't!

Ideally I would want a new fullback too, but hopefully we could make use of Dalot, Williams and Laird.

I know that people dont see the need for an attacking midfielder, but with Pogba leaving we need more options. We cant have one more season with poor Pereira and Lingard if someone gets injured.

I would also add that it depends a bit on what is available. I would love to see Partey in, but if we cant get a good DM maybe we should consider if it is possible to get a good central defender. Upamecano might be available. Playing with three at the back is a nice option to playing with a deep DM.

RW - a natural option in this position that would be as dangerous going forward as Rashford on the left

CM - A replacement Pogba option at CM that has a good eye for a pass to link the play from deep and pick out our pacey players.

CF - Someone natural in this position to give teams something else to think about.

I would be more than happy with those three players in in the summer

Possibly Sancho as the big transfer, followed by Isak (CF) and maybe sneak in and pick up Ceballos on a permanent transfer before Arsenal!

Apparantly Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang wants out of Arsenal for Champions league. Swap deal with some of our rejects perhaps if we get it?

I would glady give them all our dead wood in exchange.

RW has to be the priority IMO, followed by a DM. Add a backup striker and it would he a very good window.

I want us to sign Grealish but I don't see how him and Bruno fit into the same formation. Would be great to have several options of course but I don't see Grealish wanting to start on the bench and I I don't see Bruno as a CM.

This really depends on what position Molde needs the most. To be honest I didnt follow them lately so I have absolutly no idea. They won the league (or at least their part before play off) pretty convincingly with most goals scored and least goals conceded, so they wont need so many players. If they want to succeed in European football, that is some different story.

1. Central midfielder unless Pogba decide to stay. I would like him to move on because of all drama surrounding him (media, agents ...) We need steel and energy and a player like Ndombele would suit us well. It doesn’t have to be him but similiar qualities.
2. Forward. Whatever happens to Ighalo we need forward. A target man. A player that can do difference. I though we should have gone for Llorente In the begining of the season so a player with that quality.
3. Winger. If we don’t want to play players like Pereira in that place we got to buy. I am not in Sancho-is-best-thing box so I would go for Gerlish if Aston Villa gets relegated.

Get rid of Sanchez, sell Pogba, replace De Gea with Oblak. And you'll get a much healthier payroll and fewer players crying for a pay rise.
Besides other additions, this is also should be considered as a priority.

Call me crazy but if we were to keep Pogba, I would be happy with just RW and DM, as long as it was a case of Sancho and Ndidi/Partey.

I think a front 3 of Rashford Martial and Sancho with Bruno and/or Pogba behind them, with McT, Fred and Partey for CM would be fine. Would ideally like more but knowing the money due for them two I wouldn’t go over the top.

In an ideal world I would prioritise; RW, DM (and CM/CAM if Pogba goes), CB, CM, ST.

Right wing, central midfielder, striker, as others have said. Right wing must be nailed on first team match winner, centre mid someone of high enough quality we’d be happy playing then in any game, something of the Matic (who is finally starting to look like a Carrick replacement) about them, control, but with increased mobility and engine, striker could be one with great potential or a solid alternative option.

RW, DM and Striker for me then replace Pogba like for like if/when he leaves. I don't know if we'd have the funds to finance a move for Sancho without selling Pogba first though.

Our most pressing needs are

RW (Sancho) - Because we don't have one
DM (Phillips) - Because Matic's declining and he's our only natural DM
CF (Jimenez) - Because Martial is inconsistent
AM (Buendia) - To replace Lingard and Pereira and Mata as second choice for Bruno.

To illustrate our pressing needs

--------------------------De Gea---------------------------

-AWB-------Lindelof------Maguire---------Shaw

-----------------Fred------------Phillips---------------

--Sancho------------Bruno-------------Rashford--

------------------------Jimenez------------------------

Bench - Romero, Shaw, Tuanzebe, McTominay, Buendia, Martial, James(or Greenwood)

I think if we make quality signings in those 4 positions I mentioned we should he competing with the likes of City and Liverpool. We'd have a stronger side than Leceister has this season who are competing with City for second

If there’s a whiff of possibility in getting Sancho then that has to be the be all and end all. Any other targets can wait.

The defence and midfield are functional, we need that spark in the final third

Someone to challenge Matic for his role, a CB that can stay fit and RW. Kinda willing to forgo a striker with Greenwood, Martial and Rashford as the CF options. Bellingham as a Bruno rotation as well.

Agree with this, he is the 30 goals + assists type of player we need in the final third - a bona fide game changer. I also feel that he and Fernandes will add much more to our attacking output and transform the team a few levels up.

Which players are key, it still depends on many things like ;
How we finish the season?
Does the team make CL either through finishing 4/5th or wining Europa League?
Will we appoint a DOF?
Will we have a new Manager ?

Assuming that United Come 5th, Ole is retained and the club benefits from Man City’s expulsion then I can see the club recruiting a maximum of 4 players and losing 4/6 players.

Players Sold
Smalling - 15M, Lingard - 20M, Pogba - 130M, S Romero 5M (3 of these players are Raiola clients and the club will want nothing to do with him going forward!)

Players Bought
J Grealish or J Maddison 70M, A Ramsey 55M, J Sancho 120M, M Dembele 60M
Ole will want 2 MDF, RW, CF

Players Promoted
D Henderson to compete with De Gea, E Laird to compete with A Wan Bissaka and Dalot turned into a right winger

Final 20/21 Squad
D De Gea, D Henderson, J Pereira (3)
A W Bissaka, E Laird, B Williams, L Shaw, A Tuanzebe, E Bailly, H Maguire, V Lindelof, P Jones, T Fosu Mensah (10)
N Matic, Fred, J Mata, B Fernandez, *A Ramsey, S Mctominay, *J Grealish, A Pereira (8)
* J Sancho, D Dalot(RW), D James, M Rashford, M Greenwood, A Martial, *M Dembele (7)

This would be a net spend of £140-145M in line with our actual Budget and create genuine competition for places all the way through the squad, plus completely removing the Raiola effect and allow the team to create and score more goals, Ole is no tactical Genius but he knows his team are 20/25 goals short this season in the league alone, had they scored those goals they would be comfortably in 3rd place this year, so his priority, if he’s still in charge will be attacking players and remove the toxic influences like Pogba, Lingard, etc!
The only subtle change he may feel that he only needs Grealish or Maddison and not Ramsey as well and therefore try and sell Andreas Perierra and P Jones and use the 55M saved from Ramsey plus the players sales to bid £80M to buy K Koulibaly if we can get him?
Ole ultimately is a centre forward so his priorities will be attacking players 100%, the more important question is whether he will still be Manager having obtained 58-60 points and our lowest points tally in 30 years including David Moyes tenure and potentially 40+ points behind Liverpool ?

My point it’s probably more likely a completely new Manager will be in charge and a new DOF and they will have completely different targets to Ole !
