3 months until the season ends. I’d start the enquires now if I were Woodward.

Ighalo is a short term Lukaku void filler who I doubt we’ll make permanent. We still need the long term solution.

I can’t think of anyone obvious. Aubamyang?

Anyone who can run at the defender and has very good dribbling skills. Tired of seeing our strikers just stop when there's a defender

Raúl Jiménez would be a good signing, and should be at the head of the queue of potential targets IMO. Wolverhampton will undoubtedly hold out for a lot of money and he will be 29 years old over the summer, but you will get the finished article and a player who has transitioned seamlessly to the rough and tumble of the Premier League. Given his all-round play and partnerships with Jota/Traoré he should be an excellent pivot for Rashford and co. and he can also press from the front while doubling up as a vertical threat from crosses and long balls — which will give our defensive/offensive strategies a new dimension.

Werner is not very realistic, I'm afraid — he will be one of the most sought after players in the summer mercato, and we are not in the strongest position right now. Also, he is not a good partner at 9 for Rashford, at least from a theoretical standpoint — because they are similar type of forwards, and Werner has played his best football at Leipzig with link-up strikers like Poulsen or Schick. Someone like Petković from Dinamo would similarly be a better link-up striker for Rashford as he performs quite well with Orsić (who is their primary goal-scorer with almost 20 goals in all competitions).

Looks like Dembele has been Ole's long-term target so if he is here next season, there's a good chance that's the striker arriving.

Wasn’t Maxi Gómez reported as a target by Candena Ser for the summer? Allegedly we’ve been scouting him.

Dembele is the obvious target, gives a mix of everything Ole seems to want. I just hope with that we also get a RW and probably a 10 as I think Bruno will be played further back eventually If we stick 4231.

Raul Jimenez would be my first option. Strong, quick, good technique and finishing.

We need to wait and see what the new manager wants. If Ole stays we might try with King again or someone like that.

Think we should target the right wing first otherwise we will still be stuck with the same problem we have had since post fergie.

Still waiting for the Youthquake
depends who the manager is and how they view rashford martial Greenwood and even potentially Sanchez

But most probably we are linked with bids for Kane / mbappe / neymar which predictably don't happen

Then we get linked with players like Werner, aubamyang, haaland

And we end up overspending on somebody who has a half decent euros and scores four of five goals ... I'll guess milik for something daft like €100m

I like the idea of someone like Gaich. You see how well Haalands doing, could have a similar impact. Big, aggressive forward with scope for improvement.

I’ve been away from RedCafe and have been avoiding football for a while. Especially since the EPL seems to be conspiring to make Liverpool champions.
But anyway, back to the thread.
I think an ideal player to target, would be Odion Ighalo.
EPL experience and possibly within our Glazer led budget.
Don’t shoot the messenger!

A starter. A starting 11, first name on the team sheet striker that will shunt Anthony 'The Myth' Martial into his rightful place on the substitute's bench and if the fairweather feck doesnt like that, he can find a new club. I think many will be very surprised at the trajectory Martial's career will take over the next 3-4yrs. He is nowhere near as good as some think he is; he will slowly fade into obscurity after leaving United, I would bet anything on it.

It’s crazy to think that we’ve had/have so many players who’s best position is left inside forward. We already had Rashford and martial so we buy Sanchez. We then go out and buy James. We’ve previously also bought Depay. Not since the days when Valencia was a right midfielder (not even an inside forward) have we had a specialist on that right hand side.

Arguably Mkhytarian?? I just forgot he existed. Because like most of our recent signings he just fallen into black hole

Icardi. Not convinced he will go PSG after his loan spell and pretty much established player with a good scoring rate and young enough for a good few years.

unless Inter have misgivings after the dross you have palmed off on them.

The ‘dross’ we have given them have actually done well.

Lukaku is banging them in and Young got an assist on his debut.

They should be very thankful.

I don't understand people who want to sign Jimenez when he'll be 29. He'll be 31 or 32 by the time we're actually good again if all goes well and we'll need a replacement, and he's surely going to cost a massive fee.

Would go for Werner or Jovic if we get champions league and looking for some experience, however if we don't would look at targeting someone up and coming like this Gaich fella we were linked to on Thursday night. I know that Haaland has a reasonable release clause but there is not a chance in hell that Dortmund would let a talent like him leave the club after just six months.

Jimenez certainly gave us problems again today and would also be an option and I certainly don't buy into him being too old at 29 because seems to me that he really looks after himself and would definitely give us that presence in the opposition box that we greatly lack at the moment.

Yes I know that the scousers or City don't play with that kind of striker but they actually have midfielders and forwards who are constantly moving unlike our generally static trio.

I'd go for a young hot prospect who wouldn't cost a arm and a leg and spend the bulk of the money on a RW and a genuine world class midfielder or potentially world class. I honestly hope we stay away from EPL targets due to the exorbitant fees and instead focus on someone like Boadou from AZ, Werner from RBL, Osimhen from Lille and also keep a close eye on the young San Lorenzo player Adolfo Gaich who is technically, athletically and physically very gifted at 20 years old and could be a bargain signing for us. The only one I haven't seen too much of is the young Lille forward but have heard he's highly rated.

I personally hope we take a chance on Adolfo Gaich, nick named 'the tank' in his native Argentina due to his attributes being exactly what we lack imo.

I've only seen him once properly so no idea if he's good enough but a tall, mobile #9, 21 year old scoring goals in France would seem to tick a lot of boxes for us.

Sancho

Yes he is not striker, but with Sancho on the right and Rashford on the left, we will score more goals for sure.
Let Martial and Greenwood rotate on CF role.

Ighalo. As per Fabrizio Romano we will negotiate option to buy later as we didn't have time. He will play well in few games and we will rush to make the deal permanent.

We haven't a hope of getting Werner. Loka Jovic popped up a lot on here last year as the signing many thought we'd make, and we were probably his 7th choice.

Moussa Dembele looks most likely as he'll have just a year on his contract. Wolves will ask for 80 million for Raul Jiminez, so can't see that happening.

Odsonne Edourde is also a possibility.

Now that's what I'm talking about. Right winger and striker in one, blank chequebook and gazillion pound a week should do it

If you want a striker who would give you 2 or 3 good seasons I would definitley go for Jimenez.
For a long term prospect then its got to be Dembele.
I dont understand why people are getting worked up over Ighalo. The guys only here for a few months and its no real disaster if he ends up playing like Lingards grandad !
He,s an extra body and he might just weigh in with 3 or 4 goals.
As long as he doesnt bring the Coronavirus over with him not much can go wrong.
