With Raphael varane and lisandro Martinez the only Manchester united players remaining in this tournament with just few matches left, I was thinking of that manutd player that really shone through. I watched and supported some country's just because they have a united player in their squad

Bruno was outstanding for Portugal.

Varane looks good for France.

Martinez have put in some good tackles for Argentina.

Maguire was dominant for England, shaw and Rashford looked good.

But who has been Manchester united best player in your own opinion?

Martinez has made the best defensive block in a World Cup since Mascherano in 2014.

Maguire has made the perfect performance to be sold, it's now or never.

Bruno didn't step up when the team needed him honestly.

Casemiro was good too. I'd probably go for Bruno as United's best performer though. However, if Martinez or Varane were to win the tournament then you would imagine they would have a good shout.

Definitely Bruno as Martinez has not been playing in all games. Varane has been dreadful against Tunisia and should not be considered right now but it could change in the coming days.

  • Lisandro broke into the starting 11 deservedly.
  • Rashford should've been starting and was class whenever he got chances.
  • Varane his usual dominant self, and had to bail out France a decent amount of times
  • Casemiro was fantastic, ToTT worthy
  • Bruno was fantastic ToTT worthy
  • Dalot did really well and broke into the starting 11 deservedly
  • Maguire did well, but with some issues
  • Shaw did well, continued his form
  • Antony didn't play much, but did well vs Croatia IMO
  • Malacia didn't play at all
  • Fred barely featured, didn't do much while on
  • Eriksen was a flop

Bruno, Rashford, and Casemiro were probably the best of the lot, but most of the United players performed very well for their teams.

Hard to argue with any of this. There could actually be a case for Dalot as RB of the tournament too ? Only him and the chap playing for Morrocco spring to mind.

Hope, We Lose
Bruno, Casemiro, Dalot and Rashford

Maguire and Shaw recaptured some of the form from the previous tournament, I wouldnt say they enhanced their reps on it

Lisandro and Varane have time to still make more of an impact

Bruno so far but Varane still has an opportunity to better him. Not sure if Licha does (but that’s on the manager).

Dalot has also done exceptionally well for himself, eventually benching Cancelo (who didn’t look like his usual self for Portugal to be fair)

Shaw, Maguire, Rashford & Casemiro were all very solid.

Nah, Hakimi has that spot secured without any possible argument against him, he’s been insane. Dalot is a worthy runner up though (maybe alongside Walker? At least he caused Mbappé a ton of trouble).

It's been a good world cup for United players. Casemiro, Bruno, Dalot, Varane and Martinez do/did very well. Maguire, Shaw and Rashford did well enough.

I think by virtue of (potentially) winning the world cup the answer will be Martinez or Varane, although Bruno and Casemiro were better before crashing out of the tournament in my opinion.

They all did well in parts, which is normal with so much football being played. We had defenders starting for all the strongly fancied teams in France, Argentina, even England and Portugal. Casemiro did well as did Bruno, in their vital games though both could have played better in my opinion

Bruno, Casemiro, Rashford, Varane and Lisandro have all had great tournaments.

Shaw and Dalot looked bright as well

Dalot for sure.

I think the other names mentioned here are a good shout as well but they did benefit from their system as well. Maguire (who I do rate and think had a good world cup regardless) had Rice in front of him. Bruno had players around him who could carry his over aggressive nature as well.

Maybe I'm just playing favorites because I always thought Dalot was a boss but honestly this guy has potential to be a world class full back. He has the drive of peak Ronaldo and insane athletic ability

It's strange that Martinez is not an automatic starter. He brings that composure and calm to that Argentine backline

I think Bruno, Casemerio, Varane, Rashford and Martinez have all been good yet not great but I dont think any individual has really shined brightly in this WC.

All of them who featured did well. Casemiro, Bruno, Rashford probably the standouts - while Shaw, Martinez, Varane and Maguire also did themselves credit.

I think Bruno and Casemiro have been the best! Although Varane has looked very solid since coming back from injury!

A lot of players have played well which bodes well (you’d hope) for the restart of real football

Bruno regardless of his latest comments. Without him Portugal would have gone out early.

Bruno was Portugal best player. Someone else could have stepped up.

Ex-united Player Ronaldo - in a bad way.

No open play goals
Disciplined for leaving early again
attempting to take credit for someone else's goal
back to bench

Bruno was the best for me
Me too. Even though Licha and Rapha made the final and Maguire did okay (remember we only played Iran, USA, Wales and Senegal though before the game that mattered) from what I saw Bruno stood out.

I think it's fair to say all the United players who set foot on the pitch during the world cup did fairly well, no one had a stinker, some former United players didn't do so well which is why they're ex-United presumably!
