Wasn't all that impressed in Euros but then I spoke he wasn't first choice for them
Was injured and shouldn't have even went. He is a fine strong player and holds up the ball well, but maybe injuries have caught up with him. A loan deal might work for us.

Didn't realise was carrying an injury at the tournament which explains the situation

Belotti, Icardi. I thought this was 2022.

Genuine question

IF United sign Martinez and De Jong, presumably that will be most/all of the budget gone..

Do you seriously think United would stretch the budget enough to sign a World Class forward after that, in the event Ronaldo leaves?

I can't see it, they'd then have to consider a total spend of about £200m, which the Glazers don't allow. But to go into next season with just Martial, Rashford, Elanga and Sancho is suicide..

To be fair, going into the campaign with just Ronaldo was risky enough. But United have so many holes to fill and realistically you're not going to sort those holes out in one window, but we all knew that.

Practically everyone accepted a transitional season, so this Ronaldo news, though annoying as it is, isn't going to change United a great deal.

Thoughts on trying to get Broja if Chelsea come in for Ronaldo?

I don’t see us signing the correct long-term replacement this window so we will be back in the situation of looking for a suitable stop-gap.

If Lewandowski signs for Barca I wonder if there is any possibility to take one of their forward options on a one season loan. Someone like Aubameyang may be surplus to requirements.

If not we need to try and find someone who may not be world class but has qualities we lack with our current attacking options. More of a traditional number 9.

I’d actually be quite open to someone like Aleksander Mitrovic as a squad option although he has tied himself into a long-term deal at Fulham.

We have failed to find the right long-term signing to lead the line for over 10 years now. We should really address this next summer.

Do we want to be dealing with Barca again

Not really but it would be a very different situation if it was on the back of them signing Lewandowski and we were offering a loan deal to ease their wage burden on a player that was no longer first choice.

I think the De Jong deal is a lot more political as Barca are trying to save face with their supporters who don’t really want him to leave, especially at the price we will end up getting him for.

Don't think he's ready, or the most logical choice for the system. Best on the counter running at people, think he'd do better at a West Ham type of team from what I've seen than an Ajax style one.

If we now figure Eriksen and Bruno are both going to play a lot, we probably want someone good at getting on the end of things in the box as they both love to hit fairly low percentage crosses/through balls (though do it extremely well), but I'm not sure who fits that bill.

I could see an ‘exceptional circumstances’ situation where we go into the following seasons transfer budget if needed.

He would reject us in a heartbeat atm, also not really the goal getter we need.

This is genuinely the worst summer for him to leave. Sticking with martial seems like a better option than what's left, and sticking with martial is a mess waiting to happen.

Yeah, this is a big problem. We cannot be going in hoping Martial fires, it could turn messy.

I'd genuinely prefer Armando Broja.
Not for me, he may be decent but Werner is capable of so much more misses a hat trick every week, if Ten Hag could just convert those to goals we’d have a monster on our hands.

I would take Ivan Toney. Gives defenders a massive headache, runs his nuts off for the team, has a great understanding with Christian Eriksen. I still think we need one more attacking player though.

Andre Silva

Wouldn't cost a fortune I reckon £25m and he's ours.

Decent age, and good all round game.

Is he the flashy name you’d expect? No.

But is he good? Sure is, bloody great player. Been tracking him since League 1 and there’s nothing from his PL performances that makes me think he couldn’t do a job for us.

Has to be a swap deal with Timo Werner doesn’t it?
Werner would be the worst player to get. Better off with Martial. He's a good counter attacking player. Most goals at Leipzig were him using his speed, facing the goal and running onto through balls. Plus he played as a secong striker if I remember correctly not a lone target man. At Chelsea he doesnt work because he has his back to goal, doesnt have a good touch and the defenses are too deep. If Touchel cant get him to work then Ten Haag wont.

I’ll pick one per league based on these criteria:
* under 30
* not exorbitantly expensive
* have an actual chance of buying
* scored more than 10 goals in the league last season

Serie A:
Scamacca

La Liga:
Raul de Tomas

Bundesliga:
Jonathan Burkardt

Premier League:
Ivan Toney

Ligue 1:
Moussa Dembele

Before you go slaughtering me for selections, we’re a month out from the start of the season and have a budget. Need to be realistic.

I beg to differ I think he’d be a good signing, hasn’t pulled up trees but still keeps getting into goal scoring chances and eventually it will come good for him.

If we were really adventurous we could do a swap deal Werner and buy Toney it would cover all dimensions of the forwards line but is a big ask.

Surely out of that lot Scamacca is the obvious choice.

Agree, Ronaldo has played his last game here. This season was going to be a trial anyway, I’d rather we shore up the back, get Frankie in and then build the project. Not much choice.

He's going to PSG, according to reports. 50m euros or thereabouts.
A steal at that price; seems the type of player ETH would like to work with. Young, 6 5”, and ten Hag played with a traditional no.9 in Haller last two seasons.
