Who should be United's Captain in 2020/21?

It wouldn't be beyond a manager to use this situation with Maguire as an excuse to change Captain to Bruno Fernandes, who I feel is a more natural Manchester United captain, as he embodies the passion and drive we want from our team.

If the situation is as serious as new reports are saying (assault against an officer) it may be out of Solskjaer's hands anyway.

Who'd you choose? I'd give it to Bruno, but put my arm around Maguire's head and say "this doesn't change my opinion on you, this is just to take the pressure off of you blah blah"

Until we know more than a random news report with scarce details, Maguire.

It's hard to know as we're not inside the dressing room. Bruno does seem like a great leader, though.

Might be given to De Gea - wasn't he captain at one point?

First of all we don't know what's happening. He could be defending someone or something, in fact he was actually with Rashford & Williams. Maguire will still be United's captain at the moment, we've seen stuffs like this in the past with Giggs, Cantona & Robson and they still captained us. End of the day, it's about professionalism as a footballer not about who they are as person.

Eh? How is passion and drive measured then?

This piece of fanfiction ends with you bumping into Bruno on the street, you congratulating him with the captaincy and he invites you home to chill in his crib, you exchange numbers, strike up a close friendship and you're the first one he texts when he scores whe CL final winner in 2022 reading "I couldn't have done this without you @LawCharltonBest , the keys to my ferrari are in your mailbox, enjoy it buddy!" I assume?

Local reports have named Maguire as being involved in an incident, but no details have yet been confirmed.

Yea, he clearly needs to be hung, drawn and quartered asap.

We have a captain, and he's a good one. Why does that need to change? We've been captained by Cantona and Rooney haven't we? To damn good effect. No need for knee jerk reactions. Maguire has a larger body of work behind him than one indiscretion on holiday, if that's confirmed.

Maguire hasn't been really a good captain for me this season. He's uninspiring to say the least.

Not commenting on the whole incident but it was weird that he was given the captaincy right away in the first place. Does it really matter anymore?!

Didn't know the armband was such serious business...christ

Personally was never a fan of him being handed it in his first season with us in the first place so this incident doesn't have much bearing on my opinion. Didn't like the idea then and I still don't now, arrest or no arrest

Ole would love him (Maguire) even more after this.
Maguire causing a ruckus abroad just shows the true Britishness and pissed up ladish behaviour of the man.

Haven't all United captains been cnuts or fecked up once or twice? Maguire fits the profile perfectly.

Yup, he should follow the example and show more self awareness and solidarity with the local everyman by getting into drunken street brawls like our top lad 'Arry

In fairness he and Williams were probably tucked up in bed whilst 'Arry was off looking for a cop to headbutt. Man of the people

Well that's a whole different issue, and certainly wasnt the inspiration for the OP. I think he's been ok personally. I'm not one for attaching otherwordly attributes to the armband. A team needs many leaders anyway...

The Maguire episode is clearly a real treat for the posters who've been pushing the 'Bruno for captain' agenda since, what, his 2nd full game.

Feet up at home.
Didn't he do some stuff off the pitch this season that got applauded on here a couple of times at least? I can't remember what they were exactly but I know it happened and he was getting lauded for doing it.

Don't jump to conclusions and don't forget Fergie actually bailed Keane out of jail one morning after a night out.

Shouldn't be Maguire with or without this incident. Bruno for me since he acts like a leader on the pitch and has quality too.
