Ronaldo. Topscorer and probably most decisive player for the team over the course of the season alongside De Gea. He has the most POTM awards too which backs that up.

But since his name is Ronaldo, he’s held to a different standard from anyone else so will probably get overlooked.

Top 3 would be him, De Gea & Fred.
He's the most highly paid player at the club, of course he's held to a different standard. That's typically how payscales work.

Ideally, none of them get it. If pushed, it should be De Gea.

I guess it was worded wrong. I more meant that he’s been better than many are willing to give credit for.

Ofcourse, generally the squad has been poor but he’s been arguably the best of a bad bunch.

“Rubbish”
You're not wrong, Ronaldo is the obvious player of the year if it's being looked at objectively. And that's despite being well below his usual standards and ridiculously being made to play a role he's never consistently played at club level. This issue is that people don't look at it objectively, they judge him by a completely different standard; he's got twice as many goals as Bruno in 2nd and three times as many as Greenwood in 3rd (yes, he's still our third top scorer ffs). And before the "he's only a goalscorer" shouts, there are only 4 players with more assists than him too.

De Gea or Fred.. would rather Fred. Only player who has really turned up since Ralf came in.

who do you feckin think ?
I'd go with Fred, he is probably the only player who has progressed this season and added goals to his game.

Okay maybe I'm being too harsh. I'll rephrase from 'rubbish' to 'average'.

A good start/first half of the season, but since the new year, he's only scored in 2 premier league games. And when he hasn't scored, his performances aren't anywhere near a level we expect of him. He goes missing in these games where we need a leader and someone to drag us through the mud. Instead, throwing his hands in the air, falling over and complaining.

In my opinion, David De Gea has earnt the POTY award over Ronaldo.

Cancel the awards, pull out some fable excuse and stop giving these passengers too much attention.

I would rather have players who “throw their hands up and complain” than the likes of Rashford and Martial who shrug, stare at their shoes and think about their next trip to Dubai.

I could also argue he isn’t scoring in 2022 because we aren’t creating chances. I don’t even see Benzema on his current form scoring many more in this current United team.

De Gea will win his usual, I was kind of okay in the grand scheme of things but my presence generally does cause this level of panic which makes me look better than I am award he has swept so many years since our mediocrity began.

Him or Ronaldo, for his half-respectable goal stats on paper.

Fred probably get the players player of the year.

De Gea then probably Ronaldo for me.

Lets not forget Ronaldo started great for us, including single handedly dragging us through the CL group stage. His form has gone off the boil, but so has the rest of the team and lets remember even the best strikers in the world still need some half decent players around them to give them some service.

I hope they have enough decency to cancel any award of such sort
Why??

The women's team have done very well this season, why should they have to suffer, by not having any awards, same for the youth sides of both genders??

There is far more to this club, then just the men's first team.

For the record, my Player of the Season, would go to Ella Toone, but Ona Batlle is running her very close.

At this point I’d like to see Fred win it but he could be terrible between now and the end of the season. Realistically it’s DeGea or Ronaldo. Wouldn’t be surprised if Bruno got the fans vote.

Ronaldo gave us our best moments in a season better forgotten. De Gea most consistent.

We've had seasons where everyone was terrible and De Gea was brilliant and even though it was sad a keeper was player of the season it was fully deserved.

This season I legit think De Gea should win by default. He's not even been anything special, he's just not been a disgrace.

Fred has improved a lot under Ragnick and he always tries so maybe it could be him but after that there is feck all.

Since we cannot realistically cancel, I vote for the proxy option which is De Gea.

People have mentioned Fred but he's never been and never will be United quality. He's just been the least bad of an awful outfield bunch.

It's between De Gea, Fred and Tuesday night Ronaldo but none of them really deserve it. Even during our worst post-Fergie years we had a standout performer (usually De Gea), but this season we should just all collectively agree to forget that this award even exists to avoid further embarrassment.

Garner was doing alright?

If not DDG, I'd give it to one of Fred or Mctominay as they've been the least shit of the outfield players.

It would have been Mctominay by distance, but his form has dropped off badly over the last month or so.
Mctominay has had a dreadful season other than a brief spell of a few reasonably good games after RR took over he’s been woeful.

Fred and De Gea are only two players in the equation and that is with a pretty low bar, I’d like to see Fred get it just because De Gea has won it so many times before.

I'd give it to Fred. He's actually been pretty consistently very good, especially considering his vital role in a shit show of a team, and his head never dropped.

De Gea #2 as he's been good not great this year. Nobody else in the squad is in the picture.

He was probably our only decent outfield when Ole was in charge. His performances have gradually lessened since Ralf took over, but I wonder if that's burnout/lack of desire given the problems surrounding the club more than anything.

Fred is the opposite. He was atrocious before Ralf took charge, but has picked up his game in recent weeks and is best player at present.

I'd probably give it to Fred as he looks like he has improved under Ralf. Mct considerably less so.

Mctominay has been fecking awful.

Not a chance he should be player of the year.
He's been awful recently, but overall he's had a good season in my opinion.

Fred all the way so much so that he’s the only starter that should really be keeping his place next season in a pressing side. What will happen is the same poster will say oh we are in 8th because Fred has been our best player. Total bullshit. If the rest played like him we’d be challenging for trophies and not one of the slowest and work shy groups in the league. I wish we’d kept Dan James. He’d have been a lot better than Rashford this season just like he was for the second half of last season but Ole didn’t have the balls to drop Rashford.
DDG yet again.

Ronaldo for the CL. Been a disaster in the league.

I can’t believe I’m going to say this but probably Fred. He does my head in, but he’s probably the best of a terrible bunch in terms of effort.

Ole and his mates had built a side which is brimming with United DNA. These team with its core of British/homegrown talent knowledge exactly what playing for United is all about so it will be hard to decide

Seriously it must be DDG
