Your argument that Twitter is composed of users who don't count as people.I do, you’re making out there’s a meltdown on redcafe because people on twitter wanted him to lose.
What is that if not a strawman?
My argument is that twitter isn’t reflective of redcafe, at all.Your argument that Twitter is composed of users who don't count as people.
Yeah but at this stage of the season when we were winning titles scraping past West brom 1 nil wasn't our best home result and performanceits just a default reaction these days. People choose to overlook how often other teams grind out these wins through a season, or how often we did it under Ferguson. We used to say that these were the types of results that win titles.
Strawman. My argument is that twitter isn’t reflective of redcafe, at all.
How many redcafers believe the US election was rigged? Or the Earth is flat, or that vaccines are baaaaad?
People with short memories forget that most seasons with Fergie involved lots of great football and an extremely high win rate and goals scored column.Because people have short memories and think that we used to win every game under Fergie 4-0 with exciting football and 80% possesion
incredible, isn’t it!I do, you’re making out there’s a meltdown on redcafe because people on twitter wanted him to lose.

Yes, your strawman.Strawman.

Yip.Because this place is toxic as feck. Moderators seriously need to look into doing something about the pathological moaners in here.
Me too.I’ve stopped coming to the caf recently and I feel a lot better for it.
Fans on here do themselves no favours. Its a very unhealthy place to be where only a very comfortable victory is enough to prevent a cacophony of complaints.Yeah but at this stage of the season when we were winning titles scraping past West brom 1 nil wasn't our best home result and performance
Spot on mate. The journey is the fun part. There is no football being played after a trophy is won. I think even if we won a trophy the negative views would still be there as it wouldn't be good enough to win it just once, or because we didn't win against the toughest teams on the way, or because losing would be better longterm because the manager is trash. Things like that. It's just not enjoyable for these people to watch football as they can't even use it as an escape, it's more like a trap for perpetuating a state of crisis.Fans on here do themselves no favours. There is a very large emotional area in-between euphoric joy and utter fury, but those seem to be the only available states of mind for 80% of posters on here.
Its really quite ridiculous to have this type of reaction after a win. There is fighting going on between our own fans in every single thread. Its becoming an asylum.
Its amazing to hear so many entitled fans here who keep talking or moaning about 'United's standards.' (I have been a United supporter for nearly 45 years.)Spot on mate. The journey is the fun part. It's always funny to hear negative fans saying "I wont be lowering my standards". Being in a state of utter fury for the foreseeable future is really something that will help the club, and probably bring a person forward in life as well. Great standard to set.
Because we knew we had a good chance of doing so therefore it was much easier to accept.its just a default reaction these days. Yeah, this confuses me as well. I mean, we as fans dont really set any standards since we have almost zero impact on how the club is being run or what happens on the pitch. We're just along for the ride really. Being unhappy with playing like shit or thinking the manager is not good enough? Sure, but this is not like picking a restaurant to eat on.Its amazing to hear so many entitled fans here who keep talking or moaning about 'United's standards.' What it does indicate is that they started supporting United when United was in its prime years ie the Fergie Years.
They have no clue or history when United at best for several decades, were a cup side. The years of chopping & changing managers -- Tommy Doc to Dave Feckin' Sexton to Rompin' Ron. We were always a cup side -- buy the most expensive players/breaking transfer records nearly every year and yet, cup sides. Ole is trying to build a platform for the future.
There will be inherent growing pains -- its like building a startup company or life in general. Its never a straight line.
So whenever they talk about lowering my standards, it really reflects on when they started supporting United. Those who have seen through the ups & downs of United's journey over the years know not to use such pejorative phrasing.
I think there is a lot of projection going on with some of the folks.Yeah, this confuses me as well. I think a lot of people view this as some kind of transaction. They give support and expect good football and results in return. I get it, Sky are greedy bastards and we all pay a premium to watch United on the telly, but that does not really mean we also can demand swasbuckling football and great results. One argument that often gets brought up is how we are apparently too big to fail. Do you think Liverpool fans at the end of the 80's could have imagined they would go three decades without another title?
Growing up as a foreign United fan i always had rival supporters tell me we were all a bunch of glory hunters and it pissed me off. Turns out though, they were somewhat right because we do unfortunately have a couple of those
Look around, nearly everybody in Europe are playing like this.So you think? I don't, this was a terrible performance
Na, its true. It was a topic on here since the Everton game.strawman.
I add another two:We lose, people moan.
We draw, people moan.
We win, some will still moan.
Well Mr bagginses. I think it's a reflection of the mess the club is in. But it's pretty much the Internet as a whole is now. It was much better when it was just nerds using napster and sharing pokemon game boy emulators and roms. Or spending 10 minutes downloading a poorly shotoshopped image of Sarah Michelle gellars head on a porn stars body.Fans on here do themselves no favours. The point is, it wasnt that bad. I think everybody should expect to see a bit of a collective vent after a defeat. If it helps the emotional basket cases to feel better then have at it.Well Mr bagginses. I think it's a reflection of the mess the club is in. But it's pretty much the Internet as a whole is now. But I think to suggest we used to call yesterday's performance the sort you win the title off is incredibly disingenuous. I mean it is, if you're top on a good run and you squeak past a shit team with a dodgy win. But yeah, that's not us at all. First league win at home all season. Completely papers over the cracks and people are right to say that.
I haven't been into a topic other than this one since the match so I can only imagine the reaction has been severe in both directions, but if we're all honest we are currently less than the sum of our parts and it is baffling.
I'm in a few what's app groups with other united fans (because I'm so bloody popular in real life) and one of the guys in one of them said Rashford is like Henry one week and Ralph milne the next. Sort of how our whole team is really.
