Enlighten me. Why?

It seems like they are coming back with these template of tweets, saying we have no progress.
These are expected, we are never going to win the title this season, and among all the other teams we are clearly the 2nd best team in the league right now.

That is progress.

Because most "fans" out there grew up on a diet of dominance under Sir Alex, and can't understand that things have changed and the competition is stiffer with Man City boasting a truly world class squad. These "fans" think that managing a football club is like FM and are incredibly impatient, without taking into account the actual good work and progress Ole has made in the past few years.

To be honest I still feel like we are in a team in transition, but still doing really well all things considered. Even in last night's game, I felt we battered WBA and they were lucky to get away with a point. It's a lot better than how we looked under Mourinho for sure and Ole deserves more time to shape this team. Most of these so-called "fans" are trolls or just can't see things realistically.

Standards seemed to have really plummeted now we have a club legend in charge

How are we clearly the second best team exactly?

Liverpool have shown at full strength they can go head to head with this City team and we are on joint points with a Leicester team who have accumulated more points than us over the past 5 games, so us remaining in second even this season is hardly a guarantee.

Fact is because some fans saw Klopp changing Liverpool in 2 years they want every manager to do that at United.

They begged for Mourinho and pretended like it didnt happen and we are still near that 2nd year progress after utilising a much more balanced but young team.

The fans that cried out for Mourinho then talk about the RB Leipzig manager acting like he did anything worth to cry about in 2 years like Klopp did.

Klopp is an anomaly and not every manager will be him.

Ole maybe a manager who isnt well coaching and only relies on top class individual abilities - however I'd be happy to see that continue and for us to buy more players with individual abilities (like how we targeted Haaland and Sancho, maybe even Grealish in the last 2 years) - then sack Ole if he isnt bringing such players to their best ability.

There is people crying about why we havent used Bailly when he was just injured in the last couple of weeks. We have significant gaps in the first team that should have been improved upon. Another transfer window goes where nothing happens and surprise - some fans crave a new manager whilst some fans crave for a CDM, RW a RCB and a ST.

Is that equivalent to a season in your eyes?

We are currently 2nd in the Table and that's the best stat that can show we have been the 2nd best team in the league. Leicester will overtake us if we continue our blip but until then we have been the 2nd best team in the league.

There was 5 games when we were the best team in the league during the season, so the last 5 games Leicester being better than us is just picking stats by alternative strategies.

Because he’s not a very good manger? He owes his job over the past year to Bruno according to most fans. If I’m honest, I’m shocked it wasn’t trending sooner.

Your logic applies the other way too, we can't claim we are the second best team in the league because we didn't finish there last season and this season isn't finished yet.

Also the key word here being: 'clearly'. We weren't clearly the best team in the league when we were sat in first as people could see the writing on the wall. We also aren't clearly the second best team in the league, both from a footballing or standing perspective, currently given the circumstances. We are joint second with a Leicester team who are in better form than us.

Can that change throughout the season? Of course, but given our performances, it could just as likely go either way, which is why no, I don't believe we are clearly the second best team in the league

The fact that we're so close to Leicester despite us having no real injury problems the whole season and having a supposed superior squad says a lot.

It's been over 2 years and Ole still hasn't shown any ability to change up the squad when we start to go into a slump.

But sure, it's not Ole's problem, clearly he needs more backing and time to finally drop underperforming players.

Unpopular opinion: you give Rodgers this team and we still don't overtake City, but we'd damn well be closer, or at least playing football which you could place some hope in

Yeah Rodgers doesn't allow us to slack off against Everton and not just take beating Sheff Utd for granted either, in regards to the Liverpool & Arsenal games then they could easily go either way.

It's why I've been maintaining my stance that if Ole wasn't a former fan favourite as a player, he'll have been binned a long time ago and idiots wouldn't even be saying he needs more time and chance.

But it's ok, apparently shit football and hoping either Rashford/Pogba/Bruno bailing us out is progress.

Yep, I made this same mistake with Mourinho and our previous managers. I'm done giving managers that aren't up to it a free pass. I'm surprised others are still falling for the same mistake.

You'll be crucified on here by some for even trying to suggest he's not cut for it though.

At the end of the day, shit football meant our previous incorrect appointments lost their job and itll also be the same reason Ole loses his too imo. You can't get 5 years to get a team playing football these days, managers don't even stick around in teams that long anymore. There is too much emphasis on progressive and dominant football, it's why all the pragmatic managers are struggling or at lower tier clubs now

Yes we've hit a recent run of not great form.
That's why. People are reactionary.
Christ, do you remember when we lost under Ferguson despite being five points clear? Haha

I like Ole, no he's not been perfect, he has made decisions that seem a bit odd but then did Sir Alex.

I'm not saying Ole will become Fergie level at all, just that I feel the progress we've made along with the extremely promising youth team, he deserves some slack.

Ole if he got Sancho, Haaland and Grealish would have more individual ability within the squad.

It didnt happen but our fans still cry out for these players whilst also losing their mind about Amad.

Yet we dont win a title in the 2nd season so let's stop this target of players that actually make sense for once in 10 years.

I'm more concerned about the squad and how that needs to be rebuilt after ten years.

We may have a DOF as manager but we have a good DOF that I dont want to let go yet because I'm not a fan who supported United for quick successes. I'm able to be patient.

The fact that he appears to continually picks his favourites in Martial and Lindelof when obviously there are out of form and impacting on results and structure is an anomaly and difficult to understand.

if that continues, then questions and more need to answered, Ole has to demonstrate that being close enough is not good enough.

Dream on he isn't signing all three and quite honestly he would be lucky to get one with our board

Being patient and what not is respectable, but people such as myself who want him out would ask you, what do you genuinely see that is worth being patient for?

Some people are old school and believe in that backing your manager thing, however people like us who voice discontent are generally told to stop being knee-jerk and plastic or go and support another team is the other line

Yeah that bit is just nonsense. Chelsea, Pool and especially Leicester all can claim to be better teams than us atm, based on current form or last season.

I do somewhat understand where the OP is coming from because Twitter is full of reactionary idiots. At the same time though, I’m neither Ole in or Ole out at this moment. For me, give him until the end of the season, and if we get 2nd and win a trophy, then he stays and gets the last year to win a new contract by winning the league. Otherwise, if we scramble into 4th with 60+ points again like last season or even fail to make top 4 with all of Leicester, Chelsea and West Ham looking good (Pool are also a good team in shocking form), and fail a win a trophy, then sack him right away. The latter possibility would just show that we’re going nowhere even though he has already built his team.

Either way, him being a club legend should have no bearing whatsoever on his job security.

Ok, which manager would do worse if they've access to better players?

How about doing some actual coaching so we stop being so reliant on individuals and we turn to shit the moment certain players are out of form?

Apparently that's not part of his job description for a lot of people.

Fair. I have a lot of time for what Ole has done in trimming the squad down and the incremental progress in the team's results. I do think what we have seen so far is what we will get, in terms of how we play, and I am sure Ole can solidify us as a top four team by continuing with an approach that is based on individual contributions and supplementing the squad with better players, but that will be the ceiling. I think when people go too far the other way and start giving us credit for being "clearly the second best team" it needs to be challenged because I haven't felt we looked wholly convincing in our play even when we were on a winning run.

Going from 6th to 3ed to second now. Evolution, best attack in the league and an over all heathy atmosphere at the club. We are 2 or 3 very good players away from being the best imo. Look what is happening to pool after having one or 2 key players out; that is a similar place where we are.

He should be given an opportunity to build a squad in his image, just with less of the cringy and Rodgers-esque interviews.

Best attack in the league just like we had the best defense in the league last year apparently. They will cherry pick stats till the end of time to defend Ole. If we're lucky he'll get sacked at the end of the season. If not be prepared for a few more years of this.

And I did no such thing with Mourinho- a manager that I didnt agree with from the off whilst majority was craving him like @Womp said he did.

So you got it wrong, I'm not backing a manager for the sake of it - yet I have seen him rebuild the squad to a great level that i have not seen with 4 managers before him (including the last few years of SAF).

This is the first time we have managed to ditch out Sanchez, Rojo,Lingard, Pereira, chong, Chris Smalling, TFM, Lukaku, Ashley Young, and the future obvious transfers of Juan Mata, Phil Jones, Sergio Romero.

Like fine, if you cant see it then dont see it. The guy is rebuilding this United Squad and I personally dont care if we aren't winning a title in the 2nd year which such an imbalanced squad from managers that 'the winners mentality fans' bought in to this club in the first place.

Ole is going to ditch out one of Bailly and Lindelof for the first proper RCB we had in a decade. We are going to get our first RW since Ronaldo because Ole knows it needs to be done as seen by us targeting Sancho just at the start if the season. People loving Amad in 3 games. Then the need for a predatory striker - a younger more deadly version of Cavani; hence why we targeted Haaland and still Ole says he is keeping and eye on him. Let the Mourinho ageing style CDM of Matic be sold or retire before we get a new on.

We are literally 4 gaps in the first team away from having a balanced squad in nearly 15 years (because I didnt rate SAF's final years of his team).

Yet people want to bring Brendan Rodgers and Nagelsmann in to spoil it all and to sort out their thirst for a quick title (funnily enough by most of the shift in quality that Ole has done in less than 2 seasons). I've got not problem with Rodgers and Nagelsmann coming here in the future - but to think they would come here and sort out our squad and the club as a whole is plain delusional.

Rodgers bought Borini, Joe Allen, iago waspas, Simon Mignolet, Kolo toure, Mamadou Sakho  the list literally goes on at the crap he bought for Liverpool.

And again, I'm open to the fact that managers can change and get better - but why oh why would you want to chuck out a manager that is rebuilding the squad right in front of your eyes.

You are literally complaining about - Lindelof is crap, we need a new RW, martial needs to be sold and get a better more deadly striker, we need to sign Grealish, bringing back henderson because De Gea needs to improve - thread upon thread about everything the fans want - yet they pretend like Ole hasnt seen this and hasnt aimed for this even before the fans did.

What's the use - no one will change their mind. Some fans are just reactive to situation Like David De Gea, using their reflexes to come out with their thoughts when the going gets tough and we lose against crap teams that have focused down on our weak spots ( covering the not off the line GK, heading down the RCB, sitting back because neither out RW can create nor do we have a good enough striker to take chances, us hardly being able to play Pogba and Bruno together because our CDM is 40 meaning we lack creativity).

Reflex all you want but ultimately you think Rodgers will do better with this squad than Ole will then so be it. Just to let you know that Ndidi, Maddison, Vardy, Pereira, Schmeichel and Barnes were at Leicester before rodgers. Leicester have a good ability of building a squad as seen with the Kante and Mahrez era. So do RB Leipzig which is well known. United dont have any of this with Woodward. Let's just hope the fans dont cry out for the 2nd coming of Mourinho because the majority shouting about their needs doesnt mean its necessarily right as proven by the Jose era itself.

I think the guy is just trying to hold out until the end of the season, which he will be able to do unscathed should we make top 4, to make a decision. In an ideal scenario for Woodward, we come 2nd and he does absolutely nothing in the window, probably with the exception of Sancho while crying Covid to the fans and press. Otherwise, I think he’ll sack him then and promise Sancho as there will be less backlash from fans after he missed out on Sancho the previous summer.

So you guys implying we should sack Ole after we have the best away run since I can't remember, in the middle of February?

How is that not a kneejerk reaction?

 So what if its trending, who the feck cares, imagine making a thread about it, seriously whats wrong with you insecure bunch.

Any mention of Ole even in slight negative manner, you just cant take it. No wonder people cant even bump threads of other managers in here without people flipping off and spining their praise as some attack on Ole. Luckely you made sure everyone else to know how Ole spanked them hipster managers, just in case of Leipzig one, jumped a gun a bit.

Do away matches count double? His overall results are average and will continue to be that way.
