Will Bruno achieve legend status at utd?

Give him a knighthood! He's already passed legendary status.
If we are crowned winners of the Europa league 2025 and he gets a hattrick in the final. We go on to win the CL 2026 with him as captain (not going to happen btw) then I'm not even sure that would be enough to convince the doubters. There are clearly people who for some reason, just have an agenda with Bruno!

3 PL’s, 1 CL, 1 Club World Cup, 1 FA Cup, 2 League Cup’s as well as the first player in English football to win World Player Of The Year and one of only 6 players in English football to win Balon D’Or but because he achieved more at Real he’s not a United legend ? He was literally the driving force behind arguably our most successful ever period.
He also got his legend of a team mate sent off. True legend!

Is this saying all 30+ were Europa league games? That can't be true. He has 37 ga across all comps.

** ignore me, it's talking about his entire Europa league knockout history.

Clear signs he's a champions league player doesn't belong to this comp.

I've had my issues with him at certain points, but it's become undeniable how much he drags this team forwards during our worst points. Despite being too young for Robson the parallels are definitely there.

Giggs had an affair with his brothers wife and went to court for domestic abuse, Best beat up his wife and was also arrested assault on another woman and indecent assault of a 13 year old, Cantona attacked a fan, Keane was arrested for assaulting a woman in the late 90’s then arrested for assault and criminal damage not long before he left United and Rooney slept with prostitutes and was arrested drink driving and taking sleeping pills yet are all still United legends because that’s based on what they did in a United shirt.

98 goals. Getting to 100 this season and winning the Europa League would settle the argument, if there even is one at this point. He’s dragging the worst United team for sometime to champions league football and a trophy. I’m too young to have seen Bryan Robson but there seem to be some parallels.
Definite similarities as we were a cup team back then who had the occasional good league finish but were behind Liverpool and Everton back then but Robson kept us competitive to the point where on any given day we could be absolutely anybody.

Robson along with Maradona and Van Basten were my favourite players of the 80’s and being England captain back then made you a real superstar, even though he was past his prime and injuries had broken him when he left it broke my heart the day Robson left United.

Just hope with Bruno that he continues his insane fitness record as he could be similar to Modric in longevity if he does, he’s already gradually settling into a midfield orchestrator role and he isn’t someone who relies on pace so hopefully we’ll get years to come and they’ll be no debate.

Moaniest of all time. Yes. And a complete legend (pretty meaningless word anyway). He’s giving all for this club. Loves the badge. Beautiful footballer. For me as time passes he becomes more rare, more special. Up there with any of the greats for me. I hope he’s here to see us win big and fulfill the Amorim dream.

There was a period where it seemed that all he did was lose the ball and moan; him and Rashford were dragging us down then.
But he's almost always delivered and besides his first year + half for the club, this is Bruno at his best.

Yes but I'm basing my opinion on what he did in a portugal shirt which has to do with football and to a fellow teammate at utd. So the fact he wore his national teams shirt means it's ok for you?
What the feck has that to do with who they sleep with?

Haha, that suits him well
Agree with the rest!

Stranger things have happened.

Funnily enough if that happened it could all be traced back to the toenail of a Coventry player being offside, since we wouldn’t have even been in Europa this season without it.

Win Europa and for me he is, so glad he’s getting his flowers (we all know one bad performance and the knives will be out).

I've been critical of him but he's won me over completly. Our best player without a question the past decade. Still not quite legend status but he's closing in.

He is the only good thing about the club since he joined in 2020 so definitely a legend in my eyes. A breath of fresh air. He was annoying at times with the arm waving but he's put a stop to that after the Keane criticism. He's a legend in my eyes.

I think we're at that point where we can see clearly that he's a legend. Possibly even one of the greatest, given the absolute dross he has had to work with, and the commitment to the club he's shown.

You’re judging what he did in a United shirt based on what he did in a national shirt so basing your opinion on his character, so if you're basing his standing United on his character then you have to do the same with the others.

Yes Ronaldo successfully attempted to get an opposition player sent off which is something I hate in general and is a snakey thing to do but is it worse then beating women up or affairs with your brothers wife or attacking a fan ? I judge Ronaldo at United on exactly that, Ronaldo at United alone just like I do with every other United legend and NOT on anything non United related.

I suspect "legend" status is difficult to dish out to players at clubs that seriously underachieve. So, unless Utd turn things around quickly, I suspect not.

However, had Bruno played in other eras at Utd, he probably would have become a legend. He gets so much criticism because, lets face it, if Utd do badly people love to criticise in the media / social media. And, the captain and star player will receive the brunt of it. Sure, he is no Roy Keane in terms of that type of leader. But he is a leader in that he will never once hide in a game. He will do everything in his power to get on the ball, take responsibility and make things happen. Frustrating at times when he gives the ball away, but then again, how much of that is his fault, and how much is due to the fact his team mates are often inexperienced / lacking quality and not getting into good positions? I can imagine if Bruno played with Keane, Beckham, Giggs, Rooney, etc then they'd make his job so much easier?

Got to feel a little bit sorry for Bruno in this respect, he is a diamond in a cowpat..
I can only imagine just how good he's goals & assists column would be in a very good United team of years gone by, with let's say Rooney, Ronaldo or Van Nistelrooy being supplied.

Yep, then you have the good old Gary Neville, Roy Keane who are consistently criticising him.

He has to create goals and score goals in our team, do people realise how hard that is? Whilst playing almost every single minute?

Hard to imagine a team out there where he doesn´t have a chance of being a starter.

Absolute machine. If he doesn´t deserve the legend status i give up. He can only do so much at a team starving of quality players.

Yeah, quality player. Absolutely mad that lots of people wanted him sold when pretty anything good that happens in our games is down to him.

I'm sure he's paid well, but I'm fairly sure he could have easily gone and got decent money playing for a much better team so extra credit to him for sticking around.

One of the only enjoyable things about watching us in recent years. I hope we become a decent side in the next couple of years, he deserves to play in a good side with better or more developed players where he isn't the only one that can be relied upon for inspiration.

Its funny because almost every Arsenal fan I have spoken to and asked.. would you swap Bruno and Odegard.. the answer was the same... Not a chance.

Now... I reckon Arsenal win the league with Bruno in their team instead of Odegard.

RVN would take the pens mind!

But, yes with some players who can actually finish he would be even more impressive.

I think both players are better suited to the team they play for. I don’t think Bruno would be as effective at Arsenal, and the way they play.

Bruno is a risk/ reward player - that’s not what Arsenal want, as ridiculous as that sounds.

Different players for me. Oodegaard has been really poor this season but in the couple of seasons prior I thought he was one of the tidiest footballers around, absolutely amazing at playing silky touches and little passes in busy areas in or around the box. That suited how arsenal were playing at the time.

Bruno isn't as good at that, but he does excel at cross or chipped balls into the box that are right on the money and finding the wide forwards at the right time when they are bursting into space. He'd make a huge improvement given how Arsenal have played this year, think Saka and Martinelli would thrive on that kind of service.

Whilst you say that... every team needs that.. look at KDB at City, he is high risk / high reward player and drove City to numerous wins.

Its more the mentality too, when the team is struggling, Bruno drags the team in a way no one in the Arsenal team can.

They lack creativity in open play where Bruno would provide alot of options to them.

You will note that no opposition fan in England rate Bruno.

I see your points. I think Saka is that player for Arsenal - when he’s not playing they are toothless.

All my non-United friends acknowledge how good Bruno is, so I don’t think the last bit is true. I would say, even more so this season, opposition fans can see how important he is.

What oppo fans focus on is the attitude/ his petulance - because that’s his perceived weakness, and they tend to say he’s not good enough because of that. However, he’s cleaned up his act a great deal - a lot has to do with the crack down from referees, it’s good to see.

This is why I feel slightly sorry for Bruno... we need to see him in a top team.

I really hope we have the chance to see him for a season or 2 with a really top team, he can be the difference for us I believe.

Whilst I agree, Saka is that type of player, Bruno has that aura about him on the pitch.. like we can be under the cosh and 1 pass and he can change the team.

Whereas Saka, its more a dribble or getting on the end of a pass. The partnership of Saka and Bruno would be quite formidable I reckon.

Ødegaard is a top player, but for all that he’s never reached the heights Bruno has for us, nor his consistency. Seen over a full season I don’t think Ødegaards ever had a season as good as any of Bruno’s with us (apart from maybe 21/22 which was good-but-not-great). I agree with you, swapping Bruno and Ødegaard this season would have put them in range.

Arsenal are good in the box and better than us at not allowing opposition breathing space when they lose the ball high up the pitch. Both those qualities in their team would suit Bruno extremely well. He’d be a menace for them, the same way he is for us.

Ödegaard is quality and their best and most important player. Alongside Rice i guess. I fully understand them. But add Bruno to that team instead of a Merino playing a false 9 or something, or Trossard, or Havertz or whatever and they will improve

I think as of now he will be considered a legend once he retires. If he wins us the EL then he should quite rightly be considered a legend the moment he lifts the trophy.

We all want our players to be winning the biggest trophies year in year out and clearly the likes of Keane, Scholes and Giggs are at the top of the list for United legends.

However I’ve always had a soft spot for those legends who dragged their teams to glory during difficult times. I just think there’s something extra there within their character. Your Robson types who although I didn’t see play, can admire the fact he could’ve fecked off in search of more glory but stayed to win things for the club and fans.

I think/hope Bruno is remembered alongside those types. He seems to be maturing a lot this last year and really does do a shit tonne of positive off the pitch too.

Since Ferguson retired , can’t think of a high paid player to of been actually consistently worth every penny, transfer fee and salary, at United.

The last 5 seasons Without Bruno, we would have zero CL qualifications, zero league cup , zero fa cup and zero chance in Europa.

For all the complaints of his whining, I’d of taken the whiniest quality players in the world over some of the over paid wasters who thought working consistently hard for the team was beneath them. A lot of players whine for themselves, always felt, while annoying, a lot of Bruno’s is driven by a will to win. I remember the reports of him savaging his own sporting squad (ala Keane) before he joined.

Agreed. He is the only one we can say.. you deserve the money.

He gets so much hate for no reason, he doesn't come across cocky at all, he is always the one to speak to the media when we lose or get battered.. he is the only who gets alot of criticism for his playstyle, yet he does not moan and carries on with his work.

Since he came in, its telling when every single manager, from caretaker to permanent has him as first name... even when fans said... he cant play under x,y,z manager, he will be dropped. Nope, he is there front line for every manager and will give his all regardless if he is playing RWB, CM, CAM, CF, LW.

Off the field? He is a role model, to the academy players, he helps our squad players out, he is a family man, still so many people dislike him.
