Will Bruno achieve legend status at utd?

Had Rooney played with us during shit times, people like you would probably have said the same.

Legends should be measured on what they give (within what’s possible) + their behavior.

Post reply

Solskjær is another good example. Almost every big player would have gone by now.
Honestly yeah. If Rooney captained us to one our most embarrassing results in club history, and dropped a massive stinker in one of the most important games in his life, with really no other major honors to show for it, I would hesitate to call him a club legend.

I think if anyone has any doubts about him this should put an end to it. He’s at Utd, he’s been our best player and he’s shown his love for the game and loyalty to the club. Get behind him.

Those doubting him and wanting him
Sold based on age and needing to rebuild.

This is my opinion on this.

We should rebuild around our best player even if it takes two summers.

Bruno, Embeumo, Cunha is creativity and goals.

We need instant improvement so who cares if he is 30 he’s still got 3 great years at least (look at Modric).

If Fernandes helps get us back into the champions league we’ll have more to spend and can replace him when the times right.

Yes we need a GK and Striker and some are demanding another mid. As previously stated that’s hard in one window but if we sell Rashford, Anthony, Gernacho and Sancho we should have enough funds anyway.

Let’s build around a captain who the rest of the dressing room can’t doubt.

Each to their own, but I don't think it's fair to let a couple of embarrassing results for the club stain one player's legendary status. Just look at some of the names who featured in the 6-1 loss to City.
Many of the players who played in that 1-6 also played major part in some of our most recent successful seasons so they have a lot of credit left in the bank.

Bruno refused to show up and massively let us down when it mattered the most, and to me it's hard to forgive that unless like I said, he wins a major honor with us.

I appreciate his passion for the club and longevity, but that alone isn't enough.

So you're basically saying that 1 man should have the powers to perform for 11 men to be worthy of your applauses.

That is exactly what he is saying and he is not alone in this.

I have had numerous comments today asking me "Where was Bruno in the EL final" ?

They expect Bruno to be able to be a DM, CM, CAM, ST and CB and also have 90% ball retention.

He’s the only player getting close post Sir Alex era. I think his refusal to make an easy move to Saudi and instead stay at the club was a decision that only brings him closer to legendary status.

Never underestimate the trait of loyalty, especially when things are as bleak as the current state of Manchester United. If he can help guide this squad to a few more trophies then he deserves all the recognition that should come with it.

Just saw the "Bruno Fernandes appreciation thread" pop up but I'm not going to spoil it for those supporting his decision to stay.

Credit to his dedication to the club, but I can't really in good conscience put someone who captained our club in some of our most embarrassing moments we've had here (7-0, losing European final to Spurs) to be a club legend.

If he leads us to a major honor like PL or CL then the story changes, but that seems more like pie in the sky for us at the moment, and even more so for him.

You could apply that sort of logic to virtually every United captain over the last 40 years. You don't think Robson, Keane or Neville were captain when we had embarassing results?

Every chance if the club moves to bigger and better things while he is here. Easy to be the big star when things are great. But it will mean more when things are bad and he helps us get out of it

Shows how shit the last couple of years have been that people forget that Rooney was also part of a declining and bad United teams for 4 years.

I understand doubts about Bruno, but the man is in fact a United legend. That he has been yoked with utter shit around him -- as well as the appalling situations with Rashford, Sancho and Greenwood (Garnacho is close but isn't quite in that club) -- it's something of a miracle that we've done as well as we have over the last few years. Bruno is not a one-man team but right now we're as close to being a one-man team as it gets and we somehow were within a whisker of winning a major European trophy.

A weird take considering the whole team was an embarrassment, even if we had Messi or Ronaldo we still would have been smashed.

If he gives us another 2-3 good years, and then still manages to fetch £100m he’ll be a legend

We have a bunch of duds on our team. And then there’s Bruno who has been our best player post Sir Alex. Anyone who claims otherwise is looking for a scapegoat to pin our decline on. Captain or not, Bruno has achieved what most legends haven’t : playing in a tragically inept team and showing others how it should done. More so in a team that is perennially poor and where confidence is low. That dismal Europa Final performance should not be on Bruno but the entire team.

Bruno is a United legend. Clear as day.

He's already a legend(on the lower end of the list) to me. A few more years and it's undeniable. EVEN without big success...He isn't responsible for this period of transfer failures, manager turnover and terrible squads.
