How do you follow managing Man United - impossible! He should retire and enjoy his £7.5 million pay off.
Twice in a row? He managed them from July 16 to July 18. One of those seasons he won the league, the other the wheels fell off & he finished 5th.Indeed. The great Conte couldn't get Chelsea into the top 4 twice in a row.
It does mean a lot of timeSome stage could mean 20 years later also.
He's not getting it in the next 5 years atleast unless he reinvents and proves himself in another league.
He coached them for two years and won a league title and an FA cup win. That's miles better than whatever Ole did.Indeed. The great Conte couldn't get Chelsea into the top 4 twice in a row.
IMO there’s zero chance and reason Ole scores a job in Bundesliga where there’s so many young and prospering managers, they really don’t fancy managers without tactical pedigree. He'll get another PL job eventually. He's not the joke/meme everyone said he would be and he genuinely did some good to great things here.
My guess is he goes to Germany, does well at a club like Wolfsburg, and then takes the next step from there which might eventually take him back to the PL.
To be fair, during United’s spell he did not show neither the ability, nor the will to learn. Tactically, he is the same manager that took us three years ago. He also does not coach yet. So, in what should have served as a massive learning experience, he learned nothing and is the same guy who came here, 3 years ago. Just a bit broken. Why not. He is still young, he can learn he can grow he can rebuild his reputation at some other small clubs in some where.
Thank god you were here to clear that up.he may do, he may not. Time will tell.
Spot on. The day he was sacked was a proper celebration event, just like it was for Mou, LvG and Moyes. I am sure that our rivals were sad though.
I mean, just a few weeks ago he still reiterated that the football is about e passion, winning the fifty fifties and who wants it more. He said last week that against Watford we have to come like a wounded animal. Cliche after cliche, with no indication that he was doing any learning in the first place.
That is why I don’t buy that he did his best. He did not. Doing your best is going outside of your comfort zone, studying what you are doing, learning in the job. He did neither of that, he didn’t even try (for example, taking some experienced coach, doing some coaching, trying different things), instead hoping that Bruno scores another penalty-kick or this season Ronaldo scores another goal from nothing to save his arse yet another time.
Yeah, I guess if you ignore the rest of my post then that one line doesn't really add much to the debate.Thank god you were here to clear that up.
that was the jokeYeah, I guess if you take out all the rest of my post and just leave that one line then it doesn't really add much to the debate.
And my response was to point out that the joke only works if you quote one line out of context by editing out where I'd expanded on the opening line.that was the joke
For a PL job he would have to have an unquestionable success somewhere else first. As of now he is not getting it. Moyes is not even remotely comparable in terms of CV, he had long-term (arbeitet trophyless) success in PL.I think he will sooner or later. He finished 3rd and then 2nd with a United team that hadn’t done that consecutively in 8 years. Even Moyes, who looked woefully out of his depth and took the defending champions to 7th, was given a lifeline at Sunderland. Granted he did have his Everton spell backing him up, but I think the point remains that coaching Man United means you’re attractive to someone.
Could see him having a year out and seeing what offers come in. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him turn up at West Brom or something before long.
Anyone who thinks Ole gets another premier league job is deluded. Another great article in Guardian today, he was the most glaringly unqualifiied manager in the history of MUFC and noone else will touch him. He became a joke for other fans and noone wants to be associated with that. He did OK with one of the most expensive squads in the world, but nothing more than that.Of course, wait till there are a few more sackings below in the table. They'd be in for him. Not sure he'd take it though.
Because Moyes was a proven Premier league manager. Ole was a proven failure at Cardiff.Moyes got one after that horror show so I don't know why Ole can't manage the likes of West Ham, Norwich or Crystal Palace
Agreed. Will take some time but the carousel nature of the PL ensures he'll have a chance of being manager somewhere down the line.I'm sure his achievements (and he does have some, despite what some on here may think) will be enough to convince a chairman to give Solskjaer another chance somewhere down the line. If (for example) Rafa Benitez was sacked at Everton tomorrow, you'd think there would at LEAST be a conversation with Ole. And he's proven himself as a squad builder if nothing else - Newcastle United with their unlimited money could offer him a shot at doing just that, assembling -their- squads of the future. Maybe he's not an elite level manager, but he's amiable to work with and he can build you a team.
Yeah I guess you can also ask the Everton fans just how proven he was in his later years at the club.Because Moyes was a proven Premier league manager. Ole was a proven failure at Cardiff.
