You are never eliminating Morocco. They are simply better. Ready to bet on that! Other than Senegal in Africa (psychological edge), only France and perhaps Argentina could beat this Moroccan team. They are that good. Only missing a deadly finisher which they seem to have found with Saibari.

It did seem an odd decision to appoint him, considering the wealth of talented Portuguese coaches available.

Don't forget how FIFA treated them. They're the one's who own the competition and have to ensure a fair and consistent application of the rules. Iran did not have a chance to compete under the same conditions as the other teams. Absolutely awful
I disagree, can see them losing to Netherlands. Morocco are good but the top European/South American teams are still a level above Morocco/Senegal/Ivory Coast. Its coming soon though, African football trajectory is upwards.
I agree. It's just so damn difficult to win the World Cup that even if you're a great team, the historical gravity of the competitions adds a layer of difficulty to it. The Euros, Copa America and ACN have the odd surprise team winning every now and again. The World Cup almost never has this.

Exactly, it says it all that there’s been more shock league wins than shock world cup wins. If you aren’t one of the top 3 - 5 favs going into the tournament you won’t win the world cup. Every world cup we hear about dark horses, when was the last dark horse world cup win ? Cos there hasn’t been one in my lifetime.

Not really. You have to consider that we have 4-5 top leagues that most football fans follow to varying degrees. Meanwhile there's one world cup every four years. That means there are 16 - 20 tries for a shock result in a top 4 or top 5 league compared to one world cup.

Well, they went out against France (which everyone will) but they were nothing special throughout the whole tournament. It was a ridiculous take to basically call them the second best team after France. A penalty win against THAT Dutch team and an unconvincing win against Canada (who?) before doing absolutely nothing against France.
