World Sevens 2026 | SF 11:00 Chelsea v Villa + SF 12:00 United v Everton + Final 14:30 - Saturday

It’s childish and they’d never expect men’s teams to do this.
Half the players look wholly uncomfortable with it too.

The players having fun playing the actual game is what is enjoyable for me.
I think it is "childish," too, but in the best possible way. They're just having fun, and releasing a lot of stress after a (too) long and difficult season. Even the refs are into it in their walk-ons.

Would the men do this? I don't know, and I don't care, but I'm sure they would find their own way of being goofy.

And I honestly don't know what or who you're talking about in terms of "half the players" looking "wholly uncomfortable" with all the silliness. I just didn't see that at all. Just enjoy the joy!

Getting back to the actual football, I just want to say that these games have served as a good reminder that we have a lot of really good players!

Would the men do this? No they wouldn’t and you know they wouldn’t.
And that in a nutshell is the problem. As @jojojo said though it’s to constant commentary as if the walk ons and celebrations are more important than the football that is really irksome.

Terland gets the opening goal and United lead 1-0 after 7 minutes.

Everton are playing dirty this game.

Nothing seems to be coming off for Toone in this tournament.

3-2 at halftime

United's goals from Terland, Awujo and Malard.

Everton not really been in the game that much but very successful on the break.

Yep, frustrating for Ella. Maybe she's saving it for the final!

United lead 4-2 in the second half. Schuller goal against the run of play. Everton have been the better team this half and have hit the woodwork a couple of times.

Two minutes to play.

Just realised that the prize money this time is much lower with the winner making about £370k

United v Chelsea ... here we go again!

I've only seen highlights on YouTube, but.it really seems a lot of fun, like end of term sports day at school.

Come on, Reds - we can do this!

Yep. And overall, not quite the same glamour to it this time, but some enjoyable games to watch. I think they're still working out the format really. Group stage days have the fans at the ground for a long time and only a few grounds are good for that.

United are following the same pattern as they did last year. They asked the squad if they wanted to play, which they did. But the players are going to share any winnings they pick up with the players who couldn't/decided not to join in.

Cunha loves a silly celebration, Skinner seemed to be enjoying himself wearing the hat yesterday,
pretty sure I could see several of the mens United squad embracing the fun, plenty of men in general would enjoy themselves in this kind of atmosphere.

I'm for any kind of football that gets people's interest that wouldn't normally watch, and I feel this is that.

Womens football in the UK is on the backfoot constantly due to the constant comparison to the mens game and a large percentage of male supporters refusing to take it seriously. Let's be honest, it 100% wouldnt happen in the mens game.

Without being miserable, its nonsense like that which doesn't do the game any favours.

Without trying to sound like a miserable old man, they are top players, just get on with playing football.

4-4 and that's HT

Shooting in practice for the forwards today. Looks like each team gets 5 minutes on top then we swap over.
