A bit confused by your metrics, but the main thing they tell me was that Carrick was awesome. Near the top on all 3.

of course he would

doubt he'd be worth whatever Wolves want for him though

I think we need to stop shopping in this area of the market (established PL players from teams who don't need to sell) because the "no value" thing has never been truer

Inclined to agree. 'Lesser' well off clubs that are playing good football are going to rinse us. The only way to get them is by playing the market and going after those without much left on their contracts, which isn't Neves.

Wolves bought him for £16 million. I think 4 x that would be a fair price.

It's part of the algorithm I created for rating player performance. At some point I am going to go through previous seasons and rate all the United players in each game. Might take a while though!

If we solely sign from EPL... these are the three players we should only focus on.
Grealish
Ndidi
Neves.

Collectively all three will probably cost 200 million. But would make our Midfield among the very best in the world instantly.

Ndidi would be perfect, and Neves would no longer be needed, would rather take a punt on that teenager from Birmingham.

I like him but he's not very mobile which is a concern if he would be our deepest midfielder.

Not sure he's that great for the money he would cost.

Yeah, KSB, Silva etc will be shivering.
None of them are proven at the highest level and given the state of the current coaching and club along with the three players not even being improvements on our current setup this would be a catastrophic move.

His defensive game is great but offers very little else. When has United last used a destroyer like that. Could work if we pair him with two creative attacking players though.

I would love Neves. He's one of those players that fans can't really make up their minds how good he is; like Carrick.

Never understood why we didnt go for him before he went to wolves. He was a established FM wonderkid.

Yes - we badly need someone who can distribute the ball from deep.

I've not read the entire thread so I'm slightly worried that some people have said no.

But yes, yes of course he would. There aren't meant players that play his role with similar attributes in world football. Someone that could help us absorb pressure and move the ball around would make all of the difference. Neves, Pogba and Fred would make a pretty good midfield.

A recently turned 17yo, Camavinga, being so high on that list is impressive given his age, in particular using the last set of metrics! Think he would be a fantastic signing, loan him back for a year if we wanted but i think he would go into our current first team squad with ease.

Nobody talks about Neves now because he doesn't represent value for money any longer and we'd be better off pursuing someone that does.

Wolves would rightly demand a king's ransom for him, and as we're in need of numerous players, I very much doubt we could afford him.

The time to try and land him was when Wolves were just setting foot in the PL.

I can see him joining teams like Juventus, Barca / Madrid or PSG in future.

I watched him early on and thought he was interesting. But have consistently found him underwhelming ever since. Not seen him this season but my general impression of him is that there's nothing special about him.

Until we start sanctioning these types of moves I'll always question the so called revised scouting strategy. At 17 having some of the best stats in Europe, I know the league is inferior being the French but just from observing his play you can tell he's got something that will take him to the pinnacle of his ability.

I think Neves has the potential to be our best signing in a long time. He will bring balance to our team and to the force. Probably a rare transfer I'd turn a blind-eye to the transfer fees to.

Jorge Mendes getting ready to move him on no doubt. There's no way Wolves was the end goal for him. I think there's a good chance he will be sold in the summer.

Fred---Neves---Bruno (all portuguese speaking midfield trio) definitely would be very interesting. Something I'd love to see actually.

Completely agree. He may not be as eye-catching these days, but hes one of the main men in a quick-passing team that has progressed to being very good. He would go straight in and strengthen us.

Although I fear that Wolves will demand a crazy fee, I hope that they may be reasonable if he wants to leave. He has helped them come a long way since his arrival. However, I fear this will only apply if he is wanted by a club abroad.

Love the stats man.

Please if you have the time, could you add in some new names to your algorithm to see how Neves stacks up:

Saul, Rabiot, Rongier, Ruiz, Paredes, Verratti, SMS, Cyprien, Philips

I generally agree with your stance, but Neves is one of the few exceptions to that rule for me, because I think his "type" of midfielder is rare across the European leagues, I believe he has the potential of being Xavi Alonso'esque.

I've added these and a few others. Kante, Gueye etc.
I assumed you meant Kalvin Phillips Leeds?
