Only United fans can think that a team finishing sixth in PL wouldn't win the Championship.
This is genuinely one of the worst and most stupid threads in the history of the Caf.

Debatable.you could argue there would be even more game raising teams should we find ourselves dumped in championship due to Woodward getting done for laundering 50m to shaktar. Those teams raise their game because of who we are. If we were to fall to those standards, but somehow have this same team as now we would romp the league.
Of course the chances of that happening are almost none, but given the discussion, 136 points minimum should be achievable.
Its not even that, 1st and 2nd in a league can only play each other twice, outside of those two games our form is irrelevant if that other team is on a strong winning streak. Look at Liverpool, they put together a points total high enough to have won all but 2 Premier League titles but City had more points. We haven't been relegated though, we're not Newcastle. I see the points being made; that despite footballing talent a dressing room divided can hamper you over a long, physically-demanding Championship campaign, but let's get real.
As I said earlier in the thread the real disgrace is that United have been easily out-enthused this season by Norwich and Sheffield United, not to mention Liverpool and City. If you were to draw up a 92 team Hard Work, Holistic Value and Enthusiasm table to ascertain which teams have worked the hardest for each other and have best proven themselves to be greater than the sum of their parts over the season I'd worry about United's standing. Fortunately we're talking about football, at which we've proven we're considerably better than the other 23 teams that would make up the sodding Championship.Nah mate, let's lose our mind over negativity.
Easily done these daysrattling a few cages. I thought the caveat that saying we are clearly the best squad by a country mile would Clarify my concern. I'm not arguing that we are simply a championship side, just whether we have it in us to get close to 100 points in the league which may well be needed.
I can't see how we can watch our recent games against Cardiff Huddersfield wolves twice and everton and say we absolutely positively would, especially with Jones Smalling bailly young lingard rashford pereira likely to occupy lots of playing time in a 46 game season.
if it makes the classics then great.
Dare I call for a poll
A) easily
B) yes in a close battle
C) not sure, it would be close.
D) no, we have too many problems
We'd have to back ourselves to win those two games and better their winning streak, which I'd be very confident of doing as we're a mile better than any Championship team. I accept the point you're making, that if we came up against a Wolves 17/18 it could be closer than you might think between first and second place, but they got 99 points out of a possible 138, lost seven games and drew nine. I'm confident we'd beat that, as irrespective of the problems at the club we're a stalwart of the Premier League. Its not even that, 1st and 2nd in a league can only play each other twice, outside of those two games our form is irrelevant if that other team is on a strong winning streak. Look at Liverpool, they put together a points total high enough to have won all but 2 Premier League titles but City had more points.
Its impossible to know and hopefully we never have to test it but I just think that if there's another strong team in that league you can't write anything off.
Some highly intelligent person will soon start a thread regarding are we even the second best team in Manchester now?Went from a “How much threat do we face from the teams below us” thread, to would we win the Championship.
We won’t even make it to pre-season before people are asking if we should switch spots with Salford City.
That's all. If somebody says we'd get 95-101 points they're inviting a title challenge. If we're to get over 105 we'd win it 100 percent but drop no more than 25 points in a 46 game season with our current squad and current attitude. I don't see how that could be guaranteed. 100% guaranteed. Its not even that, 1st and 2nd in a league can only play each other twice, outside of those two games our form is irrelevant if that other team is on a strong winning streak. Look at Liverpool, they put together a points total high enough to have won all but 2 Premier League titles but City had more points.

You wouldn't believe we were on our best run in years three months ago! You'd never believe we finished 2nd in the league 12 months ago
So you think a team that finished 6th in the PL, one of the most competitive leagues in world football, would struggle to gain promotion from the Championship?Definitely wouldn't win it with this lot, but we'd get promoted... Just about.
I don't think wed struggle to get promoted. I think we'd be the best team in the league and would likely win it. I also think that our current squad lacks the physicality, work rate, fitness, endurance and attitude needed to breeze through a 46 game season. We've shown countless times that any team can take points off us in the last 5 years home or away but especially away to world class strikers like Glen Murray. I think we'd get close to 100 points, which just might not win it.So you think a team that finished 6th in the PL, one of the most competitive leagues in world football, would struggle to gain promotion from the Championship?
@SER19
Think about what you are suggesting here.
Really, think about it.
Do you reckon the line up we saw vs Cardiff or slight variations of it would definitely win the high number of games they'd feature together over 46 games?Yeah when you see these threads, you know the Prem season is over, but transfer muppet season hasn't started yet.
So we get the OTT hypothetical threads in-between.
This. I thought I've seen enough bullshit on this forum but this thread takes the cake.Does SER19 love attention? Yes.
We closed the season badly, but we'd stomp the Championship.Do you reckon the line up we saw vs Cardiff or slight variations of it would definitely win the high number of games they'd feature together over 46 games?
De Gea, dalot Jones Smalling young, mctominay pereira pogba, Greenwood, mata, rashford?
I'm not sure. We recently took 1 point from 3 games v Cardiff wolves and Huddersfield. Cardiff and Huddersfield are currently worse sides that the teams battling in play offs.
Like I said close to 100 points would win it. But might not
You're probably right. Lot of people hysterically reacting like the conversation is are we a championship club, clearly we are not. But right now I think it's a fair question if our current squad has theWe closed the season badly, but we'd stomp the Championship.
It's not even close.
We gained 1 point in 2 games against the 2 worst teams in PL history, excuse me for not being convinced. I said we'd get promoted but wouldn't win it, not with Smalling, Young & Calamity Jones in the back 4.So you think a team that finished 6th in the PL, one of the most competitive leagues in world football, would struggle to gain promotion from the Championship?

Wolves got 0 points from 2 games against Huddesfield and they smashed championship. We gained 1 point in 2 games against the 2 worst teams in PL history, excuse me for not being convinced. I said we'd get promoted but wouldn't win it, not with Smalling, Young & Calamity Jones in the back 4.
I think this thread shows just how out of touch from reality United fans are. Genuinely some of the comments are incredible.Wolves got 0 points from 2 games against Huddesfield and they smashed championship.
Last season Spurs got 1 points against 20th placed West Brom, Liverpool got just 2 points against West brom. Maybe they will struggle to win championship too.
I'm not even sure why I'm even arguing in this thread, considering how shit this is.I think this thread shows just how out of touch from reality United fans are. Genuinely some of the comments are incredible.
All the moaning about Smalling and Jones without realizing that both of them will walk into every championship team and half of PL teams
We absolutely would not.We would finish with 136 points.
Think most people accept we would likely get 90 plus points possibly 100 and win it as expected. But to bury head in sand and act like we'd coast like it in the old days is naiveI think this thread shows just how out of touch from reality United fans are. Genuinely some of the comments are incredible.

The problem is that it seems our players dont put in the 'hard work' thats required against the lower teams. They seem to think that turning up is enough at times. I could see us dropping quite a lot of points. And then getting into a situation where they need to work hard, and when doing so, picking up injuries as they arent used to it.
Reckon we would win it, and if everybody performs to the level of their ability, we 'should' not only win but smash it. However the sad question is how would they react to facing these teams week in and week out.
What I'm getting at. We simply can't claim divine right to win anything with our current levels and attitude. Glen Murray destroyed us this season. We've made knockaert look like Messi 2 seasons in a row. There's a serious application problem.Considering how little effort our players would put in vs Championship teams, no
Currently we would finish in the playoffs
Most exciting part of ManUtd season (except last season)This place needs a summer break.
TrophyNo, but We will win the Australian open 2026.
