Ignoring Pochettino is silly.

It’s like playing Pereira in midfield when Modric is on a free ready to be taken

Over 1600 people have voted to keep Ole. This is very surprising given zero improvement in play or results over so many months.

Ok mate. He’s not a winner. I see that it goes against the forum thinking to think the sun doesn’t actually rise out of pochs arse
Jose was a winner that worked out great.

Anything else mate?

I accept he’s not doing a great job but I’m still unsure on his sacking, who do we bring in?
people seem to adore Poch, he’s had Harry Kane belting them in at spurs, can’t see martial doing that for us under him. I genuinely think Poch would also struggle here.
No midfield, no strikers. Just loads of fast wingers. It’ll still be a struggle and then come summer we’ll be calling for pochs head Too.

I’m at a loss at what I think is best to do, I think our board would feel the same
Ultimately we don’t have a good enough squad. The midfield is one of the worst in the league without Pogba. The front 3 are all young and all inconsistent.

But Ole should still go.To spend £130m on the defence whilst letting two midfielders and two strikers go was idiotic. I don’t trust him to rebuild. We were linked with one actual CM all summer which was Longstaff. The rest were CAM, which for me we don’t need. When Pogba is fit that should be his position. We need a proper CM like Allan at Napoli. The fact Ole can’t see this major weakness worries me.

This was the man who chose to let Herrera and Fellaini go.

He doesn't deserve sympathy for having to play a midfield of Pereira and Fred.

Didn't sign a midfielder or a left back either when it was clear he needed to do so. I'd rather have a manager who can do better with what we've got which is still a squad that should be competing for top 4. Not mid table.
Herrera decided to play out his contract during Jose's time.

Let’s get Poch and see. Personally I think he’d struggle here, he doesn’t excite me and I think the same people worshiping him now would be calling for his head in 12 months time.
But whatever, it’s like swimming against the tide trying to argue with people here about not wanting Pochettino.

My apologies if someone else has already contributed with these numbers, but I had a look at our numbers in PL since his full appointment on March 28th.

Home matches: 12
  • Victories: 5
  • Defeats: 3
  • Draws: 4
  • Goals for: 18
  • Goals against: 14

Away matches: 10
  • Victories: 1
  • Defeats: 5
  • Draws: 4
  • Goals for: 7 (3 of them being against Sheffield last round)
  • Goals against: 17

Total matches: 24
  • Victories: 6
  • Defeats: 8
  • Draws: 8
  • Goals for: 25
  • Goals against: 31

That is absolutely appaling to look at. I don't know where to start. Four goals away from home in 9 matches if you exclude the three goals in the last round. One win away since march in the PL. Goal difference in total: -6.

Speechless..

We have many opposition fans on the caf.
As an opposition fan who should be revelling in this, I’m actually finding the constant excuses and media defence rather irritating.

My dislike for irrational and absurd football coverage is somewhat overriding the rivalry.

It’s amazing that people still believe that we can get top 4 if we had a different manager at the helm. It’s insanity.

Nothing is going to change when we are rotten at the core. We need fresh ideas, new leadership, and a different philosophy. Changing one man is going to do jack shit.

No it’s making stupid points that Potch career is based off Kane just scoring goals for him. He’s done more than that in his managerial career.

I’m pretty sure many were calling Ole’s appointment a bad idea at the first place. Poch at the very least is a good manager with decent credentials.

Having a complete nobody as manager was even worse idea than appointing Moyes.

Ole out is not going to solve everything. We will still have Woodward and the Glazers whoever we get as manager next. So it will only go the same way.

I thought it was a bad idea giving Ole the job at the time too.

fair enough Poch has decent credentials but I disagree that he’s all that, I’d rather wait untill someoneelse was available (no idea who) than just swap managers with spurs and hope he can magic an attack and midfield out of our players.

I also worry about trusting ole with a rebuild though, maybe his last chance saloon his the potential of him coaxing halland here.

like I said earlier in the thread, I’m at a loss to what I think is best for the club at the moment

Ole is a dead man walking. He won’t last much more. Our board isn’t that big of an idiots to let someone with 25% win rate to finish the season.

As always we need a plan from the top till bottom and DoF. If that’s not plausible then at least get a good manager in, that would be a great start.

Time to win that Europa League competition once again. No pressure.

Seriously this was a fail once the summer window closed, doubtful Poch will survive two years in this enviroment.

He’s been given a go, it was extremely unlikely he would turn out to be any good. Now end the experiment and go and get someone who can do the job, yes they might also fail but there is no point persisting with this nonsense anymore.

The way it is looking, we will have to win the Europa League to get European Football next year and we wont attract top talent without it. The results under Ole have not been good enough, we shouldn't be dropping points to the likes of Villa, Sheffield United or Bournemouth. Solskjaer never should have been made permanent manager that early, they should have waited to see how we started this season. We don't seem to be improving, can anyone see us getting anything from the next two games? (Spurs and City) the table could look a lot worse a week from now.

Yup. Have just changed mine. I prefer to give managers as much time and faith as possible. But it’s becoming increasingly clear that Solskjær does not possess to strategic or coaching ability at this level. Either his ideas are lacking, or he can’t translate those into reality, or most likely both.

We need to hire someone who has the strategic acumen to outwit 90% of other PL teams and the coaching ability to make his players deliver this on the pitch. And we need 5 better quality players across the team. The problem is Solskjær won’t be able to maximise those resources even if they were provided to him.

Club should continue the transformation of the playing staff but with a new manager. I’m not sure that should be poch. He doesn’t posses the winning mentality for me.

If we were to sack Ole I’d break the bank for Rodgers. His CV is now even better than SAFs was before he joined us. He’s proven to have both the mentality and big club experiences to lead out reset.

Ole can still have a role at the club, either at youth level or in the transfer committee.
I am leaning this way too, I am not sure Poch is the man too he had his part in what happened at Spurs just like Jose here and he needs time out. We can't however forget that he struggled with recruitment at Liverpool but we can solve that by actually appointing the DOF the club has been stalling on making.

But with him doing so well with Leicester and looking good for the CL he might want a shot at that with Leicester. But looking at how he jumped ship at Celtic for a PL job there is a chance he would do the same for us.

Imagine that.

He’s really a dream appointment for opposition fans though. Literally every team has a chance for picking up points against us - even Rochdale at home.

Harry Maguire is not a 80 mil CB. When you break the world record for a cb, you would expect him to be among the top 5 best in world. I don't think he's even the top 10.

I'm changing my vote i think. Ole just isn't doing that good a job really and Poch is a really obvious upgrade. Its very easy to defend Ole but it doesn't stop that being true.

I’ve actually switched back to keep as I don’t want to be at month 0 with either Poch or Allegri who I am certain would not succeed. Would rather treat Ole as a paper manager until the right man is available. I’d probably like Nagelsmann. He intrigues me
most.

More importantly I want to switch to a structure where our first team manager and coach is replaceable with a Director of Football and their team responsible for longer term transfer planning.
Agree with this. He should stay on until the season is over, and unless things drastically improve (which they wont i recon) we have a new manager lined up. This season is fecked anyways so bringing in anyone else at this point wont do much and may actually be harmful to the new manager. Agree on Nagelsmann as well, would much rather have him than Poch or Allegri

I dont think either Rodgers or Poch will have us competing for titles tbh. Were so far off they dont need to to be an improvement though.

Same way like LVG getting us into the CL and winning the FA Cup or Mourinho winning the Europa and finishing 2nd just 18 months ago. I get things are tough and we should be doing better but to think that we should throw in the towel just because the Glazers are bad anyway sounds to me like cop out meant to buy time for a failing manager.

No one's believing that, and yes, we have far more problems than one person. That said, Ole appointment, while it didn't solve any problem, has become one of the more serious problems in itself, and it simply cannot go on. Hell, I would even be fine with having no manager than having him in charge. He is utterly clueless when it comes to coaching and managing players.

The only reason he won’t be sacked any time soon is because Woodward would have to admit this is failure number 4 on his watch. So, instead, the club will continue to hide behind the chimera of short-term pain for long-term gain. While we carry on being outplayed by the likes of Villa and Sheff Utd. It just saddens me that 45% of voters on here think this is ok. We are becoming like the old City, taking pride in the fact that, notwithstanding we are third rate, we are loyal (“back the manager for 3 years” in our case). No wonder this is the Glazers’ favourite cash cow.

I think this is now my thinking on this subject. We all know Woody wanted Poch before the fantastic run and groundswell pressured them to appointing Ole. But like Carragher said United would be daft to not be keeping tabs on him right now as he’s available for free at the click of a finger.

Would also love to keep Ole in the club in some capacity but that would be tough if removed as manager.

We have played 8 of the teams currently positioned below us and have only managed to take 8 points from those games. 8 points out of 24 is shockingly bad form.

We still have Everton, Burnley and Watford to drop points against.

Ole is sitting this season at an almost 1:1:1 ration of win, draw, lose. We are 3 points above 15th / 16th place, lose the next game and either Villa or Brighton win and we are down just above relegation.

24 games left, 18 points in the bag ... safety is around 45 / 50 points. That means Ole needs to get 32 points, with 72 points left to play for he needs to get almost half of those points to be safe.

His win ratio is roughly 30%, do we believe he is about to start winning one in every two matches?

I don't want to hear about Sir Alex having a rough start (Already won Scottish league and a European Cup) or Pep and Klopp having rough starts (both winners with proven pedigree) ...... there is nothing from Ole's management career to promote any belief in his eventually coming good.

Making him permanent manager was a mistake, he needs to go. He is following his pedigree, straight to relegation.
