Other hand Ole has been mediocre for nearly 3 years and up until a few weeks ago many were still singing his praises. That is unimagimable at Ajax.
There were times I remember Ajax failed to win Eredivisie for 4-6 times in a row twice. So unimaginable at Ajax that they allowed it to happen twice.

Graham Potter has impressed me but who's the better manager, Ten Hag or Potter?
Other than Conte, who else is out there? I don't rate ZZ...

Gassperini for starters

He meant the manager not the team. Guess what happened to those managers. Now compare that with United. It's night and day.

Didn't keep the same manager for 3 years during that time though did they, 5 managers in 6 years the last time that happened. And 3 in 4 years the time after that before they hired Ten Hag.

And the manager wasnt praised for it, which was my point.

He is 51 totally unproven at the highest level of managing a club like United.

He is the latest flavour of the month from the same people on here who were hyping up Eddie Howe and wanting him to take over United a few years ago

Why ? Seriously people are hyping him up for the Dutch league and a handful of results in Europe

Are they somehow better than say the results Ole gets against Pep for example?

The last thing we need of we did sack Ole is another manager not proven at this level.

The guy is flavour of the month let him prove himself somewhere else rather than we waste more years on another bust

There is a reason why Moyes, LVG, Mourinho were sacked and Ole's job is on the rope to follow the same path mate.

Only now, his contract just got renewed. He has been poor throughout and just making top 4 all hr's had going for himself. He should have been under far more pressure throughout.

Considering the backing from last season, finished 2nd is reasonable. This season is obviously a different expectation to Ole, while Mourinho should have at least competing as he spent more than 350m. On the other hand, Ajax are competing with PSV. Not in comparison to United competing with Chelsea, City and Liverpool.

Yes. Difference is he's actually dominating these teams and playing them off the park with a much inferior team and actually getting results. And before he arrived Ajax was midtable. The man literally transformed the whole setup in months.

Also Ole getting results against big teams is a myth. We've been average against the big boys for more than a year now.

The last thing we need of we did sack Ole is another manager not proven at this level.

When Pep got the Barca job he was inexperienced. When Zidane got the Real job he was inexperienced. When Conte got the Juve job, he was inexperienced. When SAF got the United job he was also inexperienced, at least according to your logic.

Look if you're good enough, you're good enough. Bayern had him as a priority until they went for Naglessman. Barca are also looking to appoint him as soon as they sack Koeman, but somehow he's not good for Manchester United.

I wonder if a certain manager from Glasgow who broke the Old Firm monopoly and had really good European performances would be called flavor of the month or inexperienced because he hasn't managed in a top league by the likes of you.

He got knocked out by Leicester, just got to 74 points, failed to win the EL where he shouldnt have been anyway. He doesnt have to play City, Liverpool or Chelsea every week.

Our football is poor week to week, like what have Chelsea, Liverpool and City got to do with that.

Are you still insisting to compare United competing with Chelsea, Liverpool, and City to Ajax competing with PSV? The pressure at United is way bigger, it's fact.

No it's not. The difference in quality between United and those teams is equal to the difference between Ajax and PSV. The pressure isn't suddenly higher if the teams involved are stronger. It's all relative to the situation the teams are in. Ajax still have to win every match and play good football. United on the other hand doesn't even have to be champions every year, otherwise Ole would be out a long time ago.

How is it bigger? Serious question

We had LVG go on that insane losing run and play the most boring football imaginable and nothing happened. We had Mourinho trying to get himself sacked for 5 months before the board decided to pull the trigger.

If anything, the Manchester United manger has the least pressure on him than any other top club.

If you disagree name me any other club where you can spend 400 million pounds on transfers and play like we do right now and still have your job. All after 3 years being in charge. Any other top club and Ole would've been given the boot back in 2019.

For intents and purposes at very least we will be playing attacking football under Ten Hag, which can't be said about a lot of the managers we are being linked right now.

How is the pressure not bigger when you are competing with much bigger league and one of the best league in the world with expectation to compete with the likes of Liverpool, City and Chelsea who are currently among the best top 5 clubs in the world.

Moving from Ajax to Man United for any manager is not just considered as new challenge but also considered as bigger challenge because the pressure is bigger as the difficulty of the challenge is bigger. Unless you are telling me that Erik Ten Hag moving from Ajax to United is like a stepping stone move huh??

If you don't win a title with Ajax your job is in danger.

If you don't win a title in three years at United you get a contract extension.

The pressure is way ramped up. If United lose a match its all over the world. United is one of the top three teams in the world in terms of global fan base.

So where is this pressure you keep talking about?

Is it about winning things? Ole has clearly shown that's not the case

The fans? OT literally sang Moyes' name until he got the sack

Is it about playing beautiful football? LvG, Mourinho and Ole say hi

The press? They don't give a rats ass about us if we don't win. They only do if we win. And if we win, there is no pressure anyways. The pressure comes when we start losing.

So I'm failling to see how is United such a different place from say Ajax where you have the exact same expectations with much less resources.

You really don't get it? How can the pressure be higher than when 2 losses in a row can cost you your job. Sure it's a bigger league and global fan base, but the pressure is never going to get higher than being able to lose you job over a few bad results. At Ajax the pressure is almost always at the highest point it can be.

Ajax are the richest club in Eredivisie, PSV have always been behind them. The same thing with PSG in their own league right now since the takeover. The expectation to win their local is the obviously minimum challenge any manager must do.

If you expect Man United manager to win title in their first or second season full season then the manager must be backed to compete with the likes of City for example.

Tuchel at Chelsea has proven otherwise without making a signing.

He's the ideal coach for the players we have, he's still going to need 2 midfielders but I think Bruno, Mason, Sancho, Rashford, Amad, Elanga and the fullbacks would thrive under him.

As soon as this summer ended or even before we signed Ronaldo, the expectation from everyone had been United to challenge the league means it's the pressure to compete with Liverpool, City and Chelsea.

The fact we are 6th now in 8 games with 5 points below the top of the league and there were already talk about the next manager shows you that the expectation is to compete with them or feck off. If this was last season or two seasons ago, we wouldn't be talking about next manager.

I agree. But we need an attacking RB as well. AWB is good at defending but not so good attacking.

But the squad received massive 300m reinforcement after finished 3rd and won EL in 2019. We only reached that level of reinforcement this summer.

Hate to break it to you, but Ajax have the exact same expectations. Except it's every season. And they also lose their best players every year.

This notion that Ten Hag isn't under pressure at Ajax and will be under immense pressure here is flawed. He's always expected to win the title. And so far he's done a very good job at it. If he moves here the only thing that is going to happen is the pressure is simply going to increase by 5-10% maybe.

But the squad received massive 300m reinforcement after finished 3rd and won EL in 2019. We only reached that level of reinforcement this summer.
Are going to leave out the part where Chelsea had a transfer embargo in the previous seson? Or the part where Chelsea funds a lot of it's transfers via player sales? Or the part that a huge chunk of that money is the 125 million Hazard money?

Ajax has more money than PSV. But PSV also has a lot more money than the rest. PSV is gonna beat the rest, and the pressure is that you have to beat the rest and PSV.

PSV still has a very good team, and for most teams, playing against Ajax is the match of the year. Ajax is by no means the Bayern of Holland. It is only now that they are trying to become that with fantastic management from above.

PSV have not always been behind Ajax, that's simply not true. For starters, PSV have won more league titles (9) than Ajax (8) in the 2000s.

I'm still wondering how that global fanbase affects the manager in practice. Say United lose a match and there is indeed global fan outrage - what's the difference with Ajax losing a match and there being more local fan outrage? How does the manager perceive this difference? (Assuming they're not purposefully browsing the internet to look for this outrage.)
