One derby match in a weekend not enough? How about watching the women at LSV. North Stand - the all standing terrace - will be open for the first time for a United match. Hopefully that means we've get a nice full ground and a good atmosphere for the occasion.

Since we played them and beat them in our first pro match (a WSL Cup game) we've established ourselves in the top 4 of WSL, and we're on track to break into the top three - provided we keep winning.

Meanwhile they've been through relegation and promotion since we first played them. So far this season they've W2, D2, L5 in the League, which would be relegation form in most years but Leicester are having a disastrous (zero point) season.

In other words 3 points are required by us and a nice, large, noisy crowd at Leigh Sports Village would help the cause.

Chelsea and Arsenal play each other so it's crucial we get the win to keep the gap to City and close the gap on one, or both, of Chelsea/Arsenal

Ouch, biggest crowd of the season expected at LSV and less parking at the stadium than usual.

For people going - use public transport (not great, but there is some) or get there early so you can park off-site and walk back.

If you're not going, match is live on BBC1 and iPlayer and free to view on FA player in some countries.

No worries

Our starting line up against Liverpool. Not many changes to the usual line up. The biggest one is Galton who isn't in the squad. I assume due to an injury, as she would normally start. Mannion is back on the bench.

For anyone interested, Arsenal are 1-0 up from a penalty against Chelsea with 15 minutes to go. I think they're quite lucky as it looked like the foul was outside the box to me, but they've otherwise been the better team anyway. If it stays like this, a win against Liverpool will put us 2 points behind Chelsea with a game in hand.

That was easy. Liverpool women defending like Liverpool men.

Very nearly 2, Blundell should have hit the target really. Good to see that we've come out of the break looking sharp, hopefully we can put this game away early.

2-0! Ladd wins the ball high up and a couple of passes later Russo fired it in the bottom corner.

The women look very strong here and will be a very good weekend for them after the Arsenal Chelsea draw earlier.

Liverpool women currently reflecting the standard of the men here.

Fantastic result, and a great crowd as well, 7,666 in attendance. Just got to keep pushing on.

An absolute mauling.

Are we that good or are Liverpool that bad?
Both. We've shown that we are one of the top teams in the league, while Liverpool have fallen behind from where they were, and unless they get some serious investment it doesn't look like can realistically challenge at the top again any time soon.

Good day out yesterday. United, far from perfect, but way too strong for Liverpool. Batlle and Toone contributing so much to our attack without scoring themselves scarcely seems possible. Ladd played great as well, and she did end up with a goal and an assist.

6 goals and 6 different names on the scoresheet - including OG :smirk:

Crowd-wise - great to see all the stands open and busy. Having the standing area open for us for the first time feels like a real milestone for the team. I will say though that Leigh is not set-up well for these bigger crowds.

All the public transport and parking issues were exposed pretty starkly on Sunday. We were 90 minutes early, but we knew the stadium parking was already full and the roads were jammed. The first of LSV's suggested alternative car parks had a sign at its gate saying "no matchday parking". We parked in a side street about ten minutes away, but the signposting to town centre carparks wasn't great for out of towners (ie: people from Salford, Manchester, Bury etc)

Incidentally - Leigh, the rugby league team who play there, don't have the same scale of problem even when they get a big crowd. Most of their fans will be in walking distance or know the area.

Well done team! Spanked the scousers silly. Liverpools defending was absolutely shambolic it has to be said.
