It's the Sunday after the internationals and that means some players will have had a mini-holiday while others have played a lot of football.

USA have a match tonight, so that probably means that Phallon Tullis Joyce will be the last player back in Manchester. Miyazawa's matches with Japan were in Europe so at least she didn't have to do a lot of travelling. Same for Jayde Rivière with Canada. Sandberg went off at halftime in Sweden's game v Spain on Tuesday, but I don't know if that was due to injury. I haven't heard of any other injuries - though Jess Park and Simi Awujo were both ruled out of their national teams due to injury.

At any rate, chances are we'll have a couple of tired or injured players going into the weekend. However, it's Brighton who may have been hit the hardest by the internationals with Agyemang getting stretchered off in England's match.

Our head to head record against them says P16 W11 D4 L1 - though I wouldn't have guessed that. I admit though, that it's fair to say we're favourites for this one. The kind of match where we need to walk away with all the points because we know that our rivals will expect to do the same.

This one feels to me like a potential banana peel, especially playing at their house immediately after the international break. We will certainly be the favo(u)rites, and the match is surely in the "should-win" category for us, but at their best they are surely capable of beating us if we aren't at our best.

Obviously they will be hurt by the absence (I assume) of Agyemang -- but this is also the kind of situation in which teams often rally around their fallen hero and put in extra effort to make up for their loss.
 
It's a horrible common injury in the women's game unfortunately. In honesty it's what everyone was expecting when they saw how the physios were handling her after she went down. You can only wish her luck and a speedy and safe return to football.

Across the season, Brighton have missed out on a lot of talent by losing Agyemang. In terms of Sunday's match of course they've still got the players to do us harm. Fran Kirby for example is always a threat when it comes to United, whoever she plays for.

Really tough luck. Agree on Fran Kirby. One of my favorite non-United players in England, or anywere for that matter.

Any news on Anna Sandberg?

I've not heard anything about Anna specifically, but there is a general, "some minor knocks but no new injuries" about the players who've returned from internationals. So I'm assuming that means it was not too serious.

Simi Awujo stayed with United over the break, recovering from an MCL injury - close to returning to the team now.

Jess Park may return on Sunday. Apparently, she went through the standard test procedures during and immediately after the match but felt some concussion symptoms the next day. She's been following the standard concussion protocol since, but is now back in training.

He also confirmed that we're unlikely to see Millie Turner until the new year.

Skinner also talked of the club's sadness about the death of John Humble, United's previous kitman who joined Liverpool this year but who sadly died last week.

Looks like everyone came back intact from the internationals. Jess Park starts.

 
We're looking a bit open at times. It's a fast start from both teams. 0-0 at 6 minutes.
 
A lot going on in terms of setting up chances but not many actual shots.
 
Brighton defence leave Terland wide open and that's the opening goal for United.

Commentators looking for ways to disallow it, but as there's no VAR we don't have to worry.
 
Possibly offside? Hard to tell, but Terland from point blank range isn’t gonna miss from there.
 
That was weird, everyone seemed to think it was offside :lol: I’ll definitely take it though, it hasn’t been a great performance so far. Once again we’re struggling against a team playing a physical, intense press

Can't help but think we should be further ahead but it will have to do.

The Brighton defender was the one making the final touch to set Terland free, not Zigiotti, so 100% no offside. A timely goal for sure!
 
We just keep gently passing the ball to their keeper whenever we get into a dangerous position.
 
Park gets a lovely goal from the edge of the penalty area.
 
Blundell, Awujo, Rolfo come on. Riviere, Toone and Malard and take their 60 minute FF points with them :lol:
 
Seike hits the post and it rebounds away from Kirby so United still lead 2-0
 
Kirby - inevitably - gets Brighton one back. 2-1 to United.
 
Brighton are very physical, lots of running. United running out of steam in the 2nd half, the subs haven't impacted the game.
 
Naalsund gets the third to settle the nerves! Great again by Park in the build up.
 
And the nerves are back. MLT makes a big error and Seike punishes her to make it 3-2
 
Seike gets clear on her own after a bit of a slow fumble from Le Tissier. We're in 5 mins added, about 3 mins to play now.
 
FT and United won 3-2 after a few hairy moments at the end. Important win for us.
 
I've got to say this is the Jess Park I remember playing against us, but who seemed to vanish at City. I don't know if she's feeling re-energised by the move or if it's that she's being allowed to play more to her strengths. Either way, she's been a great addition to the team.
