Arsenal and Spurs with 19

In other words, two points between second and fifth. WSL is pretty unforgiving when it comes to dropping points and this is a tough match to call.

So what has happened to Spurs then? There hasn't been a major cash injectionv since they finished eleventh last year. They didn't go on a summer spending spree. They do have a new manager though, who happens to be our old assistant manager Martin Ho. They're certainly punching their weight now and maybe a bit more.

Martin Ho did a very impressive job with Brann both in Norway And the CL. He seemingly played an important role as assitsent for Casey Stoney as well, if I remember the hearsay mill correctly. Not too surprised Spurs is doing well with him.
 
It wasn't long ago that we would have looked at this game as a potential easy should-win, but I'm not feeling that way now. We should be in pretty good shape legs-wise after Skinner's rotation against Lyon, but we're definitely going to have to play well to get all three points out of this (as we must).

They should be on sale until after kickoff.

I'm not sure about ticket office opening hours at Leigh at the moment, but it doesn't make much difference. Even if you buy them at a ticket office window, they just email them to you!

Yeah, we jumped in a taxi and have just turned up…quite a nice little crowd building up. Really looking forward to it… :)
 
Manchester United XI: Tullis-Joyce, Sandberg, Le Tissier, Toone, Park, Malard, Terland, Riviere, Janssen, Zigiotti, Miyazawa.

Subs: Middleton-Patel, Rendell, Blundell, George, Awujo, Galton, Naalsund, Rolfo, Williams.
 
Really bright start from United…spurs have come into it though and started to get a bit more of the play…
 
Plenty of possession and position. Some decent chances but nothing to show for it so far.
 
Oof, we’ve had some chances though…ooh crossbar!!!
 
Spurs go one up and it feels like punishment for not taking our own chances.
 
How many times this season will United be punished for not taking chances and then conceded to the opposition’s only chance?
It’s ridiculous again.
 
Kinell…completely against the general run of play in the half…spurs had a 5 minute purple patch and score a very good header via the crossbar…
 
Malard hits the bar from outside the box and follow-up gets cleared off the line.

Same the world over…have to take your chances when you’re on top…
 
So Hinata and Malard were unlucky with long ranged shots hitting the bar. Le Tissier to some extent too, the goalkeeper had come out and she only needed to get her header on target and the goal was open but she had no time to react and know that and she headed onto the bar too. Other than the long ranged shots and Le Tissier header there havent been many chances. There was one with Park coming inside onto her left foot but by the time she shot there were players on the line and several in the way and it was cleared. Also the rebound from Malard's shot where Terland put it back towards goal and Kogo cleared off the line again

Spurs had been poor in buildup and aside from 3 crosses, 2 of which were met with headers scoring goals they werent doing a lot. I dont know how it ended up that Riviere was in the middle trying to defend the cross from England on the first goal. There are 2 CBs who should be doing that. And then on the 2nd goal Spurs put a midfielder forward so credit to them for getting more bodies in the box, but the cross goes towards the same area the other player is anyway and nobody is challenging for the cross. So again not sure whats going on with the CBs but Spurs are winning the ball from crosses and scoring goals

Most of our attacks have been down the left with Park having little success and quiet down the right, but Toone has been completely anonymous so far. Terland had the one rebound cleared off the line but quiet other than that
 
On the current trajectory we're going to finish the season empty-handed and mid-table. Not sure if getting through to the knock-out stages of the Champions League at the first attempt will make up for that. Looks like we simple don't have the squad to take on the league and Europe at the same time.
 
One way traffic for the first twenty minutes. Plenty of possession in the final third, decent chances from inside the box, but no goals and that killer touch missing from our finishing.

Spurs cashed in on our poor finishing. That said, our defence are looking too easy to beat at the moment
 
Zigiotti comes off in case the ref notices her again. Rolfo comes on.
 
Martha Thomas gets Spurs third and that felt somehow inevitable.
 
Worst performance for a very long time.
Five of the last seven lost.
A very concerning loss of form.
 
Stage fright really is infectious. Rolfo blasts the ball over the goal from close in.
 
Toone catches the ball on the rise and that's 3-1 with about 20 minutes to play
