International break over and it's back to WSL for United.

Rivière, Simi and Hinata were over in Japan - playing for opposing teams of course.

MLT played both England's matches. Toone played against China but rested against Ghana. Jess Park played part of both matches. Malard played one match with France. Janssen played and captained the Netherlands.

But it was our Swedish players who worked hardest in their third place Nations League playoffs against France. Rolfo and Sandberg played part of both legs. Zigiotti played every minute - including the extra time on Tuesday.

So, a long week for some players and Zigiotti, Rivière, Awujo, Miyazawa in particular might need some rest. On the bright side I haven't actually heard of any new injuries yet.

Marc Skinner did the pre-match press conference today. No surprises from what I've read.

Phallon is training normally again so she should be back for this one.

Millie Turner had started training with the squad, so we may see her back in the squad before Christmas.

Marc's hoping that United will be able to strengthen the squad during January and that we'll be looking for cover for Celin as part of that.

He sent his and the clubs congratulations to Celin and Aron as well.

Incidentally - in case anyone has forgotten. Our matches between now and Christmas:
Sun 7 - West Ham
Wed 10 - Lyon
Sun 14 - Spurs
Wed 17 Juventus (a)
Sun 21 - Spurs - WSLCup QF

Ella Toone didn't play. Miyazawa didn't play. Jayde didn't play. Simi played, so that's good. We should be fresh and raring to go.
 
Kickoff delayed to 12:15 due to "logistical issues" affecting West Ham's arrival. Presumably they mean traffic trouble.
 
Strong team, including Zigiotti who played a lot of minutes in the international break.

 
The combination of the mask and the United warm-up kit on Phallon is truly impressive :lol:
 
Since real last ditch defending from West Ham but it's still 0-0 after 15 minutes.
 
Should be ahead by now but I feel a goal is coming. West Ham look like they’re already flagging after their intense start.
 
Lovely low cross from Sandberg rolls right across the 6 years box and Terland puts it in. United lead 1-0
 
West Ham getting a couple of good chances in the closing minutes there. Hopefully enough to warn us to keep playing.

Not a bad half from us in the rain. Could do with more of the possession and positional stuff turning into actual chances. Could do with more chances turning into goals.

West Ham aren't looking like no-hopers. Solid defending and when they do get forward they're creating chances.
 
While dominating the game, I think only Park and Riviere and one moment of quality from Sandberg with a great take on and cross have been particularly impressive. Glad Terland took one of her chances though
 
West Ham equalise, feels like the ball floats in on an arc to the post, and Phallon just can't get to it.
 
Zigiotti hits the post with a good shot from outside the box.
 
Malard can't quite get the angle to head that Rivière cross home.
 
Beautifully hit freekick from Janssen and we're back in front 2-1
 
100th consecutive start for Maya Le Tissier today. That's some achievement.
 
Played well, West Ham have done well to stifle our chances and make breaking them down hard.

I think they should be glad they’re not down to 10, though. Thankfully we converted the free kick
 
Deserved three points. I would’ve been gutted if this had ended 1-1.
Should have been a little less wasteful in front of goal and made it easier.
 
I thought we played really well. Sandberg and Miyazawa were excellent. Their keeper played well, but they perhaps should have been down to 10. Happy with that though.

Think West Ham did well to make it difficult for us in their area moreso than we were wasteful
 
Sorry I'm late to the party: I wasn't able to watch live and had to watch a recording later.

I agree with others that the team looked very good today. Near the end one of the announcers (U.S. broadcast) asked the other to name her Player of the Match, and I was kind of surprised to realize that I didn't have one of my own: Everyone seemed to be good at whatever their job happened to be. (The announcer named Anna Sandberg, and I was fine with that.)

The match also served as a reminder of how just a little bad or good luck can determine the outcome. Sometimes the shots that deserve to go in just don't, and sometimes shots that have no business going in do. (Ask a Chelsea fan about that today.)

I guess POTM usually goes to a player from the winning team - and Sandberg was superb. But for me the best player out there today was Kinga Szemik - or rather, the one who had the best game.

Edit: that Chelsea game was crazy. Lots of luck for Everton with the woodwork, but also really good goalkeeping and defending.
