Jess Park started for England in their 2-0 win over Iceland.

Mared Griffiths (out on loan) scored twice for Wales. Safia Middleton Patel was in goal.

Melvine Malard started for France in their 4-1 win.

Naalsund started against Germany but Norway lost 4-0.

Janssen started for Netherlands.

Lundkvist and Zigiotti started for Sweden, Rolfo came on as sub.

Miyazawa got a hattrick for Japan against India.

Simi Awujo has been starting matches for Canada.

Phallon Tullis Joyce has started the last couple of games for the USA

I think what pleases me most about all this is Hini's hat-trick, SMP getting good game time and recognition, and PTJ winning her first trophy. Hopefully she will win her second on Sunday. Oh, and Rolfo is back!
 
Japan have qualified for the final of the Asian women's cup. They play Australia on Saturday - 9:00 kickoff.
 
Japan beat Australia 1-0 to win the Women’s Asian Cup. Congratulations to Miyazawa. It will be good to have her back.
 
WFA CUP ... What a fantastic result for Brighton. I'm happy for them. Charlton v Liverpool 0 - 0, currently in the second half of extra time.

Malard started for France but France lost 1-2 to the Netherlands.

Zigiotti started for Sweden, Rolfo came on after 72 minutes, but they lost 2-3 to Denmark.

Jess and Maya were unused England subs in their win against Spain.

Schuller came on as a late sub and scored in Germany's 5-1 win over Austria.

Naalsund started in Norway's 5-0 win over Slovenia.

Awujo and Rivière came on as subs in Canada's 3-1 win over S.Korea.

PTJ was in goal for USA's 0-1 defeat to Japan. Hinata went on as a sub.

This guy's videos are always well-researched, thoughtful, and well-argued. If you don't already follow him you should check out some of his previous videos, which mostly focus on the WSL but sometimes national teams and other aspects of women's football. (One of my favorites is one from a year or two ago about why "Ella Toone is the Most Misunderstood Player in the WSL.") He's a huge United fan, so I think this vid was probably as painful for him to make as it is for the rest of us to watch. Sometimes the truth hurts.

I have some thoughts about this particular video but don't want to bias anyone before they have a chance to watch it themselves....

I know they.probably don't look at this site, but well done to Maya and Jess (and Ella and Phallon) Fully deserved.

I imagine there are at least some folks who think Tooney shouldn't have been included in the England squad given how little she has played over the last few months. But now that she is healthy and well-rested, it would be insane to leave her home from WC qualifiers.
 
On the one hand, I am delighted to see Charlton in the WSL. Someone different to play is always exciting, and the fact that Charlton Women are far exceeding their men is something to be celebrated.

On the other hand, half the league is in London, I could have done with keeping hold of a Midlands away day for my sanity!
 
I weighed that up ... I am in the SW so it is practically the same time on the train to get to London or the Midlands. I just cannot get to home games!

I was visiting my sister in NE Manchester and couldn’t get to a evening home game as could’nt get home on public transport.

I've just watched brief highlights of the Charlton v Leicester game, and what a performance from Charlton's keeper, Sophie Whitehouse. She produced one world class save in normal time and then saved four penalties in the shootout - and all of them good. Quite outstanding.

Think she'll do better than Schuller has done in the wsl

Aston Villa have signed a couple of players who did well elsewhere in europe too. Impressed they got Kielland, think she'll be a good midfielder

Some more big moves

Arsenal sign Reuteler one of the best midfielders in germany for many seasons. To go with Caldentey and Stanway thats huge depth or a top midfield 3

Bayern sign Sophie Proost she looks a good young player

Leuchter a Dutch striker is set to sign for Chelsea. She got 18 goals for PSG last season so will likely outdo Kerr's 7 goals
 
With the signings LCL have made I’m getting really concerned that United are going to struggle for anything more than mid table this season.
 
I feel like Arsenal's transfer business leaves us miles away from them

Stanway an England international, Reuteler was one of the very top midfielders in Bundesliga also and Cerci was 2nd top goalscorer by just 1 goal in the Bundesliga for the 2nd time in a row and now Spain's rightback Battle

Will have to see how this summer goes but doesn't look particularly like we're aiming to keep up with the top 3 any longer.

If anything we’re lucky to remain in the top 4, considering the transfer window LCL has had so far.

It looks like Arsenal, Chelsea and City are setting up to fight on all fronts for the top trophies while we're set to try and consolidate 4th position in the league alone.

And thats assuming we make some decent signings, though I still predict we'll also lose a good player in a similar fashion to last summer with Park and Clinton. Obviously Clinton didnt do anything for City, but she was our 2nd top scorer when she left so it would have helped us a lot to have been able to keep her and still add Park instead.
