WSL Fantasy League 25/26 - GW15 d/l - 11:00 Sat 7 Feb

GW1 Roundup

The new season got underway at the weekend and, as ever, nobody in the league really knew who was going to start, given that there was so much activity in the transfer window. So, congratulations if you managed to field a full team.

15 of the 20 teams in our league scored above average points, but leading the way is @Grande with a very impressive 67 points, thanks mostly to having Toone as captain. Just a note - Grande has two teams in the league, both with identical names. Neither I nor he knows how this has happened and cannot remedy the situation, so just ignore the lower placed team.

I'll give a shout out to Wingin' It and TheRolfocopters @FlexoRodriguez too for scoring above the 60 point mark.

Propping up the table is The Moo Squad, but after last year's performance I know that she will come good.

Having messed up my deadline day transfers, I ended up with a bit of a random team on the pitch.

On the bright side my United players delivered wonderfully well. On the oops side - my captain literally chose herself because I forgot to choose one at all. That was kind of symptomatic of the work-in-progress team selection.

It won't get much better this week either because I actually want to change too many players for one hit. If I get the same kind of result from the United players though - I can forgive the rest.

Oddly enough, when I reminded people to finalise transfers, formation and captains I thought of you. Last season you messed up your captain a few times. I must admit though, I did feel sorry for Little Moo who had Clinton as captain, presumably selected when she was still a United player.

I haven't mentioned it to Little Moo yet, think we are all finding our feet with the London Lionesses team though - some surprise hits and surprise misses in there I think.
Happy with my start, I had Girma too so she has been moved on sharpish.

And I settled my case with the FA, gave them a bag of chips and a coke, so no harm done...

Yep, she's just started college so has been somewhat distracted this last week!

A very last minute reminder.

Transfer/formation deadline is less than an hour away.

Gah. Didn’t spot Kelly was injured. Have another rotated and on the bench tonight too. Annoying.

Captain MLT to the rescue!

My team and its points would have been pretty thin without its United contingent. United delivered near enough half my points this week and Captain MLT produced all but three of those. Mind you without that pesky Nikita Parris, it would have been even higher.

For anyone League watching I'm obliged to point out that Demon Barber has finally taken the mask off and sits top of the League.

After months of Demon denying being a hustler, hiding actual skills below a veneer of averageness last season - I finally succeeded in making their mask slip last year when they returned from the winter break like a different team. Now the mask is truly off and we can only look on with trepidation at what horrors await

GW2 Roundup

Clearly DemonBarbers have a target on their backs now, after an impressive 74 point week that sees them 12 points clear at the top. But we all know that that means nothing at this stage of the season - @jojojo's Tooney Town led the way for most of last season, only to be pipped at the post by @FlexoRodriguez 's Fantasy Femmes. That said, Tooney Town (66 pts) performed well this week - personally I think it shows bravery to select a defender as captain and, had United kept a clean sheet, he may well have top-scored in this GW.

Leah-ding the Pack had a brilliant week with 68 points, and Skinner Out FC also got over the 60 point mark. A final shout out to Scatach who sit bottom of the League despite scoring 48 points - latecomers who missed the first week's points. One to watch out for I think.

Stick or twist? Will your current side come good in GW3, or do you need to utilise your two free changes, knowing that those you swap out (apart from injured players) will play a blinder? United v Arsenal next weekend could be the crucial call.

Triple Captain, Bench Boost and The Wall are available from this week (unless they were available from the start and I did not see them)

Little Moo pointed that out to me, and I told her she needed them more than me, and then she called me names.

I love how fantasy football brings people together!

I see Competitive Dad is back! As is the first Demon Cup competition ...

The Demon League Cup 2025-26

This knockout competition will begin with preliminary rounds for the bottom eight teams in GW4 and  GW5.

The top 14 teams at the end of GW3 will automatically go through. Playoffs for the remaining two places will then commence to produce a Last-16.

The Casey Stoney Knots 2 will not take part in this competition due to their multi-club ownership infringement and a further 114 pending charges.

Shameless behaviour. They didn't even bother to hide it.

Not a bad start to the GW. I swapped out captain Russo - I did not want her doing well against us - and put in Bunny Shaw. City score five and she didn't score. Such is life.

I had Shaw as captain, got an assist but lost points for missing a penalty :(
Parris got an assist, and Casparij got a cheeky defenders goal, always welcome.

GW3 Roundup and Cup Preliminary Draw

It has been an odd (and tragic) week. One game has not been played and as a result the tables have not been updated to add the points of substitutes. I feel particularly sorry for Phallon TullIs-REJOICE who has 24 points on the bench but unfortunately has to go into the playoffs.

I'm giving a shout out to Little Moo, also in the playoffs. United v Arsenal - she had no Arsenal players and had PTJ as captain (12 pts) Very brave. Very loyal.

The Demon League Cup - GW4 Playoffs

The bottom eight teams go head to head. Winner advances to GW5.

Winter Won-Terland v Scatach
Scotlass v The Moo Squad
Toone Raiders v Venkman FC
Phallon Tullis- REJOICE v Cheeky Nandos

Just a reminder - deadline is tomorrow (Saturday) at 11:00 UK

I’ve just realised I have no Arsenal players in my team this week. And they are playing villa. Bold choice Flexo…!

Edit: and clearly the correct one! Good news for us too :)

GW4 Review

I'm not sure that all of the results are finalised as there seems to be some dodgy maths in the calculations, but I trust it will settle.

Quite a lot of above average scores this week - well done to those who scored 60+.

I had a decent week, but that is purely down to playing The Wall. I suspect there were a few who had Bunny Shaw as captain - well done. I replaced her with Russo, so that failed!

The Demon League Cup - GW4 Playoffs

The bottom eight teams go head to head. Winner advances to GW5.

Winter Won-Terland 49 v 47 Scatach
Scotlass 37 v 48 The Moo Squad
Toone Raiders 65
v 57 Venkman FC
Phallon Tullis- REJOICE 36 v 22 Cheeky Nandos

Congratulations to those four teams who now go into the GW5 playoff draw.

I do notice that Demon (aka - the Hustler) is pulling away from the field...

He has used the wall though, shooting his bolt early (I very much hope!)
Psychological warfare to demoralise the opposition? Could well be, consistent with the slow buildup, fast attack Hustler personality. Actually reading that last sentence made me think of my cat - do we know if Demon is actually a cat?

Meanwhile, I've done my duty and updated the thread title. The app currently says it's a 19:00 deadline but as United/Chelsea is scheduled for a 19:30 kickoff - I think they may change that timer. Hence the 18:30 deadline suggested.

However as always - Buyer Beware - if I've got that wrong and you really can change your team after the lineups are announced then don't blame me for encouraging you to miss a great opportunity

My season so far has been like pulling teeth. No momentum at all.
You finished 6th last season and won a cup. You get going after Christmas.
I do notice that Demon (aka - the Hustler) is pulling away from the field...
I accepted the Hustler tag (reluctantly) last year as I had a very poor start then got my act together. However, I actually did not win a thing, so have gone out all guns blazing this season. However, as Flexo points out ...
He has used the wall though, shooting his bolt early (I very much hope!)
... maybe I have pushed out of the starting blocks too quickly. I felt it was a good week, fixtures-wise, to use The Wall. It saved me, but I was let down by Arsenal conceding and Russo not scoring or assisting. I'll take that though, purely from a United perspective.

Psychological warfare? A cat? Whatever I am doing clearly has you worried and is generating healthy chat in here. I'm sure your time for Schadenfreude will come.

The Demon League Cup - GW5 Playoffs

Toone Raiders v Winter Won-Terland
The Moo Squad v Phallon Tullis-REJOICE

The two winners of these playoffs join the other 14 in the last-16 (GW6)

Are Winter Won-Terland quietly going about their business very well or getting lucky with the draw? That was a close call against Scatach, home advantage won out in the end!

That's the beauty of the cup - I feel for Venkman FC who scored 57 but are out.

Ooh, it is tight at the top! 6 points between the top 4. Every decision counts, which obviously makes me second guess everything on a panic…

After my flash in the pan debut season - which showed so much initial promise only to crash and burn as the games piled up - I've resumed my customary mid-table fantasy league mediocrity.

Ah well, at least the pressure to succeed is off now and I can sit back and watch the frontrunners fight it out.

GW5 Review

It really pains me to write this, having been deposed at the top, but it would be churlish not to.

So, some really strong performances this week. Many congratulations to Walsh Rarebit and The RolfoCopters who now lead the league by a single point. The only solace I can take is that I still outscored Tooney Town - just.

Anybody who scored above 55 points should be proud of their team.

The Demon League Cup Playoffs

Toone Raiders 63
v 27 Winter Won-Terland
The Moo Squad 26 v 35 Phallon Tullis-REJOICE

Congratulations to both winners, who will now go into the Last-16 draw.

I dunno, 43 points seems big, but a hatrick for your captain on a double point bonus and you are laughing. You just need to know when to do that…;)

The Demon League Cup - Last 16 - GW6

Lickalot89 v Phallon Tullis- REJOICE
Back 2 back v Star Guns XI
Tooney Town v Demon Barbers
Welsh Rarebit v Hempire Strikes Back
Toone Raiders v Fins Parkers
Skinner Out FC v Enfield FC
The Lost Casey v The Rolfocopters
Wingin' It v Leah-ding the Pack

All ties to be played this weekend. League form counts for nothing in the cup.

As with last year, in the event of a tie the game will be decided on a) Captain's Points, b) VC Points, c) GK Points.

@jojojo v @Demon Barber is live on Disney+

Sorry, @Demon Barber … I wash somehow blocked from making changes to both (!) the teams I unwillingly registred. Even closing the account only resulted in removing one of the teams (The Casey Stoney Knots), the other one I can’t access now. I ended up registering yet another(!) team, The Lost Casey, not to win the league, but because I’ve been smitten by the fantasy league. Sorry for all the confusion this must create for the rest of you guys.

No worries. None of this is your fault. I have taken the executive decision to replace The Casey Stoney Knots with The Lost Casey in the cup competition, and we'll take it from there!

If you reappear with a fourth team I may have to refer you to @jojojo for a severe telling off.

I'm glad that you are playing, and enjoying it. Zero points - let's see you climb the table.

There's no denying you managed to get the most impressive misbehaviour from the app - I admire that. All I ever got was the spinning timer thing. The Cups await!
