8. I  still can't find @Lobster11

I promised an FA Cup. I'll get it sorted for this coming gameweek. Apologies.

Brief GW 13 Review.

There were many good scores in our league this week (and quite a few lower ones too!) @Scanny top-scored with 70 pts, largely thanks to triple-captain Shaw. Congratulations.

The fact is that the current leaders do not seem to be slipping up, so it will take someone to do freakishly well with the triple-captain, wall and bench boost to overhaul them.

The Demon FA Cup - 2025/26

This is a brand new competition with a brand new format. Obviously it is designed to give those of us with no chance of winning the Demon League a chance to win a piece of silverware. Budget constraints mean it will be silver plated though.

The Format

All teams will be put into two pools. The current leaders will go into Pool A, the team in second into Pool B and so on.

All teams start on zero points and their points from Gameweek 14 - Gameweek 20 (7 games) will be tallied to produce final league positions.

The top two teams in Pool A and Pool B will advance straight to the semi-final knockout round in Gameweek 21. Top of Pool A will play second in Pool B.

Gameweek 22 will be the final.

As ever, in the unlikely event of any tied scores the winner will be decided by a) Captain's points, b) Vice- Captain's points, c) Goalkeeper points.

I hope this makes sense. The Pools will be.in my next post.

Wow. That's quite a format. I hope it doesn't work out too tricky to administer without driving you bats

@jojojo It's actually fairly straightforward I think (hope!) Does it make sense? Does it look okay? Will you check my maths haha.

The thread title has changed in the direction of er, dunno really.

All this weekend's WSL matches are on Sunday. Arsenal v Leicester was listed for Saturday lunchtime, but it's been postponed. That's because Arsenal are playing in the Women's Club World Cup this week. Yes, I was shocked, I had no idea that was happening at all until it appeared on the TV listings.

At any rate the FFL app is still using the cancelled match to set a transfer/formation deadline of Saturday at 11:30.

What it also means is that if you're using Arsenal or Leicester players you need to update your lineup accordingly.

@Demon Barber: Thanks for keeping your eye out for me. I've just been distracted by some real-life things recently and haven't had the time/energy to get started in FF (which would include figuring out how to use the app for the first time). For now I'm just trying to keep up with league and cup matches (plus, recently, a couple of USWNT friendlies). I think I'll just wait until next season to get involved in FF.

@jojojo: I also had no idea about the Club World Cup. I'm not going to cry for Arsenal but I'll bet that right now they are regretting having another match (or two) on their schedule at this point in the season. I already had concerns about the fact that some teams are competing for four trophies simultaneously; competing for five trophies seems almost ridiculous.

Lucky they don't have to worry about the league cup anymore.

I’ve now run out of any “help” after using the triple captain. Just wanted to kickstart my team into some sort of action.

I'm confused by this. The BBC does say that Arsenal v Leicester is postponed but I have not seen anything about who Arsenal play, or where.

A search for Women's Club World Cup says it begins in January 2028. I couldn't even find any.mention of it on Arsenal's website.

From the BBC sport app
On Wednesday, Arsenal will begin their quest to win the inaugural Women's Champions Cup.
The new six-team competition was announced by Fifa in March 2025, along with the introduction of a 16-team Women's Club World Cup.
Fifa are introducing the global competition in an attempt to help clubs maximise commercial opportunities.
The Women's Champions Cup will run annually, except in years involving the Women's Club World Cup - another new Fifa competition that will take place every four years and be held for the first time in 2028.
When the Champions Cup was first announced, Fifa president Gianni Infantino said: "Women's football has reached new heights at national team level and now it's time for global competitions that showcase the best clubs from around the world."

Gotham FC play Corinthians at 12.30 today ahead of the Arsenal v Rabat fixture later.
Arsenal v Rabat is at 18:00 this evening - Arsenal's mens team kick off at 20:00 at the Emirates in the CL.
The final is at the Emirates on Sunday at 18:00.

All the matches are live on Sky Sports main event.

The winners will get $2.3m (£1.7m)
Runners up $1m
Losing semi finalists $200k

I literally hadn't heard of it until about a week ago when Sky started to run ads as part of their "coming up on Sky" sequences. If the Gotham/Corinthians match gets more than a couple of hundred today I'll be surprised. The third place play-off (Emirates on Sunday at 14:30) might not be much different.

I'm sure Sky/FIFA are hoping Arsenal reach the final and that Arsenal's social media accounts are working overtime. Otherwise this could be the dampest of damp squibs.

I was unfair to the fans of Gotham and Corinthians. I didn't see the match live but from the looks of highlights clips and photos both teams had decent numbers of supporters in the stadium. Hopefully they'll be able to mobilize again for the matches on Sunday.

The match ended with:
Corinthians 1-0 Gotham
Ivana Fuso came on for the last 15 minutes.

Barring a weird meltdown or a minor miracle, that means the final will be:
Corinthians v Arsenal

As an American I was hoping for a Gotham-Arsenal final, but if Corinthians was able to beat Gotham I'm intrigued by the final anyway.

I also just have to say that it drives me insane trying to watch a match with Arsenal playing in Chelsea colors. :annoyed:

What drives me insane is how this Mickey Mouse 'competition" has infiltrated my FF thread ;)

All I need to know is how much the extra fixtures will impact Arsenal, seeing as their calendar is now more congested than ours is!

I've finally got round to updating this mini-league thing!

1. Scanny - 130 + 48 = 178
2. Grande - 121 + 47 = 168
3. Flexo - 115 + 52 = 167
4. Demon - 119 + 44 = 163
5. Jojojo - 108 + 36 = 144
6. Amarillo - 80 + 33 = 113
7. Moo - 68 + 24 = 92

How on earth am I still earning points, I have done my usual classic of completely forgetting about fantasy football by the end of October

Thought I had done ok yesterday, solid result and clean sheet for us. Checked the app, someone had got 56 points from that game, had triple captained Zigiotti…lucky them! Hopefully Shaw can get a hatful against Arsenal to bolster both my score and our chances of top 3.

I haven't forgotten to update - it just never ends up getting done, despite me updating the thread title. This is why Fran Kirby is still in my team, despite being injured. In any case I don't think my updates help - when Ella got injured I brought in Park, which has not helped her or United.

I even tried my master plan of bringing in the still returning Sam Kerr and immediately stalled her goalscoring progress - I'm quite proud of that decision though

Thank heavens for this league as I’m doing dreadfully in all my other FF leagues.

WSL is on holiday now and so is FF. It's the WFACup R16 this weekend and then we're into an international break.

So, plenty of time for you to think profound thoughts about how to re-energise your FF season and your team.

And then miss the deadline.

Ouch.

The Ariel WSL Fantasy League won't exist next season. Basically they've run out of money and haven't been able to find a sustainable way of running it as a commercially viable app.

It's always surprised me that they were running such a complex setup with no obvious advertising revenue or sponsorships. Enthusiasm only takes you so far before costs catch up.
