WSL fantasy league | deadline 11am Sun 27 April | GW20 + Demon Supercup Final

You have a point. Unlike many owners/co-owners I will apologise, and reimburse any losses (without sacking any staff in order to offset the deficit)

If you could send your train and hotel receipts to @jojojo then I am sure things will be sorted amicably.
Nice one. Getting strong ‘man of the people’ vibes here, am willing to overlook this oversight.
To the final!!!

Clean Slate. @jojojo mentioned this in a post a short while back, but I think it is worth a reminder.

If you go to Transfers you get the option to change your entire squad without penalty. This could be beneficial with GW15 being a double GW for some teams.

The exact wording is a little confusing, but the way I interpret it is that you can use this option once at any point between now and the end of the season. I don't believe that your squad will revert back to the original one after a week (it's the 'one week only' bit that is causing confusion)

Anyway - good luck all.

Hmm. Clean slate is tempting, but why change a winning formula? Well, I guess to stack it with players who have two games?

Yes. It's make your mind up time again. Transfer and formation deadline is on Sunday at 11:30 UK - an hour before United kick off.

This week is a double game week for the WSL Cup finalists and their rearranged WSL fixture opponents.
So mid-week we'll see:
Chelsea v Leicester
West Ham v City

The inevitable side-effect of that when we get to GW16 for the fantasy League (weekend of 14/16 March) there will only be 4 WSL matches.

Chelsea and City will be playing in the WSL Cup final that weekend. West Ham and Leicester will have the weekend off.

So if you do have a lot of City/Chelsea players etc - you may need to do a major reshuffle between GW15 and GW16.

Maybe the clean slate option will help people who want to do an overhaul in time for GW16 and maybe some others would want to use it in time for GW15? Though I admit I don't actually understand exactly how the option works.

Still, I throw the info into the pot for managers to think about - or not

Good post - generous to the opposing managers too.

Now, I've managed to load my team with three Chelsea players, three City players and one West Ham player - all of whom play twice in GW15. My others are three United and one Arsenal - and all should score decent points this week.

So, I'll use my "clean slate" next GW, which will leave me in a bit of a pickle the week after when I'll only have two free transfers.

Choice/performance of Captains will be key, and also if some dark horse has any boosts left. Interesting times.

A final reminder that the transfer and team selection deadline is now less than three hours away.

Today is also  The Demon Cup Final between Flexo's Fantasy Femmes and Maya's Troopers. I'll be watching United Women then heading to The Red Cafe Fantasy Arena for this.

I've just realised that the cup final will be the longest game of football I've attended, kicking off at 12.30 today and not finishing until around 10pm on Wednesday 5th!

Good luck everyone.

I have tried to not over think in preparation for the final. That, and I was working away yesterday and might not have given the team selection my fullest attention…
But I trust the women to give their all, no matter how many games they are playing this match (what???) and f the leave it all in the pitch then I will be proud.
And in the current WSL climate, if I lose then I guess I’m getting the sack!

You only get the sack if you win a cup final ;)

Hmm. Shaw taken off, Chelsea conceding two…not looking good!
Maya’s Troopers captaining Toone looks like a smart move now!

Well, what an underwhelming weekend for practically all of us! Simply put, the players expected to score big points didn't, or they did not feature at all. Some of us had Bunny Shaw as captain and she managed 4 points. Well done to anybody with 40+ points, but especially to Little Moo with 50. I know that things will change on Wednesday, so this just an interim report.

HT in The Demon Cup Final

Flexo's FFs (36) v (43) Maya's Troopers

This game is still very much alive. Can the underdogs hold on? Will the Fantasy Femmes get the hairdryer treatment?

Nooooooooo!
Well, we did our best, showed great spirit, but couldn’t quite get back from that first half deficit.
Blame City for not starting Bunny….

Congrats Maya’s Troopers!

Maya's Troopers win the Demon Cup New
Maya's Troopers win the 2025 Demon Cup Final!

Flexo's Fantasy Femmes (53) v (59) Maya's Troopers

Congratulations to the winners and commiserations to the valiant runners-up. Thank you all for playing.

Oh, Little Moo scored 61, so she'd have won it :)

Also, cheers Demon, that worked a treat. Next year a league and fa cup?
Sure thing - that would work.

GW15 Summary

A very strange week, if truth be told. Many of us took advantage of the Clean Slate option to load our sides with Chelsea and City players as they were playing twice. Frankly, that backfired. Big players did not score big points and.many of us did not field a full starting XI. Choice of captain was also an issue. The highest scorer in the entire FF competition scored 112 points, with Fujino as captain (30pts)

Still, well played to Boujee Tea FC as the only team in our league to hit 70 points. And we'll done to Tooney Town, Flexo's Fantasy Femmes and Boujee for all breaking the 800 points barrier.

GW16 will be interesting as our greed may have cost us. Chelsea, City, West Ham and Leicester do not play, so there's a lot of juggling to be done. Do you sacrifice 4 points per player in order to hopefully field a full team, or accept a low-scoring gameweek? Decisions, decisions.

Good luck to all.

Edit: I've just noticed that I did not use the Clean Slate option. Woohoo!

What a great cup competition that was to watch from the sidelines! Brilliant work Demon!

Thank you. It was quite fun, and I watched from the sidelines for longer than you, beaten by Little Moo at the qualification stage, which is why I was wanting her to beat Competitive Dad and win the thing!

7 WSL games to go. There's time for a Demon Super Cup :) Yea or nay?

I will always be interested in the opportunity to win silverware!

Demon Supercup draw New
The Demon Super Cup 2025

As there was an overwhelming majority (2) who voted in favour of this, it is happening. The rules, approved by FIFA and UEFA and the WSL, are exactly the same as the normal Demon Cup. However, qualification for this tournament is slightly different as there are now only 19 participants.

So, the 4 teams who are currently at the bottom of our league will have a penalty shootout in GW16. Only the highest scorer will advance to the last 16.

GW16 Penalty Shootout

Liz's Lovely Runners
Dot's Stars
Zebra United
United Army

GW17 Last 16

Skinner's Rotation FC v The Phallon D'Or
They Simi Rollin' v Scanny's XI
The Demon Barbers v Little moo's
Phallon d'Or v Who Knows?
Mad Hatters v Tooney Town
I'm sorry Nic Jackson v Winners of GW16
Boujee Tea FC v Terland and Done
Maya's Troopers v Flexo's Fantasy Femmes

And that concludes the draw.

Talking Points

The winners of The Demon Cup, Maya's Troopers, face off with the beaten finalists, Flexo's Fantasy Femmes. Incredible, Jeff.

The Demon Barbers are once again drawn against Little moo's, who dumped him out of the last competition in the qualifying round.

And there's a heavyweight showdown between Skinner's Rotation and The Phallon D'Or.

It's all to play for. Stay tuned.

I literally don’t believe it….!

Literally? Believe it. It must be a bitter pill to swallow, but swallow it you must!
Well, if I must. We know how they play now, can come in with fresh ideas. And I still have a clean slate up my sleeve. But that is only because I couldn’t work out what to do :(

GW16 - 14/16 March New
Friday 14 March
7pm Everton v Arsenal - WSL YouTube
7:25pm Liverpool v United - BBC3

Sun 16 March
2pm Palace v Villa - WSL YouTube
3pm Spurs v Brighton - WSL YouTube

So, not a lot of matches being played this weekend in the WSL Fantasy League.

Also not a lot of players in some managers squads. In fact if you've got your full compliment of Chelsea and City players in your squad you don't have enough players to make a team unless you do some transfers. I'll also throw in the fact that Chelsea and City play each other in WSL a week later - and they can't all get great points, so there's not even much incentive to hoard them.

With that in mind GW16 may be a good time to use your "clean slate" or maybe not if you've already tidied your squad up.

Transfer deadline is early Friday evening.

Good reminder. Clean slate used. Thank you.

Grrr ... I used my Clean Slate and cannot field a full team. Stupid schoolboy error.

Just a bump to remind people that the transfer and formation deadline is today at 6pm. Also to remind people that Chelsea and City (along with West Ham and Leicester) are not playing this weekend.

Gl2emxuWoAELTOa

If you've got a squad with a lot of Chelsea and City players this could be a good moment to play your clean slate option.

Doesn't apply to you @Demon Barber

The Liverpool v United is also on BBC3 and iPlayer.

Doesn't apply to you @Demon Barber
Thanks for reminding me of my error. I picked two Leicester players, totally forgetting that they were not playing.

Demon Super Cup - Penalty Shootout

Just a reminder that Liz's Lovely Runners, Dot's Stars, Zebra United and United Army play this weekend for a single place in the last 16. Only the highest scorer progresses.

GW16 Review

Congratulations to Tooney Town (60) and Flexo's Fantasy Femmes (56) who have now opened up a bit of a gap at the top of the table, thanks, in part, to their inspired selection of Brighton's McLauchlan (12 pts). Can anybody catch them?

Decent scores also for TheDemonBarbers, Scanny's XI, Little moo's and Dot's Stars, all of whom climb up the table.

Many of us were let down a bit by United losing and Arsenal conceding, or/and by carelessly/unfortunately not being able to field a full team, but hey ho.

A special mention to Dot's Stars who booked their place in the last 16 of The Demon Super Cup by winning the GW16 penalty shootout.

Just a heads-up that GW17 seems to be a double gameweek for both United (AVL & EVE) and Everton (CRY & MUN.) Surely this is a mistake - there is a full fixture list for both GW17 and GW18 according to the WSL fixture list, so no idea what's going on.

@jojojo - if anyone can shed any light on this, then you can!

Edit: It is NOT a double gameweek for United and Everton - the App has been updated. As you were ...

Don't know really, I'm guessing the app needs a bump from its admins and it just hasn't happened yet.

Maybe, as we're talking about shedding light we should bring @Lightbringer in on this

ETA - turns out I wasn't patient enough with the app and a big chunk of this message is wrong. Ok, so we didn't collectively have quite as good a week as I was describing here. Some bits of it are still true though!

GW16 clean sheet card played and a bit of luck with the app worked for me. I chose Russo but I didn't consciously choose her as captain, it must just have defaulted to her as I did the rest of my changes.

My luck with Phallon didn't hold out of course, but MLT helped keep my points up despite the result that I've chosen to forget. Choosing McLaughlin was a massive stroke of luck and something I wouldn't have done if I'd looked at Brighton's recent form.

Which probably explains why after a few weeks of slide I actually got a decent score - I'm better at the game if I let the raw player stats do my selection. As soon as my reactions to last week's matches and my expectations for this week's rivals get involved I forget what averages mean.

Still - very impressive that as a league we all got above average (which was 26 this week) results.

Meanwhile it is very tight at the top and some teams are in great form. I don't know who Boujee Tea is or even whether they're called Mr T, they're a tea lover, or just a cricket fan but that 70 point game week total is impressive work.

That was GW15! Or did you know that? Still, 70 is always a good score.
Oops. The app does really weird things. I'm seeing my this week score and I just kind of assumed...

Oh well. Apologies if I confused anyone or sent them looking happily for their results and they were worse than I was suggesting.

One bit of the app that has now updated - for me at least. The thing that made it look like some teams had a double game week coming has now corrected itself.
