WSL fantasy league | deadline 11am Sun 27 April | GW20 + Demon Supercup Final

One bit of the app that has now updated - for me at least. The thing that made it look like some teams had a double game week coming has now corrected itself.
You are right. It has updated. It did seem strange. I'll edit my post about it to avoid any confusion.

I was banking on Shaw recovering. Ah well.

Edit: Just remembered I've got Beth England too. It's going to be a tough week!

GW17 Review

Well, an interesting weekend, with a change at the top of the table. For the first time this season Tooney Town(30) was let down by his players and Flexo's Fantasy Femmes (65) took full advantage to leap to the #1 spot. Congratulations.

Congratulations also to Skinner's Rotation FC who top-scored this week with 68 points and climbed up to 6th position. The other climbers this week were Liz's Lovely Runners (42), Terland and Done (55), Scanny's XI (64) and TheDemonBarbers (63) who, having languished at the bottom of the table early on, have climbed into 3rd spot. Hustler indeed.

As for player choices, Terland, Le Tissier and Holmgaard were the reasons for success, especially for those who had one as captain. The let-downs had to be Russo or Miedema as captain, and, having scored well in GW16, McLauchlan, whose own-goal in a defeat led to a minus score.

Still, it's made things interesting as we head in to the latter stage of the season. I think that the FF, like the WSL, will all hinge on United's last three games.

Disaster zone of a weekend in FF land for me. Only relieved by the fact I'm pretty content with how the WSL Table is looking now. Even my pet Rugby League teams won!

As for what happened to my team. Maya and Phallon delivered. But even my Arsenal defender was the wrong choice.

As I commented before though, it seems I do better when I forget the names and my memories of the players and who they're playing against that week and just leave it the stats. On the bright side I did get rid of my Villa players.

Great work from Flexo this week.

Delighted with the revenge victory there, even two own goals couldn’t stop us!
Looks like Skinner’s Rotation is a touch draw though, was hoping for the Mad Hatters!

It's team selection time again. I've not heard any injury updates yet but with WCL matches this week some top players will doubtless be rested. Will Bunny Shaw be back? Will Alessia Russo start?

Will Celine Bizet be in action? Even if it's only a minor injury we may decide to rest her until after the international break, just as a precaution.

Anyone hears an update on popular FF picks - please share. Or don't if you're feeling ruthless

Unfortunately I do not have any insider information to share with you, but I gladly would. Your Russo point is interesting as i currently have her as captain. Still, if she does not play I have an excellent vice-captain to replace her.

FF GW18 Review

Tooney Town (56) got back to winning ways this week, thanks largely to having Russo triple-captained, and has managed to close the gap on league leaders, Flexo's Fantasy Femmes (45) to a mere 10 points.

Performance of the week goes to Scanny's XI (63) as they continue their surge up the table - thanks again to having triple-captain Russo. Scanny's XI, along with Little moo's (53), leapfrog Skinner's Rotation (30), who had a bit of a disaster this week.

There's a long gap now until GW19 (19th/20th April) due to yet another international break and the Women's FA Cup semi-finals. A word of warning - the Arsenal v Leicester game in GW19 has already been postponed due to the WCL semi-finals. Oddly though, the website does not say that the Chelsea v Crystal Palace game is off, but we can assume it will be.

Only four games to go. How time flies.

TheDemonBarbers on track to win the Demon Super Cup. What are the odds eh.

What??? On track against the finalists from the last cup competition???
What have I done to offend you!
I've said before Demon has been playing us. Lulled everyone into a false sense of security at the start of the season before turning into a winning machine. Now primed to strike just in time for the Supercup.

Unless of course he's playing the long game and preparing to win the lot next season. Hard to know their real plans at this stage. Like with any hustler.

So, he’s Skinner?
Oh god, I really hope we are primed to strike now I’ve said that!

Well, there's a lot of planning for next season going on behind the scenes, but my focus, as always, is on my team and preparing them for the next match. It's true, we got off to a slow start but, after a couple of adjustments, the results started to happen. And confidence breeds confidence. I wouldn't say I'm a hustler - more like a 1500m runner who tucks in at the back for the first three laps then makes a move. I think I've left it a bit late though.

So, he’s Skinner?

Interesting comparison! And I hope we are primed too. See you in the semis :)

Gameweek 19 and it's a long one. It starts on Tuesday 15th and continue until Wednesday 23rd. The reason for this scheduling quirk is that Chelsea and Arsenal have WCL semifinals over the weekend and have rearranged their WSL matches to suit.

Tuesday 15th April
Arsenal v Leicester City kick off 19:30

Saturday 19th April
West Ham v Manchester United kick off 12:00
Brighton & Hove Albion v Liverpool kick off 12:30

Sunday 20th April
Manchester City v Everton kick off 13:00
Tottenham Hotspur v Aston Villa kick off 14:00

Wednesday 23rd April
Chelsea v Crystal Palace kick off 19:15

This is a tough one. Russo obviously pulled out of England's last game with an ankle injury. I can't find any update on her, but if she is fit I can see her being saved for the Lyon semi-finals. It's also anybody's guess what Chelsea XI will start.

Yep a lot of popular players unavailable or doubtful - including Miedema, Shaw and (I assume) Fowler for City. Lauren James was also unavailable for England and with her injury record I doubt they'll risk her as a starter for their match against Palace.

The awkward thing is that the timing of the Arsenal match means we won't be getting press conference updates from any of the team managers before we have to choose our teams.

I had to make a couple of changes but have kept Russo as I did not want to lose 4 points. I've got a decent midfielder to come in if she does not play, but she was my captain. Don't forget, I've got the Demon Supercup semi v Flexo!

Two hours to go before the transfer and lineup deadline.
I pulled the plug and Russo is dropped - but Mead comes in. No idea who is injured or not, but am sure PTJ and Maya will bring in the clean sheet points.
Semi final nerves here at FFF towers…

As said, I kept Russo, but also have Roord, who I believe is injured. Ah well. I think we are all playing a bit blind this week, with not knowing about injuries and doubtless rotations due to the WCL.

I've got the wrong Arsenal players ... but, congratulations at HT in this game to @FlexoRodriguez for being the first to break the 1000 point barrier.

Come on, McCabe and Caldentey!

Ooh, feels like an early lead in the semi-final, but the game is still up for grabs…!
I need a bit of a miracle, especially as we have the same three United players and both have Maya as captain.

Basically I need Casparij to score five goals!

GW19 - Semi-Finals - Half Time

Phallon d'Or (20) v (30) Scanny's XI
Flexo's FFs (44) v (33) TheDemonBarbers

Three games down and three to play. That's as half-time as it gets.

Scanny's XI are well set to make it to their first ever final, where, as things stand, they will meet Flexo's Fantasy Femmes, who are aiming for their second cup final of the season.

Can Phallon d'Or find a 1999 Camp Nou moment? Can TheDemonBarbers replicate an insane last seven minutes of United v Lyon? It's tense. It's exciting. It's football!

Heady times. Can I hold on for the win or will it be a game of two halves.
Eek!

Uh oh…one down, four to go???

Edit - no more goals for Casparij, will my Chelsea players start? Urgh, who knows!

I am posting this purely to distract myself from the Wolves result. So ...

GW19 - Semi-Finals - 10 minutes plus stoppage time remaining

Phallon d'Or (21) v (40) Scanny's XI
Flexo's FFs (46) v (52) TheDemonBarbers

Scanny's XI are odds-on favourites to make the final, especially as they have Millie Bright as captain and Kaneryd still to play. Phallon d'Or really need Chelsea to concede but Macario to score plenty in order to have a hope.

The other semi-final is neatly poised. TheDemonBarbers put everything into the first 35 minutes of this second-half, but have run out of legs. Literally. They still have some substitute points to be added, having stupidly started with nine players, but I doubt it will be enough.

Flexo's Fantasy Femmes are favourites to progress to their second final of the season. But ... will Kaneryd and/or Ramirez start? Could either or both score own goals or pick up a yellow or a red?

It's a funny old game.

@FlexoRodriguez @Scanny

Looks like it’s Demon’s with 5 mins + added time to play. Am relying on Ramirez or Kaneryd to be brought on and score, which might be a long shot…
