Do you think people actually regret it? Do you think Pochettino, Potter, Maresca regrets going there? Or do you think Ten Hag or Amorim regrets comming here? I just don't think people regret jumping on an opportunity very often.

I definitely believe he would have. He's not going to turn down one of the biggest jobs in the world because he played for one of our rivals. Its not like hes Gerrard and pool though and through. I do feel he could've been the one this time around just like klopp also should have been

Absolutely mad that Liverpool haven't gone for him now. In fact, it's absolutely crazy.

I hope he wins nothing! He looks to be a quality coach, but in a way I am glad to see him go to Chelsea if he can't come here. I love how my Liverpool friends are pretending they are fine despite being convinced they were replacing Slot with Xabi. The arrogance of these lot after their title win last season, talking about how amazing and smart their backroom was because they brought Slot in and he won the league easily. Glad to see them suffer because the whole Xabi-Liverpool destiny thing was unsettling if he continued on his trajectory, I want them to be shite. Don't get me wrong, I want Chelsea to be shite too but they are more likely to mess things up themselves even if Xabi is good.

Theres only so many clubs you can manage. He was never going to turn down Madrid from leverkusen and it seems it was Chelsea or stay unemployed. A career is too short just to sit and wait for the perfect situation
Alonso made Frimpong look like a footballer
Perhaps they just don't rate him that highly. His body of impressive work is basically one season at one club, playing a style of football that probably wouldn't be sustainable in the Premier League. They wouldn't be linked with him so much if he hadn't played there.
He seems pretty smart so I'm sure he'll try to adapt, but I don't think he is a low risk appointment at all for any top team.
There is absolutely no chance he'd have come to United. Him going to Chelsea is completely different and before anyone says Busby that was 80 years ago and completely different times in terms of the game and rivalry

I think it's just another case of the league being much more physical than the BL and too much of a step up. I don't see him becoming a top RB/RWB whoever is managing him.
Alonso for Chelsea is a great hire for them. Now can they leave him alone and let him pick his team and transfers? That's the million dollar question. I think he'll start off strong and then it will eventually revert back to the toxic mess that it usually does with a few losses.

Think this is a concerning move for him. This will be his 3rd major job in management. Hes taking a massive gamble with his career early on, so I feel he has to do a good job there, and with the state of the transfers and the players they have, I think the odds are against him.
Otherwise I think his trajectory on jobs offered will drop off, similar to Mauricio Pochettino.

Alonso vs Carrick next season, interesting. I actually thought Xabi was a better player than Michael, hopefully the opposite is true when it comes to coaching.

I kind of expect it to get worse before it gets better with Liverpool if they stick with Slot. Even if they do make a managerial change, they need a bit of a rebuild. Salah and Robertson out the door on frees, van Dijk will be on his last legs and most of the new signings they made this season haven't been successful.
Simple fact is he's a back three coach, Wilcox and Co didn't want him. The people making decisions at the club, couldn't give a fig where someone played before, as they're all City staffers.

Interesting pick. Will be curious to see if he goes with his back 3, and if Chelsea fans enjoy that more than we did. I still think the owners are complete clowns and that's going to be hard for Alonso to overcome.
I guess not. But perhaps Liverpool think that sticking with the manager who has won the Premier League and (probably) got them into the Champions League again is lower risk. Alonso may do well, but also may end up finishing 8th. Chelsea are in such a state that they don't really have much to lose even if it goes badly.
I don't think he'll do well. This isn't the 1-team German league where the 1 team had a bad year. He couldn't even last at Madrid for a season.

His Leverkusen side was one point off the Bundesliga points record. He didn't win the title because Bayern had a poor year
He'll do well there, the midfield is strong and the defense is decent once the injuries are managed. If they sort the attack in the summer they'll be top 4 contenders.
We will never know but I think it's very unlikely that he cares that much about the rivalry
Genuinely interested in how he does. I look at their squad and I do not see a lot of quality at all.

Edit: He had good mix of experience at Leverkusen. Tah, Tapsoba, Xhaka, Hincapie and Palacios all started Europa final and Schick and Andrich came on so he needs that mix in Chelsea squad next season.
