Xabi Alonso | Next Ex-Chelsea Man Ager?

It's on the club leadership, lets be honest. If you have a squad of "vibes" players, and then bring in a coach notorious for being very demanding on work rate etc., whose entire philosophy is built on players performing very specific roles and working in a very specific manner, then you can't be surprised if it takes a while to work. To function properly under Alonso Madrid need a complete change of their work culture, which is just a very lengthy and difficult process. If they are committed to it, then it will bear fruit eventually, probably. But I am absolutely certain that Madrid isn't a club that thinks about "eventually" or "probably". They want "immediately" and "definitely". The approach is completely alien to their entire organisational philosophy.

United, by contrast, are sticking to the "eventually" and "probably" model because they are trying to build an identity. Tactically, this has been a real flop - and I am pretty convinced that Amorim isn't the right manager to bring success on the pitch, but from what I have seen he has brought significant improvements in how players train, how they approach preparation, and their mentality. That will "eventually" hold us in very good stead, when we get in a manager who has a better approach to tactics and game management. Probably.
A Madrid pundit was talking about this on YouTube, pointing out the inconsistency of demanding immediate results when you have invested in young players, and when only the attack and the goalkeeper are top 3. They were putting Alonso and Klopp together as the same kind of model , teams that mature and improve over time , but he also reminded that Klopp finished 8th in his first season, so his success was anything but immediate. Honestly, I see it as impossible to replicate.
*not exactly 8th because la liga is dead, but the equivalent of finishing second.
I was meaning if it becomes a write off after making an example of some of the players. tbh I was half-joking anyway, I just enjoy the chaos.
I’m afraid we can’t afford a purge. Even in the hypothetical case of scapegoating Vini/Fede/Jude we would first have to sell him and then be able to buy an equally good player for 100/150 million.
Look at how we are begging for stars in their final year of contract.
I think the debate is going to shift in the future toward the need for a Xabi/Kroos type of player.

having a manager of Klopp's quality would command respect from players instantly.

Too bad coaches like Klopp don't grow on trees?

Also just for Kloppo fans and proponents of hard running like Zehner, a team that tries to outrun & outpress opponents will oft rack up injuries and stamina issues toward the end of the season. During Klopp's highly entertaining reign at Dortmund, players like Piszczek ran themselves into injury and due to exhaustion, there were poor runs of form like 2014/15. At Liverpool Klopp evolved tactically to focus more on dominating possession to conserve energy and press more selectively, because a team that wants to win trophies in May has to play it smart and can't be running 24/7. It's the same in tennis, top dogs like Alcaraz & Sinner try to win in straights in the early rounds of Slams in order to spend less time running on court so they stay fresher and better-placed to win the final. Fine margins matter in the finals. This is also why Klopp only won 1 CL final (after he shifted to a more possession-oriented strategy) and why coaches like Hasenhüttl, Rangnick, Bielsa find it tricky to adapt their philosophy to a team that wants to win big trophies. It's not easy to strike a balance between pressing intensity and a great possession game.

Bonus vid of Enrique demanding Mbappe press like a leader, if Xabi is too meek to say it he should just play this on loop on the Bernabeu screens

PSG outpressed their way to CL victory because winning Ligue 1 in January allows them to conserve energy, but even so Dembele has been unfit for long spells this season and their form has fallen off since.

Did you just admit that Klopp was able to adapt his tactic? Well, if i were Perez there's no greater news than this. PLUS current madrid's side is brimmed with workhorses like Valverde, tchouameni, and tchouameni. No more the elegant midfielders of Kroos or Modric.

Klopp would be brilliant anywhere, he’s the best manager in the World for me.
This is wild take when you've got Ancelotti sitting there with 5 CLs and Pep sitting there with 40 trophies or whatever. People say 'money, blah blah' but posterity doesn't give a crap about that. In 50 years time, all that will matter is who won what.

So what you are saying is that whom prosperity remembers as the best isn't necessarily an accurate reflection.

Why would you hold people accountable to the clueless? It's why they don't.
how is your billionaire owner not clueless? The difference is being held accountable to thousands of people whose interest is success, vs being accountable to one billionaire whose interest is the bottom line or publicity

This is a nice narrarive, but it's also kind of bullshit. PSG got pinned into their box and forced to defend for their lives for all but the first 20 minutes of their SF against Arsenal - the ones were Arteta had messed up the triggers and counters for Arsenal's press, as soon as he fixed those, it was all Arsenal with PSG forced to rely on counterattacks like the best Mourinho sides.

They won because they finally got the lucky breaks going their way

They were way more dominant and way more deserving of winning the tie against Dortmund last year, for comparison

He’ll be our backup for Amorim!

3 at the back endures.

Seriously though; ex-Liverpool player managing United - impossible?

As I already wrote, they have experts around them.

Who? What makes them experts? Is this documented or are you assuming?

If there's one thing notable in football it is how little "best practice" models are followed relative to the enormous sums being managed.

So do the elected presidents -.- the difference being if those "experts" prove to be morons, after at most 4 years they're gone and replaced. If your billionaire's experts prove morons...well, it's still up to the billionaire whether to change them or not

Sorry what?
This is one of the more mad opinions I've read on here.
In what way benitez was similar to Klopp tho?
They both have similar number of trophies. Benitez has two leagues and one cl. They both suit underdog teams. People used to say Benitez was better than mourinho because he can do it with less money, ignoring porto. Benitez is a valid comparison to klopp. Neither have proven they could go to a club like madrid or city and win.

Politics is a different though, that's apples to oranges.

I imagine their resume does.

That's a wild take. Klopp is streets ahead of Benitez. His Dortmund side was the last team to deny Bayern the title two years on the bounce (I think?) and his Liverpool side juggernaut on a different level to anything Benitez has ever done.

....the hell are you talking about???? We're talking ownership models here
Yes. And apparently a model that gives all the power to a single, clueless person is better than yours, that has proven to be the most successful one in the whole sport, because that clueless person has magical experts around them, unlike Real, where experts don’t exist.

I agreeklopps better, but not way better. Benitez managed to beat madrid and barca to a title twice.

Funnily enough the boards structures are similar and not made of sport experts but business and accounting people. The difference is what happens below them, for some reason elected people have an incentive to hire sport experts and follow their lead.

Except Klopp has 3 league titles (including a league title outside of his native country, u unlike FSW) and 1 CL.
They both suit underdog teams.
Benitez failed with Inter and Real Madrid. We dont know with Klopp yet.

People used to say Benitez was better than mourinho because he can do it with less money, ignoring porto.
Never heard of that and i started watching PL in 2000.

Benitez is a valid comparison to klopp.
Not a chance.

Neither have proven they could go to a club like madrid or city and win.
Again we dont know with Klopp yet.

I said klopp is better. If it wasn't a valid comparison they wouldn't have almost same number of leagues and cls. Benitez didnt fail with those two clubs, he disappointed and didnt live up to expectations.

Why hasn't klopp gone to a heavyweight like inter or madrid who have hig resourcesbut fire managers fast? Why is he still at underdog teams? If he was so much better he would surely have gone there and won.

Well Sir Matt did spend 8 years playing for city, then 9 at Liverpool. He didn't work out too badly for us.

What do you mean what kind a resume? A work one. People who work in the industry.
I think at this point you are being deliberately obtuse because you've freely fabricated the presence of these experts.
